Urban negotiation, art and the production of public space
"An Artwork for an Imperfect World" é um trabalho colaborativo entre a Galeria Temple Bar, a ONG Merchants Quay Ireland e pessoas sem-teto. Urban Negotiations are art strategies that find possibilities for art to engage in the urban environment. Urban Negotiations are collaborative and participatory actions in the production of public and private space. An Artwork for an Imperfect World is a collaborative work with Temple Bar Gallery, Merchants Quay Ireland (NGO) and people suffering homelessness. For a duration the gallery became host, a place of hospitality, were each evening dinner was served from a redesigned Van. The artwork now functions as a mobile needle exchange unit in the streets of Dublin. Nomadic Kitchen is an interstitial art initiative that engages in the process of negotiating the urban environment with the residents of Vila Nova, São Miguel Paulista (São Paulo, Brazil). The structure functions as a locus where residents self govern and develop flexible and creative ways of building a context for living. The structure of Nomadic Kitchen is flexible, fluid, and adaptable to different occasions and contexts. Urban decisions around producing public and social space are made while cooking, eating and meeting in the Nomadic Kitchen. This interstitial structure becomes a place of dialogue while defining the conditions that determine public and private space

Empathy as a crucial skill in disrupting disparities in global brain health
Brain health refers to the state of a person's brain function across various domains, including cognitive, behavioral and motor functions. Healthy brains are associated with better individual health, increased creativity, and enhanced productivity. A person's brain health is intricately connected to personal, social and environmental factors. Racial, ethnic, and social disparities affect brain health and on the global scale these disparities within and between regions present a hurdle to brain health. To overcome global disparities, greater collaboration between practitioners and healthcare providers and the people they serve is essential. This requires cultural humility driven by empathy. Empathy is a core prosocial value, a cognitive-emotional skill that helps us understand ourselves and others. This position paper aims to provide an overview of the vital roles of empathy, cooperation, and interdisciplinary partnerships. By consciously integrating this understanding in practice, leaders can better position themselves to address the diverse challenges faced by communities, promote inclusivity in policies and practices, and further more equitable solutions to the problem of global brain health
