This study analyzed factors responsible for road accidents along Kano-Kaduna-Abuja dual carriage way. Category Model was used for the primary data. The results obtained revealed that huge amounts of financial and human resources were lost due to road traffic accidents along the route. Our results revealed that the explanatory variables are jointly significant in explaining factors that are responsible for accidents. However, changes in family income did not significantly explain reasons for accident on the selected route. It was further discovered that lack of routine repairs, maintenance and the existence of potholes are responsible for crashes on the highway. It was recommended that the relevant ministry and its agencies should always effect repairs on bad portions of the highways. Driver’s education and sensitization should always be strengthened and enforced to ensure compliance for proper driving habits

    The legal critical literature review

This paper explains the legal critical literature review in the critical context of the logic of scholarship. The paper asks what makes a critical literature review effective in research. It suggests that critical literature reviews are effective in research when they more easily allow the identification of research gaps, in the specified context. The methodology employs cumulative synthesis from the relevant materials, following Bentham’s ideas on synthesis, that analysis opposes both generalization and synthesis. The paper begins its argument by outlining the nature of a critical literature review. Then, it proceeds with a review of key terms required by the writer. Following this essential background, the paper discusses literature gaps and literature search methodologies. Then it moves on to the ideal format of a critical literature review. Finally, argument deals with the purpose of a critical literature review and techniques for writing the critical literature review.A legal critical literature review will be maximally effective when it sets a correct context for research, identifies fallacies in the scholarship in order to discover research gaps, and then forms this outcome into a central research question

Although efficient computer programs are available for analysis and design of most structural systems, design aids are very important in engineering designs. This research study presents a time-saving design aids for oneway hollow sandcrete block slab. The slabs are designed to conform to the specifications of BS 8110, and are intended in design offices for preliminary designs and for checking computer results outpu

Moderating Impact of Sustainable Building Awareness on the Relationship between Sustainability Concepts Application, Sustainability Constraints, and Knowledge Level

Stakeholders do not adopt the concept of sustainable building in the building industry. Therefore, this research aimed at study the stakeholders' level of knowledge, awareness, and constraints of building sustainability concepts and how they affect the adoption of building sustainability concepts. A quantitative research design was employed using a questionnaire. A research sample of 201 was collected via a structured questionnaire survey that was randomly selected from 420 registered professionals in northwest Nigerian. Data collected were analysed using the SPSS and WarpPLS packages. The findings show that the level of knowledge and awareness was moderate among the stakeholders. Likewise, sustainability constraints have a negative effect on the adoption of building sustainability concepts, level of knowledge has a positive effect on the adoption of building sustainability concepts; awareness of sustainability concepts has improved the effectiveness of the relationship between sustainability constraints and adoption of building sustainability concepts, and awareness of sustainability concepts improves the effectiveness of the relationship between the level of knowledge and adoption of building sustainability concepts. Therefore, there is a need for the developing nations to emphasized regular sensitization of sustainability concepts and principles so that the menace of lack of its adoption can be curtailed

This study investigates the relationship between telecommunication infrastructure and economic growth in Nigeria using time series quarterly data for the period of 2002 to 2014. A functional relationship was modeled between macroeconomic variables such as GDP growth rate, teledensity, number of mobile telephone subscribers, number of landline subscribers, degree of openness in the economy, gross domestic investment and foreign direct investment. This study adopted an autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL) estimation techniques approach to cointegration test using bound test, stability test and others. The results from the analysis revealed the existence of long run relationship between telecommunication infrastructure and economic growth in Nigeria and concluded that, gross domestic investment, foreign direct investment and degree of openness in the country has improved the teledensity, number of mobile telephone subscribers as well as number of landline which facilitates or enhanced economic activities and in turn leads to increased economic growth. We therefore recommends that government should implement policies that will enhance the development of the telecommunications sectors and complementary factors such as electrification particularly in rural areas, pay more attention to measures that would increase mobile telephone penetration such as reduce tariffs on telecommunication components, as well as formulate policies that will enhance domestic savings and attract more foreign direct investment. The Revenue Allocation Framework And Local Government Systems In Kano And Sokoto, Nigeria

Nigeria’s federation has been evolving for many decades. From its inception, the federal system had been sloppy, battered, contested, and conflict-ridden. These have been attributed to a lack of mutual trust among the diverse groups within the federation and, most importantly, a lack of consensus on the revenue allocation framework. Thus, the search for an appropriate financing system took centre stage throughout the country’s existence. However, the return to civil rule in 1999 once more ignited the hope for a functional and appropriate federal system that would set the country’s treacherous experiences straight. Alas, the period further witnessed the severe weakening of various governance structures, particularly the local governments, which were adjudged to be the closest unit of authority to the citizens. In view of these, the study examined how the existing revenue allocation framework affects the local government system in Kano and Sokoto states of Nigeria, given the distressing situation and structural problems bedevilling local governments. The study adopted the political settlement approach, complemented by comparative historical analysis, to develop key contributions to Nigeria’s intergovernmental fiscal relations and governance
