The newly identified severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV- 2) that originated in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. By July 2020, the WHO reported over 17 million confirmed cases in over 200 countries around the globe. This review discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic may affect healthy people, structure and replication cycle of SARS- CoV-2; targets and therapeutics SARS- CoV-2 and anti-COVID drugs: strategies and perspectives

Pharmacogenetics- gene and SARS-COVID 19 Medication

An analysis of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) genomes collected from the patients worldwide has identified mutations in the virus that could aid in drug and vaccine development. The researchers found that the virus’s genetic diversity in most countries is similar to what it is globally, suggesting that it was introduced repeatedly by many infected people in each country rather than by a “patient zero.” The genetic analysis found 198 mutations that have occurred more than once. “Mutations in themselves are not a bad thing it is nothing to suggest SARS-CoV-2 is mutating faster or slower than expected. Several factors, including pharmacogenetics, it is possible to contribute to inter-individual variability in drug response. However, till today little is known about the host genetics interaction with infection and COVID-19 progression. To understand the role of host gene, we review the current literature, aggregate readily available genetic resources, and provide some updated analysis relevant to COVID-19 and associated phenotypes

Introduction. The success of healthcare organizations depends on the quality and speed of providing services to patients. Synonym for the term success of health care organization is the implementation of modern concepts Synonymous with the success of healthcare organizations is the implementation of modern concepts. In this paper, the emphasis is on the lean concept, affects the quality and speed of providing health services. Subject of research. The subject being researched in this paper is a lean concept which essence is determined by the implementation of methods that affect the speed and quality of providing health services. The aim of the work is to point out the actuality of the lean concept and its application at the tertiary level of health care. Examine the opinion of healthcare workers about the effects that would be achieved by applying the new management system (lean concept). Aim of this paper is to indicate the actuality of the lean concept and its application at the tertiary level of health care system. Examine the opinion of healthcare workers about the effects that would be achieved by applying the new management system (lean concept). More precise possibilities of imple- menting the lean methodology, which can be used to improve clinical processes. Materials and methods. The research was conducted by designing and using research questionnaires. Questionnaire structured by the author for the purposes of research in this paper. The questionnaire was sent to 472 employees’ mail addresses and was filled out by 91 employees. One of the reasons for the lower questionnaire return rate is the lack of familiarity of employees with the lean concept and its effects on the provision of health services. The return rate of referrals indicates the need for prior presentation and familiarization with the concept itself and its impact on business processes. A Likert scale was used to assess the opinions of healthcare services workers about the effects that would be achieved by applying the lean concept at the tertiary level. Medical wastes are shown in the oncology department (case analysis). We statistically processed the data obtained from the questionnaire using the SPSS 20.0 software package. The results are presented tabularly and graphically. The following methods are used in the paper: analysis method, inductive - deductive method, synthesis method, description method and proof method. Results. The results of the research showed that (analysis of health organizations that apply the lean concept) and the opinion of health workers about the possibility of applying the lean concept at the tertiary level of health care has a positive impact on improving the efficiency of the provision of health services. The interpretation of the correlation coefficient from the previous table indicates the exist- ence of a positive relationship between the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes (r=0.846; p<0,05). Based on the literature review and the obtained results, it was determined that there is no formalized concept with instructions on the implementation of clinical process improvement methods. There was a positive impact on improving the efficiency of the provision of health services, through the imple- mentation of modern methods. The review of the literature and the obtained results revealed that there is no formalized concept with instructions on the implementation of clinical process improvement methods. Conclusion The expected positive effects of the implementation of the lean concept at the tertiary lev- el of the health care of are manifested through: faster service delivery to patients, reduction of service waiting time and general improvement of business processes. The implementation of the lean concept would reduce medical waste, which would positively affect the quality of health care services

In this study we investigated gait measurement with wearable sensor for subjects with and without multiple sclerosis (MS) and evaluation gait function. The gait function was measured with Avatar sensors system in 3 patients with MS and in 3 healthy subjects without MS. The system consists of a main sensor node and three additional fixtures. Each sensor node is wearing three-axial accelerometer and two-axis gyroscope. Cross-correlation analysis with the walk signal was applied.Coefficient values from cross-correlation are determined for all 6 subjects. Then for a new unknown subject the cross-correlation was applied and the mean value cross-correlation for healthy subjects was 0.0477, while in MS subjects this value was 0.0207. A proven validation for this small training system has shown the evidence for different gait analysis for MS and healthy subjects. This small study opens a new avenue for clinical diagnosis of potential MS subjects while wearable sensor can provide an objective framework for assessing gait abnormality. The measured data can provide better understanding on the progression of the disease and response to treatment

Correlations Between Clinical Parameters and Health-Related Quality of Life in Postmenopausal Osteoporotic Women

The purpose of this study was to assess the correlation between health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and clinically relevant osteodensitometric and biochemical parameters in postmenopausal osteoporotic women. Bone mineral density (BMD) and T scores of the lumbar vertebrae and femoral neck were assessed in 100 osteoporotic women (56 without previous fractures and 44 with previous fractures) using dual x-ray absorptiometry. The Fracture Risk Assessment Tool (FRAX) index for major osteoporotic and hip fractures was calculated based on demographic data and hip BMD. Venous blood samples were taken from each subject for biochemical analysis (serum calcium, phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase and vitamin D levels). HRQoL was assessed using the QUALEFFO-41 questionnaire (domains: Health perception, Pain, and Physical, Social and Mental function). Basic participant characteristics (age, menopause length, body mass index, smoking habits, hereditary tendency towards fracture, fracture history) correlated with some of the QUALEFFO-41 domains, but the correlation coefficients were low (r<0.3), except in the case of the correlation between Pain and fracture history (r=0.638). Of the six variables included in the multiple regression model, fracture history was shown to be the most significant predictor with respect to the following three QUALEFFO-41 domains: Pain (b=20.511), Social function (b=2.548) and Health perception (b=3.185). Correlation analysis showed that after adjustment for basic characteristics, BMD and T score of the femoral neck and Pain (r=0.331 and r=0.449, respectively), Social function (r=0.422 and r=0.419) and Health perception (r=0.434 for T score of the femoral neck) exhibited the strongest correlations. Vitamin D was negatively correlated with Mental function, while the other biochemical parameters exhibited variable correlations with the QUALEFFO- 41 domains (r≈0.2-0.5). Our study confirmed the previously established relationship between BMD of the femoral neck and HRQoL in patients with osteoporosis and demonstrated correlations between various blood bone metabolism parameters and HRQoL that have not been previously investigated
