    : Cleft lip or labioschisis is an inherited disorder that can occur on the lips to the ceiling. Cleft lip is a disruption in the face of growth since the fourth week of embryonic life. Method: This research in retrospection description research for knowning prevalence cleft lip or labioschisis in surgical department RSUP. Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou Manado, period of Januari 2011 – October 2012. Output: Prevalence of Labioschisis and Labiopalatochisis on Januari 2011 – October 2012 is 57% and 43%. Presentation for each of kind harelipped are : unilateral labioschisis 47%, bilateral labioschisis 5%, unilateral palatum of labioshisis 28%, and bilateral palatum of labioschisis 12%, submucosa 1%, and cleft palate lips 7%. Presentation according to the place of defect : right 18%, left 57%, bilateral 25%, and status not complete 54%. Presentation according to age for doing operation : 0-4 years 73%, 5-9 years 10%, 10-14 years 7%, and >15 years 10%. Presentation labioschisis according to sex : Man 58%, and women 42%. Presentation labioschisis according to etiology : genetic factor 25%, environment factor 62%, and unknown factor 13%. Presentation of labioschisis that be surgery 93%, and not surgery 7%. Presentation of labioschisis according to complication surgery : bleeding post surgery 1%, secunder infection 4%, dehisensi/establish scar 4%, and not complication 91%. Conclusion: Prevalence labioschisis still decrease in each year, kind of labioschisis that large is unilateral labioschisis and localization defect is often on left edge. Labioschisis is happen more to man. Factor that to cause labioschisis between : genetic factor, environment factor and unknown factor. Labioschisis is often more to surgery 0-4 years old

    Macrophage-Derived Extracellular Succinate Licenses Neural Stem Cells to Suppress Chronic Neuroinflammation.

    Neural stem cell (NSC) transplantation can influence immune responses and suppress inflammation in the CNS. Metabolites, such as succinate, modulate the phenotype and function of immune cells, but whether and how NSCs are also activated by such immunometabolites to control immunoreactivity and inflammatory responses is unclear. Here, we show that transplanted somatic and directly induced NSCs ameliorate chronic CNS inflammation by reducing succinate levels in the cerebrospinal fluid, thereby decreasing mononuclear phagocyte (MP) infiltration and secondary CNS damage. Inflammatory MPs release succinate, which activates succinate receptor 1 (SUCNR1)/GPR91 on NSCs, leading them to secrete prostaglandin E2 and scavenge extracellular succinate with consequential anti-inflammatory effects. Thus, our work reveals an unexpected role for the succinate-SUCNR1 axis in somatic and directly induced NSCs, which controls the response of stem cells to inflammatory metabolic signals released by type 1 MPs in the chronically inflamed brain

    Bonding of the Inner Tracker Silicon Microstrip Modules

    Microbonding of the CMS Tracker Inner Barrel (TIB) and Tracker Inner Disks (TID) modules was shared among six different Italian Institutes. The organization devised and the infrastructure deployed to handle this task is illustrated. Microbonding specifications and procedures for the different types of TIB and TID modules are given. The tooling specially designed and developed for these types of modules is described. Experience of production is presented. Attained production rates are given. An analysis of the microbonding quality achieved is presented, based on bond strengths measured in sample bond pull tests as well as on rates of bonding failures. Italian Bonding Centers routinely performed well above minimum specifications and a very low global introduced failure rate, at the strip level, of only \sim0.015 \% is observed

    In 2008, we published the first set of guidelines for standardizing research in autophagy. Since then, this topic has received increasing attention, and many scientists have entered the field. Our knowledge base and relevant new technologies have also been expanding. Thus, it is important to formulate on a regular basis updated guidelines for monitoring autophagy in different organisms. Despite numerous reviews, there continues to be confusion regarding acceptable methods to evaluate autophagy, especially in multicellular eukaryotes. Here, we present a set of guidelines for investigators to select and interpret methods to examine autophagy and related processes, and for reviewers to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of reports that are focused on these processes. These guidelines are not meant to be a dogmatic set of rules, because the appropriateness of any assay largely depends on the question being asked and the system being used. Moreover, no individual assay is perfect for every situation, calling for the use of multiple techniques to properly monitor autophagy in each experimental setting. Finally, several core components of the autophagy machinery have been implicated in distinct autophagic processes (canonical and noncanonical autophagy), implying that genetic approaches to block autophagy should rely on targeting two or more autophagy-related genes that ideally participate in distinct steps of the pathway. Along similar lines, because multiple proteins involved in autophagy also regulate other cellular pathways including apoptosis, not all of them can be used as a specific marker for bona fide autophagic responses. Here, we critically discuss current methods of assessing autophagy and the information they can, or cannot, provide.     Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are membrane particles involved in the exchange of a broad range of bioactive molecules between cells and the microenvironment. Although it has been shown that cells can traffic metabolic enzymes via EVs, much remains to be elucidated with regard to their intrinsic metabolic activity. Accordingly, herein we assessed the ability of neural stem/progenitor cell (NSC)-derived EVs to consume and produce metabolites. Our metabolomics and functional analyses both revealed that EVs harbor L-asparaginase activity, catalyzed by the enzyme asparaginase-like protein 1 (Asrgl1). Critically, we show that Asrgl1 activity is selective for asparagine and is devoid of glutaminase activity. We found that mouse and human NSC EVs traffic Asrgl1.     GIS-based RAG-coded search priority scenarios for predictive maps to prevent future serial serious crimes: The case study of the Florence Monster

    In the present research, the GIS (Geographical Information System)-based RAG (Red-Amber-Green) color-coded search priority system was applied to the case study of the serial murders of the monster of Florence occurred between 1968 and 1985 in the Florence province (northern Italy). Through a predictive search priority scenario, the RAG maps were aimed to identify the possible areas where the monster could have hypothetically continued to hit if still alive. The identified Red-code area allowed to obtain a very useful result, reducing to the 21% the extension of the site where the serial killer had to continue to hit. In predictive terms, this method, if applied at that epoch, could have helped law enforcements and the judicial authority to strongly reduce the areas to monitor for arresting the responsible of these tremendous murderers
