The THREAT-ARREST Cyber-Security Training Platform
Cyber security is always a main concern for critical infrastructures and nation-wide safety and sustainability. Thus, advanced cyber ranges and security training is becoming imperative for the involved organizations. This paper presets a cyber security training platform, called THREAT-ARREST. The various platform modules can analyze an organization’s system, identify the most critical threats, and tailor a training program to its personnel needs. Then, different training programmes are created based on the trainee types (i.e. administrator, simple operator, etc.), providing several teaching procedures and accomplishing diverse learning goals. One of the main novelties of THREAT-ARREST is the modelling of these programmes along with the runtime monitoring, management, and evaluation operations. The platform is generic. Nevertheless, its applicability in a smart energy case study is detailed
Differential Geometry of Quantum States, Observables and Evolution
The geometrical description of Quantum Mechanics is reviewed and proposed as
an alternative picture to the standard ones. The basic notions of observables,
states, evolution and composition of systems are analised from this
perspective, the relevant geometrical structures and their associated algebraic

Soliton pair creation in classical wave scattering
We study classical production of soliton-antisoliton pairs from colliding
wave packets in (1+1)-dimensional scalar field model. Wave packets represent
multiparticle states in quantum theory; we characterize them by energy E and
particle number N. Sampling stochastically over the forms of wave packets, we
find the entire region in (E,N) plane which corresponds to classical creation
of soliton pairs. Particle number is parametrically large within this region
meaning that the probability of soliton-antisoliton pair production in

500-suns. A high temperature spacer layer between successive layers of quantum dots was used to
reduce the degradation in the open circuit voltage relative to a control device without quantum dots.
This improvement is explained using optical data while structural imaging of quantum dot stacks
confirm that the devices are not limited by strain. The evolution of the open circuit voltage as a function
of number of suns concentration was observed to be nearly ideal when compared with a high
performance single junction GaAs solar cell. Analysis of Suns-Voc measurements reveal diode ideality
factors as low as 1.16 which is indicative of a low concentration of defects in the devices.The authors acknowledge financial support from the European

On the curvature of vortex moduli spaces
We use algebraic topology to investigate local curvature properties of the
moduli spaces of gauged vortices on a closed Riemann surface. After computing
the homotopy type of the universal cover of the moduli spaces (which are
symmetric powers of the surface), we prove that, for genus g>1, the holomorphic
bisectional curvature of the vortex metrics cannot always be nonnegative in the
multivortex case, and this property extends to all Kaehler metrics on certain
symmetric powers. Our result rules out an established and natural conjecture on
the geometry of the moduli spaces.Comment: 25 pages; final version, to appear in Math.
The racist bodily imaginary: the image of the body-in-pieces in (post)apartheid culture
This paper outlines a reoccurring motif within the racist imaginary of (post)apartheid culture: the black body-in-pieces. This disturbing visual idiom is approached from three conceptual perspectives. By linking ideas prevalent in Frantz Fanon’s description of colonial racism with psychoanalytic concepts such as Lacan’s notion of the corps morcelé, the paper offers, firstly, an account of the black body-in-pieces as fantasmatic preoccupation of the (post)apartheid imaginary. The role of such images is approached, secondly, through the lens of affect theory which eschews a representational ‘reading’ of such images in favour of attention to their asignifying intensities and the role they play in effectively constituting such bodies. Lastly, Judith Butler’s discussion of war photography and the conditions of grievability introduces an ethical dimension to the discussion and helps draw attention to the unsavory relations of enjoyment occasioned by such images
On a classical spectral optimization problem in linear elasticity
We consider a classical shape optimization problem for the eigenvalues of
elliptic operators with homogeneous boundary conditions on domains in the
-dimensional Euclidean space. We survey recent results concerning the
analytic dependence of the elementary symmetric functions of the eigenvalues
upon domain perturbation and the role of balls as critical points of such
functions subject to volume constraint. Our discussion concerns Dirichlet and
buckling-type problems for polyharmonic operators, the Neumann and the
intermediate problems for the biharmonic operator, the Lam\'{e} and the
