Institutional Repositories - Dream and Reality
Institutional Repositories (IRs) have been developed primarily to present the visibility of the research output of an institution. However, results of empirical work on the acceptance and use of institutional repositories in recent years paint a rather critical picture of this apparent model of success. Even though university libraries and research institutes invested money and personnel in their construction and operation, institutional repositories were not always able to meet their expectations. Did the proponents make use of the objectives of unsuitable strategies, have there been technological changes, and have IR been silently replaced by other forms and techniques of science communication?
In an attempt to answer these and similar questions in a critical way, factors that have influenced the current status quo of IR should be examined. Using examples from the market for science communication on the one hand and various characteristics of the research process on the other hand, an attempt is made to outline developments and to deduce interdependencies that have influenced the model of IR

Special Issue „Repositories in Austria – Status Quo and (Future) Challenges“
In the debate on the transformation of scholarly publishing, it is getting increasingly obvious that repositories could and should play an even more significant role in the future with regard to an free (open) access to research results and data. It therefore seemed appealing to initiate a kind of survey on "Repositories in Austria - status quo and (future) challenges"

Recommendations for the Visibility of Open Access Publications in the Search Engine of the Austrian Library Network: Report of the OBV Working Group “Repositories in the Network”
This paper presents the results of the OBV working group “Repositories in the Austrian Library Network”. The aim of the working group was to develop a guideline for the registration of metadata for objects in repositories, which would contribute to the development of uniform standards in this regard, and with the help of which it should subsequently be possible to identify repository holdings in Alma or in the Austrian Union Catalogue without creating duplicates. Further goals were the development of recommendations for a central provision of metadata of open access publications to simplify local workflows (analogous to the DFG-funded project DeepGreen) by means of partial automation, as well as recommendations for establishing a tab for open access materials in the search engine of the Austrian Library Network (analogous to the tabs “Literature”, “Theses and Dissertations” and “Bequests / Autographs”)
Serum Coenzyme Q\u3csub\u3e10\u3c/sub\u3e, α-Tocopherol, γ-Tocopherol, and C-Reactive Protein Levels and Body Mass Index in Adolescent and Premenopausal Females
Objective
Lipid-soluble antioxidants are associated with a lower incidence for many chronic diseases of aging, possibly by preventing damage from chronic inflammation. In the current study, we compared serum levels of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), α-tocopherol, γ-tocopherol, and C-reactive protein (CRP) between adolescent girls and premenopausal women to assess changes from childhood to midlife.
Methods
Baseline serum CoQ10, α-tocopherol, γ-tocopherol, and CRP levels were measured in 207 girls (13-19 years) and 183 premenopausal women (34-47 years) using standard methods and the two age groups were compared by t-test. The influence of age, body mass index (BMI) and race/ethnicity and interaction effects on serum values were assessed using analysis of covariance. Pearson correlation coefficients were used to assess associations between pairs of lipid micronutrients.
Results
Overall, adolescent girls had significantly lower mean serum CoQ10, α-tocopherol, γ- tocopherol, and CRP levels relative to premenopausal women (CoQ10: 376 vs. 544 ng/mL, P \u3c 0.0001; α-tocopherol: 6.9 vs. 13.5 μg/mL, P \u3c 0.0001; γ-tocopherol: 1.3 vs. 1.7 μg/mL, P \u3c 0.0001; CRP: 1.29 vs. 2.13 mg/L, P \u3c 0.0001). The differences in CoQ10 and tocopherols remained significant after adjustment for BMI and race/ethnicity. CoQ10 was significantly and positively correlated to α- and γ-tocopherol, and BMI was positively associated with CRP and γ- tocopherol in both groups.
Conclusions
Lower serum CoQ10, α-tocopherol, γ-tocopherol, and CRP levels in adolescent girls compared to women suggests that adolescents may have a reduced need for antioxidants possibly due to their lower BMI and inflammatory status as indicated by CRP
