VARHAISKASVATUSSUUNNITELMAN PERUSTEIDEN UUDISTUS 2017 : Poimintoja sanomalehtiuutisten ja –kirjoitusten keskeisistä teemoista uudistukseen liittyen

Opinnäytetyöni aiheena on tarkastella, mitä asioita uuteen varhaiskasvatussuunnitelmaan (VASU2017) liittyen nousi esiin kahden levikiltään Suomen suurimman sanomalehden, Helsingin Sanomien ja Aamulehden uutis- ja mielipidekirjoituksissa. Työssäni tarkastelen, mitkä asiat herättivät eniten keskustelua ja nousivat uudistuksen kärkiteemoiksi. Opinnäytetyöni keskeisen teoriaperustan muodostavat Varhaiskasvatuslaki (2015 ja 2018) sekä Varhaiskasvatussuunnitelman perusteet 2016 sekä muut kehittämistyöhön liittyvät asiakirjat ja tiedotteet. Opinnäytetyöni aineisto (N=98) koostuu Helsingin Sanomien ja Aamulehden uutisoinnista sekä mielipide- ja yleisönosastokirjoituksista vuosina 2016-2017 sekä alkuvuodesta 2018 aiheeseen liittyen. Opinnäytetyöni on luonteeltaan laadullinen tutkimus. Sisällönanalyysin avulla tarkastelin, mitkä olivat ne keskeiset asiat, jotka varhaiskasvatussuunnitelmauudistuksen ympärillä nousivat esiin ja mitkä asiat uudistuksessa nähtiin tärkeinä ja teemoittelin esiin nousseet asiat. Opinnäytetyöni aineiston perusteella varhaiskasvatussuunnitelman perusteiden uudistuksessa eniten pohdintaa ja keskustelua herättivät niin varhaiskasvatuksen sisällölliset kuin sen toteuttamiseen liittyvät asiat. Katsomuskasvatus, lapsen varhaiskasvatussuunnitelman tekeminen ja henkilöstön vastuut tähän liittyen, varhaiskasvatuksen resurssit sekä lasten osallisuus olivat keskeisiä esiin nousseita teemoja. Myös seksuaalikasvatus, yhdenvertaiset mahdollisuudet sekä varhaiskasvatussuunnitelman perusteiden muuttuminen suosituksesta velvoittaviksi ja varhaiskasvatuksen kiinnittyminen entistä vahvemmin osaksi koulutusjärjestelmää erottuivat selkeinä teemoina.The aim of my thesis is to study what issues related to the new national core curriculum for early childhood education and care were notified in the two biggest newspapers in Finland, Helsingin Sanomat and Aamulehti. In addition, I study which issues awoke discussion and became the main themes of the reform. The essential theoretical base of my thesis consists of the Act on Early Childhood Education and Care (2015 and 2018) and the national core curriculum for early childhood education and care 2016 as well as other documents and official papers related to the development work. The data of my thesis consists of news and letters to the editor related to the reform of the national core curriculum for early childhood education and care published in Helsingin Sanomat and Aamulehti during the years 2016-2017 and at the beginning of 2018. My thesis is a qualitative study. With the help of content analysis, I reviewed which main themes came up related to the national core curriculum for early childhood education and care reform, which themes were regarded important and made a thematic analysis of the newspaper writings. Based on my research data the main themes that raised discussion were related to the reform were the contentual and practical issues of the early childhood education and care. Ethical education, making the child’s early childhood and care plans and responsibilities of personnel when making these plans, the resources of early childhood education and care as well as participation of children were the main themes aroused from the writings. Also sexual education, equal opportunities and changing the National core curriculum for early childhood education and care from recommendation to binding and bonding the early childhood education as a part of the educational system were clearly distinguishable themes
