Information disclosure behaviour in social media among Malaysian youth : the impact of privacy concern, risk and trust
People have been using Social Network Sites (SNS) to communicate and make friends through online. Although SNS has been benefited its users in many ways, information privacy seemed to be overlooked. This study proposes a framework to examine users? protective behaviour associated with information disclosure in SNS. The proposed framework was derived based on the Protection Motivation Theory and Privacy Concern
A static analysis of android source code for lifecycle development usage patterns
Building robust Android apps is a non-trivial task that requires
skilled developers to understand various Android platform peculiarities.
However, among the Android developers community, a large fractions are
considered to be novice and inexperienced developers. One of the main
peculiarities in the Android app development is the activity lifecycle
model. A developer needs to have deep understanding of the different
lifecycle states and callback methods that an Android activity can go
through during its runtime. These callback methods are called by the
system whenever an app activity changes its state. The developer needs to
override appropriate callback methods correctly to avoid app memory
leaks and data loss or other phone resource compromise. Detailed static
analysis of software applications provides actionable insights and helps us
to understand how applications are actually built. Although there have
been many studies focusing on static analysis of Android apps in the areas
of testing, quality, design, privacy and security; no studies to date focus
on lifecycle development practices and usage patterns thus far. In this
paper, we analyzed 842 open-source Android apps containing 5577
activities to explore and understand how Android developers actually
comply with best practices regarding the Android activity lifecycle
model. We developed a tool named SAALC that is capable of analyzing
Android activities and extracting valuable information about lifecycle
callback methods usage. Our results show, which callback methods are
implemented and the nature of the code they contain. The results also
show incorrect implementation of the callback methods and incorrect
acquiring and releasing of system resources in many Android apps and we
argue that a relatively large fraction of Android developers do not
sufficiently well understand the app lifecycle model. We also discuss our
results in comparison to the Android app lifecycle model best practices

Investigating the effects of personality traits on pair programming in a higher education setting through a family of experiments
Evidence from our systematic literature review revealed numerous inconsistencies in findings from the Pair Programming (PP) literature regarding the effects of personality on PPโs effectiveness as a pedagogical tool. In particular: i) the effect of differing personality traits of pairs on the successful implementation of pair-programming (PP) within a higher education setting is still unclear, and ii) the personality instrument most often used had been Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), despite being an indicator criticized by personality psychologists as unreliable in measuring an individualโs personality traits. These issues motivated the research described in this paper. We conducted a series of five formal experiments (one of which was a replicated experiment), between 2009 and 2010, at the University of Auckland, to investigate the effects of personality composition on PPโs effectiveness. Each experiment looked at a particular personality trait of the Five-Factor personality framework. This framework comprises five broad traits (Openness to experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism), and our experiments focused on three of these - Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness. A total of 594 undergraduate students participated as subjects. Overall, our findings for all five experiments, including the replication, showed that Conscientiousness and Neuroticism did not present a statistically significant effect upon paired studentsโ academic performance. However, Openness played a significant role in differentiating paired studentsโ academic performance. Participantsโ survey results also indicated that PP not only caused an increase in satisfaction and confidence levels but also brought enjoyment to the tutorial classes and enhanced studentsโ motivation
Analysis of expertโs opinion on requirements patterns for software product families framework using GQM method
Software product line engineering (SPLE), provides an opportunity to improve reuse of software artifacts through domain engineering and application engineering processes. During the domain engineering process, reuse activities of the product line are well-planned and subsequently executed in the application engineering process. This paper presents an analysis of interview result with experts in requirements engineering (RE) and software development for validating requirements pattern for software product families (RP-SPF) framework. The interview was conducted using goal questions metrics (GQM) method to define a goal and formulate research questions for conducting the interview. During the interview, 6 experts compared RP-SPF approach (systematic) with ad hoc (conventional) approach of reuse and documentation of requirements in terms of suitability, efficiency, and effectiveness in SPLE. The experts also gave their feedback on the perception of the use of RP-SPF tool. The analysis of the interview result shows that RP-SPF approach is suitable in SPLE and more efficient and effective than ad hoc approach of reuse and documentation of requirements
How personality traits are interrelated with team climate and team performance in software engineering?: a preliminary study
Personality and its impacts on team
processes in the domain of software engineering have
been an area of investigation for many researchers since
the last many years. However, personality traits and its
effects on team climate and team performance were not
being focused as area of research. In our previous
research, we had performed a systematic literature
review on team climate and team productivity. In
progression of our earlier work in this paper, we have
extended the work and take personality traits as an
independent variable over team climate and performance. This paper reports the results of preliminary data survey, which has been conducted to measure the effects of personality on team climate and team performance. Results show the strong and positive correlation among personality factor Extraversion, team climate and team performance variables
Social networks peacebuilding event mining: a systematic literature review
Social Networks (SNs) becomes a major source of reporting new events happens in real life even before the news
channels and other media sources nowadays. The objective
of this paper is to get insight of peacebuilding (Pb) event
mining (EM) from SNs (e.g., tweets, Fb posts, etc) by conducting the systematic Literature (SLR) process. The paper aims to answer some research questions (RQs) that includes: 1) Which SN's has been widely used for Textual PbEM?; 2)What Context or setting has been focussed of PbEM studies and how to catagorize Pb events?, and 3) What other
types of events are reported? The SLR process has been
used to identify the related literature and for analysis of evidences in order to answer the RQs. This paper concluded
on the basis of SLR studies that the "twitter" is the most
frequently used SN for Textual Peacebuilding Event Mining
(PbEM) because 54 out of 64 studies on PbEM uses Twitter.
SLR resulted that earth quake (EQ) events are the major
concerned events that e๏ฟฝect country's economy and peace
as compare therefore most of studies uses the EQ as context/setting. The paper presents the details on categories of Pb events, contexts/settings and the list of other types of events or topics that are the center of the research nowadays based on synthesis of evidences
Terms extractions: an approach for requirements reuse
This paper presents a solution to a requirements
reuse problem that utilises natural language processing and
information retrieval technique. We proposed a semi-automated
approach to extract the software features from online software
review to assist the process to reuse natural language
requirements. We have conducted an experiment to compare the
manual feature extraction versus the semi-automated feature
extraction. We used compilations of software review from the
Internet as a source of this extraction process. The extracted
software features are compared against the features obtained
manually by human and the evaluation results obtained in terms
of time, precision, recall, and F-Measure indicate a promising
result
