Faktor utama keupayaan inovasi syarikat milik rakyat Malaysia: analisis kepentingan-keberkesanan
Kajian ini mengukur tanggapan syarikat milik rakyat Malaysia terhadap kepentingan dan keberkesanan faktor inovasi dalam meningkatkan keupayaan inovasi syarikat mereka. Faktor keupayaan inovasi yang dikaji terdiri daripada faktor Polisi (PO), Pembiayaan (FF), Sumber Manusia (HR) dan Fasiliti (FC) pada setiap proses inovasi, iaitu Penjanaan Idea (P1), Reka Bentuk (P2), Prototaip (P3), Pembangunan (P4) dan Pemasaran (P5). Menggunakan Analisis Kepentingan dan Keberkesanan (AKK), min bagi setiap faktor inovasi dihitung dan diplotkan ke dalam grid AKK yang terdiri daripada empat kuadran. Kuadran I dinamai “Kekalkan Keberkesanan”, Kuadran II “Berlebihan”, Kuadran III “Tumpuan Rendah” dan Kuadran IV “Tumpuan Utama”. Faktor inovasi yang perlu diberi Tumpuan Utama (Kuadran IV) adalah faktor P1_FC, P3_FC, P4_FC dan P1_HR bagi syarikat bersaiz kecil, faktor P2_PO dan P2_FF dalam syarikat bersaiz sederhana, manakala bagi syarikat bersaiz besar adalah faktor P2_FC, P4_FC, P1_HR, P4_HR dan P4_FF. Hasil dapatan AKK membantu pihak pengurusan syarikat menentukan strategi seterusnya bagi meningkatkan keupayaan inovasi syarikat dengan memfokuskan sumber dan tenaga syarikat kepada faktor-faktor inovasi yang penting tetapi dilaksanakan secara kurang berkesan
Pengukuran prestasi universiti menggunakan model kecemerlangan prestasi menyeluruh berasaskan nilai teras
Perubahan yang berlaku dalam persekitaran politik dan ekonomi global menjadikan pengurusan
organisasi semakin mencabar. Proses globalisasi dan liberalisasi ekonomi, peralihan ekonomi
negara kepada K-ekonomi, tekanan untuk memperluaskan konsep governans, jangkaan
pemegang taruh dan pelanggan serta revolusi dalam teknologi maklumat memerlukan suatu
pengukuran prestasi yang lebih seimbang untuk memastikan organisasi terus relevan dan
bersaing. Keperluan sebuah organisasi bagi menterjemahkan nilai dan berpegang kepada prinsip
amatlah signifikan dan penting dalam mewujudkan satu sistem pengukuran bagi meningkatkan
prestasi organisasi yang berasaskan nilai teras. Model Kecemerlangan Prestasi Menyeluruh
Berasaskan Nilai Teras (VBTPEM) merupakan satu daripada pengukuran prestasi yang tidak
asing lagi bagi kebanyakan organisasi. Dengan menggunakan nilai-nilai teras yang telah
dibangunkan oleh model VBTPEM ini, pengukuran nilai lebih mudah ditentukan. Dalam kajian
ini, beberapa kriterium bersandarkan nilai teras, iaitu kepimpinan, budaya, produktiviti dan
prestasi diukur untuk mengkaji prestasi Institut Pengajian Tinggi (IPT). Perisian SmartPLS telah
digunakan untuk menguji hubungan di dalam model teori tersebut. Dapatan kajian menyokong
empat daripada lima hipotesis yang diajukan dan menjelaskan bahawa terdapat hubungan yang
signifikan antara nilai yang dipilih dengan prestasi sesebuah universiti

This paper discussed the core values of leadership and its indicators based on the
Value-Based Total Performance Excellence Model (VBTPEM) in the context of
Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) i.e. the university. The pilot study was conducted
at the selected university and produced high reliability index of Cronbach’s alpha (α =
0.866). Multivariate technique i.e. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was deployed
for the analysis and resulted the GFI = 0.966, CFI = 0.991, and TLI = 0.980 while
RMSEA is 0.067 with p = 0.07 and the data fit the model of the single-order
measurement of leadership values model. In conclusion, the instrument for measuring
the leadership values is suitable to be administered as it was tailored to needs and
applicability at the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) in Malaysia
Teaching Science and Mathematics in English Steering Mastery in English Language Amongst Sciences Students in UKM
AbstractThis study was conducted to ascertain teaching Science and Mathematics in English will enhance English proficiency amongst the science stream students in UKM. The study found that the students agreed that the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English can improve their English proficiency. The results showed that teaching Science and Mathematics in English is capable of being a driven force in mastering basic English language and communication, and also in improving the explanation of the concept of Science and Mathematics in English
Students’ Inclination towards English Language as Medium of Instruction in the Teaching of Science and Mathematics
AbstractMalay language, the national language of Malaysia has been the medium of instruction for Science and Mathematics for the past four and a half decades in Malaysia. The government however changed the medium of instruction of these subjects to English in January 2003. The “Teaching and Learning of Science and Mathematics in English” (PPSMI) policy was implemented in all primary and secondary schools. It aims to improve the English language proficiency among students as well as the learning and achievement level in science and mathematics. This paper presents findings of the study on students’ inclination towards English language as medium of instruction in teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics in Higher Learning Institutions in Malaysia. The respondents were 291 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and Faculty of Education (FPEND) of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). A questionnaire pertaining to students’ inclination was used as research instrument. Using descriptive statistics, ANOVA and t-test, the study found that undergraduate students of FST and FPEND had an inclination towards English as medium of instruction in the teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics. Using the Post-Hoc test, it is found that Indian students and students from other races than Malay and Chinese have greater inclination towards English as medium of instruction in teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics in UKM for both faculties. However, FST students who studied in Mandarin and Tamil at pre-university level (STPM) had higher inclination compared to those who used Malay language or even English
Persepsi pelajar Institut Pengajian Tinggi terhadap kualiti Pendidikan Kejuruteraan
Kajian ini telah dijalankan di beberapa buah institusi pengajian tinggi (IPT) terpilih pada semester 2, tahun 2008. Kumpulan pelajar yang terpilih adalah terdiri daripada kelompok pelajar yang pernah mendapat pengalaman bekerja di industri dan juga mereka yang telah menjalani latihan industri yang diwajibkan oleh institusi masing-masing. Persepsi pelajar adalah merangkumi pelbagai aspek seperti persepsi dari sudut teknikal, Persepsi umum, tahap kepentingan dan kepuasan dalam pembelajaran bidang kejuruteraan serta penilaian keseluruhan terhadap sistem pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang diikuti. Keputusan yang diperoleh direkodkan dan dianalisis menggunakan perisian SPSS dan Excel. Secara keseluruhan, tahap kepuasan pelajar adalah masih sederhana dalam aspek pembelajaran bidang kejuruteraan di IPT. Walau bagaimanapun, min tahap kepuasan pelajar yang tinggi terhadap pengalaman pensyarah tidak memadai dalam memuaskan hati pelajar dari segi perlaksanaan kuliah dan kelas praktikal. Oleh itu, beberapa aspek lain seperti infrastruktur diselenggara dengan baik, maklumat komputer yang lengkap dan mesra pengguna serta peralatan makmal dan bengkel yang lengkap juga harus diambil kira dalam proses penambahbaikan program-program yang ditawarka
Tanggapan dan faktor penentu pemilihan makanan halal dalam kalangan ibu bapa Muslim
Pemilihan makanan halal merupakan aspek penting yang perlu diambil kira dalam kehidupan
setiap pengguna Muslim. Justeru, kefahaman yang baik terhadap aspek-aspek pemilihan
makanan halal diperlukan bagi memastikan umat Islam mengambil produk makanan yang
mematuhi Syariah. Kajian ini dijalankan bagi mengenal pasti persepsi dan faktor penentu
pengguna Muslim dalam pemilihan makanan halal. Responden dipilih dalam kalangan ibu bapa
Muslim kerana kumpulan ini adalah kelompok terbesar dan berpengaruh dalam menentukan
pemilihan makanan halal harian. Data dikumpul menggunakan borang soal selidik yang telah
dibangunkan berdasarkan Teori Tindakan Beralasan (TTB) yang melibatkan empat konstruk
utama, iaitu kefahaman, persepsi, penentu pemilihan dan pemilihan makanan halal. Terdapat
empat subkonstruk yang dipertimbangkan menerusi konstruk penentu pemilihan makanan halal,
iaitu logo halal, pemilikan, bahan-bahan dan jenama. Hasil kajian menunjukkan tiga subkonstruk
mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan terhadap pemilihan makanan. Faktor pemilikan tidak
memberi sumbangan yang signifikan terhadap pemilihan makanan halal. Secara keseluruhan,
sumbangan variasi peramal ke atas model TTB adalah sederhana, iaitu hanya 37.3% variasi
dalam konstruk pemilihan makanan halal
Modeling of Engineering Student Satisfaction
The purpose of this study is first; to identify the antecedents to student satisfaction and the relationship between student satisfaction and promotion. Second; to develop a suitable student satisfaction model considering the antecedents of student satisfaction with student
satisfaction and promotion for students of engineering in universities in Malaysia. A total of 500 engineering students from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), University Putra Malaysia (UPM), University Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM), University Malaya (UM) and University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) were involved as respondents in this research. Approach: To examine these
relationships, a model from past study on student satisfaction of Applied Sciences students in Austria was
referred. Based on this model, a suitable model measuring student satisfaction of engineering students in Malaysia is constructed. Structural equation modeling is used as its capability in testing the combination of relationship between service performance, university performance, relationship, university standing, student satisfaction and promotion in higher education simultaneously. Results: Suitable model which is able to explain the factors linked to student satisfaction in engineering education is established. Conclusion: This study finds that the antecedent factors have a direct effect on student satisfaction and also student satisfaction has a significant effect on promotion
