    Prospects of Halal Green Tourism in Brunei Darussalam

    In recent years, there has been a growing interest among academics worldwide in the concepts of halal and green tourism, particularly focusing on sustainability. This trend has created both opportunities and challenges for tourism stakeholders, as there is a strong interest from tourists in both halal and green tourism experiences. Brunei Darussalam, with about 80% of its land covered in primary tropical forest and a significant portion devoted to permanent forests and forest reserves, offers numerous green tourist attractions despite its small size. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the concepts and relevant aspects of halal-green tourism, this study explores the existing literature and theories related to the topic. Using a qualitative approach and secondary data collection, the study provides insights into halal-green tourism in Brunei. Furthermore, a SWOT analysis of the Brunei tourism industry is presented based on the information gathered. The data indicates that Brunei offers an ideal balance of environmentally friendly and halal-friendly services, making it an attractive destination for halal-green tourism. The SWOT analysis serves as a valuable guideline for relevant authorities and policymakers in planning the future development of the country’s tourism industry.     Halal Industry Development in Brunei Darussalam: Realities and Challenges

    The global halal market is witnessing significant growth, estimated at USD 2.41 trillion, and this upward trend is expected to continue due to increasing worldwide demand. In response to this lucrative opportunity, Brunei is actively supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and providing necessary facilities to foster the development of the halal industry in the country. This article aims to explore the current realities of Brunei’s halal sector by examining the factors that contribute to the rising demand for halal products and the opportunities presented by recent market developments. The research employed a method of assessing secondary data from various sources to achieve its objectives. The results highlight several factors influencing the development of the halal industry in Brunei. It is evident that the future growth of this sector hinges on industry players’ ability to expand their understanding of product sales and effective promotion strategies. The findings from this study can serve as a valuable resource for future researchers, academics, and policymakers when making informed decisions about the halal industry in Brunei.     ABSTRACTThe COVID-19 Pandemic that happened in our country and worldwide caused an increase in the number of home-based food producers and operators for the local consumers where the food is been marketed directly or online. This phenomenon fairly gives impacts the important aspect of food safety that is crucial for customers’ health and able to avoid any foodborne deceased which can bring fatal to man health. The food preparation practice that does not keep the hygiene and quality during the food production process will cause the food to be contaminated and thus not safe for consumption. Besides, the food producer does not understand the requirements specified in the regulated law such as Food Act 1983 that need to have complied. Thus, this study aimed to examine the awareness level among Muslim consumers towards the practices of food safety, hygiene, and quality from the preparation and production, and sale of the food that has been conducted among home-based producers and operators. This study adopted a quantitative method where the data is collected from a survey online using Google Forms. The respondents are randomly selected from customers aged above 18 who stay in the area of Bandar Baru Bangi. The data is analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis by using Statistical Package for The Social Science (SPPS) tool version 21. This study shows that the awareness and knowledge of consumers towards the safety, quality, and hygiene of food is likely high. Thus, this study would like to recommend that the safe food practice should be taken seriously by the government and the food operator on the other hand should have indefinite integrity in the business conducted by putting the customer’s health as a priority in dealing with the food provided.     Communication is an important process that enables humans to exchange information and socialize with one another. It is the most frequent process taking place in a classroom. For teachers to effectively deliver a message as well as to achieve the learning objectives, the communication process should be done continuously and effectively. The objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of communication through Problem Based Learning (PBL) for Islamic Education in one of the Higher Education Institutes in Brunei Darussalam. There are two groups of people involved in this research which are the experimental group and the controlled group. The experimental group consists of those undergoing the PBL process while the controlled group consists of those undergoing a normal learning process. Both groups have been interviewed to get their feedback regarding the learning process. The data collected from the interviews are analyzed thematically using Nvivo software. The result of the analysis shows that effective communication through PBL has given the students different learning experience compared to the normal learning session. However, there is no difference in terms of understanding as students from both groups can understand the topics that they have learned. This research has indirectly contributed to the effectiveness of Islamic Education in instilling positive values and attitudes as well as providing learning satisfaction to the students

    Komunikasi merupakan suatu proses penting dalam kehidupan manusia seharian. Melalui proses komunikasi ini, manusia dapat berkongsi maklumat dan bersosial antara satu sama lain. Dalam bilik darjah, komunikasi merupakan proses yang paling kerap berlaku antara guru dan pelajar. Proses komunikasi ini berlaku secara berterusan dan perlu dilaksana dengan berkesan bagi memastikan mesej yang ingin disampaikan dapat diterima dengan jelas, difahami dengan baik dan mencapai objektif pembelajaran sebagai mana yang dirancang oleh guru. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk meneroka komunikasi berkesan menerusi Pembelajaran Berasaskan Masalah (PBL) dalam kursus Pengajian Islam di salah sebuah institusi pengajian tinggi di Negara Brunei Darussalam. Terdapat dua kumpulan yang terlibat dalam kajian, iaitu kumpulan eksperimen dan kumpulan kawalan. Kumpulan eksperimen merupakan kumpulan yang melalui proses pengajaran dan pengajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan komunikasi menerusi PBL dalam bilik darjah. Manakala kumpulan rawatan merupakan kumpulan yang menjalani proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran secara lazim. Bagi mendapatkan data, temu bual secara kumpulan fokus dijalankan di mana kedua-dua kumpulan terlibat dalam memberikan maklum balas mengenai pembelajaran masing-masing. Hasil dapatan kemudiannya dianalisis secara tematik menggunakan perisian Nvivo. Dapatan menunjukkan bahawa komunikasi berkesan menerusi PBL dapat memberikan pengalaman pembelajaran yang berbeza berbanding dengan sesi pembelajaran secara lazim. Bagaimanapun, tiada perbezaan dari aspek kefahaman kerana kedua-dua kumpulan dapat memahami dengan baik setiap topik pembelajaran.     The needs of islamic digital resources in Polytechnic Brunei Darussalam: A preliminary study

    The aim of this study is to identify and analyze the potential usage of Islamic Digital Resources in Polytechnic Brunei Darussalam. This research focus on identifying certain aspects which are (1) types of mobile device used; (2) learning activities that often used in mobile devices; (3) types of social media application favors by student; (4) determining most preferred method of teaching, and; (5) potential use of Islamic Digital Resources. The study uses quantitative approach through survey instrument (questionnaire) that involves 50 students. The data is analyzed using descriptive statistic (percentage frequency distribution and min). Findings show that the potential to create Islamic Digital Resources in Polytechnic is promising. This is based on the compatibility of mobile devices own by students, the familiarity in doing learning activities in mobile devices and willingness to learn through digital. The conclusion is Islamic Digital Resources in Polytechnic is suitable to be developed and applied in teaching and learning. At the end of the study, a few issues regarding the usage of Islamic Digital Resources has been discussed

    Halalan toyyiban concept as religious-based intervention for healthy diet among youth

    Healthy youth eating habits are crucial for optimal growth and development. It helps build a strong immune system and reduces the risk of chronic diseases. In Islam, there is a focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including a healthy diet, guided by the Qur’an and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad( صلى الله عليه وسلم). The article uses a narrative review to highlight the potential applicability of the halalan toyyiban concept (as a faith-based intervention) to promote a healthy diet among youth. Faith-based intervention involves integrating religious beliefs into the intervention process. To provide context, this article explores the application of interventions such as multimodal nutrition education and digital approaches to improve dietary habits among youth. Various interventions targeting university students' dietary habits yielded mixed results. This highlights the necessity for multifaceted intervention approaches. The article posits combining the halalan toyyiban concept with digital technology to enhance university students' healthy dietary practices

    Penilaian kualiti modul iPBL: aspek kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan

    Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menilai kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan Modul iPBL dalam kursus Pendidikan Islam yang digunakan di Politeknik Brunei Darussalam. Modul iPBL diberikan kepada enam orang panel bagi menentukan kesahan modul. Manakala, 41 orang pelajar dari dua buah kelas telah dipilih untuk mengukur kebolehpercayaan modul ini dengan menilai keberkesanan pengajaran setiap kali sesi pengajaran. Dapatan menunjukkan bahawa modul yang dibangunkan mempunyai kesahan yang tinggi dan kebolehpercayaan yang baik dengan nilai alfa Cronbach 0.96. Walau bagaimanapun, terdapat beberapa aspek yang perlu diberi penambahbaikan bagi memastikan modul yang dibangunkan dapat menepati objektif dan mampu dilaksanakan. Modul yang dibangunkan ini diharapkan dapat dijadikan bahan pembelajaran yang baik dan berkesan terutamanya dalam menerapkan nilai-nilai Islam ke dalam diri pelajar

    Analysis of The Potential of Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Digital Marketing Sector

    Women’s economic empowerment refers to the process of enabling women to have broader control of their economic lives, including their access to resources, opportunities, and decision-making power. If women are empowered economically, they are better able to support themselves and their families, contribute to their communities, and support economic growth. Women entrepreneurs should implement current technology to maximize their business and marketing. By using digital applications, innovative creations can be provided uniquely and expanded into various materials. Furthermore, there are applications that help users to do independent financial management, having unique branding, global networking and promotions. Digital marketing helps to expand product reach in society and social media accelerates communication with customers. By attending workshops, joining industry associations, and participating in events or online communities, women can enrich their talents, access funding from organizations that support women entrepreneurs, and increase family economic support. On the other hand, there are some constraints faced, such as taking care of children and budgeting limitations for increasing their skills. This study was conducted to analyze twenty-five women’s potential in the digital marketing sector through counseling and training programs. They were from  the local Batik home industry of 12 villages in Malang Regency, East Java province. These participants were chosen purposively from 100 members of PKK (Empowerment of Family Welfare) who participated in workshops and training local batik and have unique characteristics since their houses are located on the border of Malang city and Malang regency and their lifestyle is such that they are using a cellphone in daily life but not maximizing information from it, having social communities, but not maximizing their potencies in economics opportunities. This study used a quantitative approach. Data was collected through the questionnaire distribution to participants in training activities. Data analysis was carried out using SWOT analysis. The results showed that women’s perception and understanding of digital marketing in the research area were classified as low (80%), and this is also represented as a weakness and thread (80%). In order to solve this problem, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) are suggested to collaborate with stakeholders in developing a sustainable program for digital marketing improvement, having support and access to markets from the governance.
