    Perkhidmatan bimbingan dan kaunseling terhadap Murid Berkeperluan Khas (MBK) di Sekolah Integrasi didapati kurang difokuskan oleh Guru Bimbingan dan Kaunseling Sekolah (GBKS). Hal ini disebabkan kekurangan kompetensi kaunseling multibudaya dalam kalangan GBKS terhadap klien yang mempunyai perbezaan budaya. Isu kompetensi kaunseling multibudaya ini merangkumi tiga aspek iaitu Kesedaran, Pengetahuan dan Kemahiran. Oleh itu, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mendalami penglibatan GBKS terhadap MBK dan meneroka elemen dalam kompetensi kaunseling multibudaya. Kajian ini dijalankan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif Straussian-Grounded Theory dan menggunakan perisian ATLAS.ti dalam proses menganalisis data

    Intervention and treatment for substance use disorder: An overview in Malaysia

    Substance Use Disorder (SUD) are patterns of maladaptive use of psychoactive drugs that lead to significant levels of impaired functioning or personal distress. SUD often result in not only serious harm to the health of the individuals, but also enormous financial and social consequences that go beyond the health care system such as loss of economic productivity due to withdrawal from the workplace and increased rates of crime, injury, disability and death. Individuals who experience a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) may also experience a dual diagnosis or co-occurring mental disorder such as anxiety, psychosis, depression and others. A dual diagnosis presents a challenging problem to mental health workers and service planners as Substance Use Disorders (SUD) occurring together with mental health disorders represent a major health problem. SUD is also a heavy burden for the government because it needs a lot of enforcement from the authorities and drains available health care resources. Moreover, the intervention and treatment of SUD is a complex, multidimensional, and long-term endeavor that often requires specialized care tailored to the substance and the severity of the pattern of use. Therefore this paper aims to discuss an overview of SUD and it also cover the contributory factors of SUD and intervention or treatment modalities available for its management in Malaysia

    Perlaksanaan perkhidmatan bimbingan dan kaunseling di sekolah memerlukan Guru Bimbingan dan Kaunseling Sekolah (GBKS) bertindak untuk memberikan perkhidmatan tersebut kepada semua pelajar, sama ada pelajar aliran perdana mahupun Murid Berkeperluan Khas (MBK), seperti mana yang telah digariskan dalam Buku Rekod Perkhidmatan Bimbingan dan Kaunseling. Situasi ini telah memberikan cabaran kepada GBKS terutama dalam memenuhi keperluan khusus MBK. Perkara ini menimbulkan persoalan berkaitan dengan keterlibatan GBKS dalam menyediakan perkhidmatan bimbingan dan kaunseling khususnya kepada MBK serta cabaran yang dilalui dalam melaksanakan perkhidmatan ini. Oleh itu, sebuah kajian berbentuk kualitatif telah dilaksanakan untuk menjawab persoalan tersebut. Kajian ini melibatkan enam orang GBKS yang berkhidmat di sekolah yang mengamalkan Program Pendidikan Khas Integrasi atau Program Pendidikan Inklusif. Soalan temubual berbentuk separa berstruktur telah digunakan untuk mendapatkan maklumat berkaitan. Dapatan kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa keterlibatan GBKS terhadap MBK berlaku secara langsung dan tidak langsung. Manakala cabaran yang dilalui GBKS dalam melaksanakan perkhidmatan bimbingan dan kaunseling dibahagikan kepada tiga tema, iaitu cabaran bercirikan GBKS, cabaran bercirikan MBK dan cabaran bercirikan Organisasi. Perolehan dapatan kajian ini dapat menyumbang maklumat mengenai pelaksanaan perkhidmatan bimbingan dan kaunseling kepada MBK, seterusnya digunakan sebagai penambahbaikan garis panduan yang sedia ada bagi meningkatkan keterlibatan

    Spiritual mempunyai hubungan yang positif terhadap kesihatan fizikal, psikologi dan perkembangan individu seperti identiti, pandangan alam, pengurusan stres dan sebagainya. Bagaimanapun, kajian-kajian lepas menunjukkan bahawa kebanyakan kaunselor pelatih tidak kompeten dalam mengintegrasikan pengetahuan spiritual dalam sesi kaunseling. Kajian-kajian berkenaan kaunseling spiritual telah banyak dilakukan di luar negara akan tetapi kajian dalam negara Malaysia berkenaan topik ini adalah kurang dan terhad. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenalpasti hubungan di antara efikasi kendiri kaunseling dan kompetensi kaunseling spiritual dalam kalangan kaunselor pelatih. Efikasi kendiri kaunseling dipilih sebagai salah satu faktor atas cadangan para pengkaji yang lain.     Implementation of guidance and counselling services in schools requires School Guidance and Counselling Teachers (SGCT) to provide this services to all students, whether the mainstream students or Special Needs Students (SNT), as outlined in the Buku Rekod Perkhidmatan Bimbingan dan Kaunseling (Guidance and Counselling Services Record Book). This situation has challenged SGCT especially in meeting the specific needs of SNT. This raises questions regarding the involvement of SGCT in providing guidance and counselling services especially to SNT as well as challenges faced in implementing such services. Therefore, a qualitative study has been conducted to answer the questions. This study involved six SGCT who serve in schools that adopt the Integrated Special Education Program or the Inclusive Education Program. Semi-structured interview questions have been used to obtain relevant information. The finding of this study shows that there are direct and indirect SGCT's involvements with SNT. While the challenges that GBKS face in carrying out guidance and counselling services are divided into three themes, namely the challenges characterized by SGCT, challenges characterized by SNT and challenges characterized by the Organization. The findings of this study can provide information on the implementation of guidance and counselling services to SNT and can be used as an improvement of the existing guidelines to increase the involvement of SGCT in providing guidance and counselling services especially to SNT

This unique challenge is due to their responsibility in providing guidance and counselling services to two groups of client, the mainstream students and the Special Needs Students. Previous study found that School Guidance and Counselling Teachers were less involved in providing guidance and counselling services to Special Needs Students and their counseling competence towards Special Needs Students level was indicated from low to moderate. Therefore, further studies on involvement and competencies need to be implemented. A qualitative research methodology such as Multiple Case Studies is the ideal research design for this study.     Psychological States of Rural Area’s Children During Covid-19 Pandemic

    As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic sweeps across the world, it has a profound effect on human psychological and daily life. However, fewer studies are focusing on children’s psychological states. The purpose of the present study aimed to examine the children’s psychological state and their emotions during the crisis of COVID-19. There were 14 children aged 7-12 years living in the rural areas in Sabah were recruited. By using the Collage Life Story Elicitation Technique (CLET), the thematic analysis indicated that a minority of the children expressed concern, anxiety, and gloomy verbally and non-verbally. Surprisingly, most of them accepted the new norms implemented by the Government, for instance, they understand that they must wear a face mask whenever they are outing and practice proper hygiene even though they are living in a rural area. The output of the present study reflected the children’s awareness of the coronavirus pandemic and adults are playing a vital role to ensure the wellbeing and welfare of the children

    Kualiti hidup merupakan salah satu indikator yang digunakan untuk mengukur kesejahteraan hidup seseorang individu terutamanya penjaga keluarga pesakit kronik yang berada pada fasa terminal kerana pada fasa ini pesakit kronik ini memerlukan penjagaan yang rapi dan berterusan daripada ahli keluarga mereka. Oleh yang demikian, penggunaan alat ujian dalam kajian ini perlu bersesuaian dengan populasi kajian ini. Tujuan kajian ini dijalankan adalah untuk menilai kesahan kandungan Adult Carer Quality Of Life versi Bahasa Melayu bagi menentukan kesesuaian penggunaan instrumen terhadap penjaga pesakit kanser kronik yang berada pada fasa terminal di Malaysia. Seramai dua orang pakar bahasa dan tiga orang pakar dalam bidang kerja sosial yang banyak terlibat dalam kajian penjagaan sosial ini telah terlibat di dalam proses menjalankan kesahan Kandungan alat kajian M-AC-QOL. Proses penterjemahan dan adaptasi borang telah dijalankan berdasarkan panduan piawai. Tiada item yang digugurkan ketika proses penilaian oleh ketiga-tiga pakar penilai kerana kesemua item didapati sesuai dan berkaitan dengan kesejahteraan hidup dan penglibatan sosial dalam kalangan penjaga utama pesakit kanser kronik di Malaysia. Kesahan kandungan yang dijalankan oleh 3 orang pakar tersebut juga didapati tinggi. Jumlah keseluruhan skala index atau Scale-Content Validity Instrument-universal agreement (S-CVI/UA) bagi kesahan kandungan untuk alat ujian M-AC-QOL adalah 0.85. Manakala purata nilai scale-content validity index/Average S-CVI/Ave pula adalah 0.88. Seterusnya nilai index Subcale Item-level face validity index S-FVI/Ave bagi kesahan muka untuk alat ujian M-AC-QOL adalah 0.80. Selain itu, satu ujian pra telah dijalankan terhadap 10 orang penjaga pesakit kanser fasa terminal bagi menilai kefahaman terhadap setiap item yang terdapat dalam instrumen M-AC-QOL. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan alat ujian M-AC-QOL mencatatkan nilai index agak baik dan sesuai digunakan untuk populasi penjaga pesakit kanser yang mendapatkan perkhidmatan penjagaan paliatif di pusat penjagaan paliatif dan hospis yang terdapat di sekitar Malaysia. Walaupun alat kajian ini telah menjalani kesahan kandungan dan kesahan muka melalui pakar kesahan kandungan alat ujian dan kesahan muka dengan penjaga pesakit kronik yang berada pada fasa terminal namun satu kajian rintis lagi perlu dijalankan untuk melihat kesahan-kesahan lain seperti kesahan konstruk dan analisis penerokaan faktor untuk alat ujian ini
