Absorption spectra and structure of benzimidazoquinozalinone derivatives

    No full text
Infrared and electronic spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescent analysis were used to study the structures of 5,6-dihydrobenzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-c]quinazolin-6- one and its 5-ethyl and carboxy and sulfo derivatives. The latter compounds we obtained for the first time. The ketone and its monocarboxy derivative exist as lactam tautomers, and the sulfo derivative, in the zwitter ion form. Electronic and energy characteristics of the compounds were calculated by the Pariser-Parr-Pople method. © 2008 MAIK Nauka

Systematic assessment of local & global signal control policies: A methodological perspective

    No full text
Traffic control performance on networks depends on the flow response to the policy adopted, which in turn contributes to determine the optimal signal settings. This paper focuses on the relationship between local and network wide traffic control policies within the combined traffic control and assignment problem. Through a full exploration of the solution space, an in depth cross comparison is performed between the well-known local policies P0 and Equisaturation, versus the global policies Maximum Throughput and Minimum Delay, to verify how the two local policies approximate the optimal settings for signalized intersections. Realistic traffic dynamics, such as congestion, multiple controllers and spillback are considered, to empirically determine the conditions under which the local policies are able to approximate global performances. After presenting the different local and global control policies, experiments are performed on simple toy networks. The complexity of the underlying network and, therefore, of the problems' boundary conditions is then increased, allowing us to showcase how the different metrics perform in different situations. Finally, conclusions on the results are drawn. © 2015 BME

Serological Analysis of Immunogenic Properties of Recombinant Meningococcus IgA1 Protease-Based Proteins

Using the genome sequence of IgA1 protease of N. meningitidis of serogroup B, four recombinant proteins of different structure and molecular weight were constructed. These proteins were equal in inducing the formation of specific antibodies to IgA1 protease and had protective properties against meningococci. In the sera of immunized mice, anti-IgA1 protease antibodies were detected by whole-cell ELISA, which indicated the presence of IgA1 protease on the surface of these bacteria. We hypothesized that the protective properties of IgA1 protease-based antigens and IgA1 protease analogs could be realized not only via impairment of bacterium adhesion to the mucosa, but also via suppression of this pathogen in the organism. The presented findings seem promising for using these proteins as the basis for anti-meningococcus vaccine. © 2016, Springer Science+Business Media New York
