On Statistical Properties of Jizba-Arimitsu Hybrid Entropy

Jizba-Arimitsu entropy (also called hybrid entropy) combines axiomatics of R\'enyi and Tsallis entropy. It has many common properties with them, on the other hand, some aspects as e.g., MaxEnt distributions, are completely different from the former two entropies. In this paper, we demonstrate the statistical properties of hybrid entropy, including the definition of hybrid entropy for continuous distributions, its relation to discrete entropy and calculation of hybrid entropy for some well-known distributions. Additionally, definition of hybrid divergence and its connection to Fisher metric is also discussed. Interestingly, the main properties of continuous hybrid entropy and hybrid divergence are completely different from measures based on R\'enyi and Tsallis entropy. This motivates us to introduce average hybrid entropy, which can be understood as an average between Tsallis and R\'enyi entropy

Counting colonies of clonogenic assays by using densitometric software

    Get PDF
Clonogenic assays are a useful tool to test whether a given cancer therapy can reduce the clonogenic survival of tumour cells. A colony is defined as a cluster of at least 50 cells which can often only be determined microscopically. The process of counting colonies is very extensive work and so we developed software that is able to count the colonies automatically from scanned flasks. This software is made freely available by us with a detailed description how to use and install the necessary features

Mouse Simulation Using Two Coloured Tapes

In this paper, we present a novel approach for Human Computer Interaction (HCI) where, we control cursor movement using a real-time camera. Current methods involve changing mouse parts such as adding more buttons or changing the position of the tracking ball. Instead, our method is to use a camera and computer vision technology, such as image segmentation and gesture recognition, to control mouse tasks (left and right clicking, double-clicking, and scrolling) and we show how it can perform everything as current mouse devices can. The software will be developed in JAVA language. Recognition and pose estimation in this system are user independent and robust as we will be using colour tapes on our finger to perform actions. The software can be used as an intuitive input interface to applications that require multi-dimensional control e.g. computer games etc.Comment: 5 page

Spaces of uτu\tau-Dunford-Pettis and uτu\tau-Compact Operators on Locally Solid Vector Lattices

Suppose XX is a locally solid vector lattice. It is known that there are several non-equivalent spaces of bounded operators on XX. In this paper, we consider some situations under which these classes of bounded operators form locally solid vector lattices. In addition, we generalize some notions of uawuaw-Dunford-Pettis operators and uawuaw-compact operators defined on a Banach lattice to general theme of locally solid vector lattices. With the aid of appropriate topologies, we investigate some relations between topological and lattice structures of these operators. In particular, we characterize those spaces for which these concepts of operators and the corresponding classes of bounded ones coincide.Comment: 7 pages. To appear in MATEMATI\v{C}KI VESNIK journa
