The differences between “body sense” separated from one’s autonomy and “felt sense” are discussed. First, a female client suffering from atopic dermatitis was presented. One of the authors, Itoh applied a focusing technique at the second therapeutic interview. She felt that her back was “safe”. When she experienced “felt sense” of the inside of her elbow, she began to tremble holding her body with her arms, which seemed to show her suffering. The therapist told her to feel her back. She soon stopped trembling and said that she began to feel relaxed. After the focusing session she said that the safe feeling of her back was very unpredictable because she usually scratched her back badly because of itchiness. While the itchiness is considered a “body sense” separated from one’s autonomy, the safe feeling is a “felt sense” linked to one’s autonomy. Next, the effectiveness of body massage to the “generalization of the focusing manner of experiencing in daily life” was investigated. The body massage of Nishizawa (one of the authors) decreased the measure of “state anxiety” of five participants in a statistically significant way. However, contrary to the authors’ expectations, the body massage decreases the measure of the generalization of focusing manner in a statistically significant way. This result was interpreted as follows:. The pain or the tension felt by the participants, “body sense separated from their autonomy”, was alleviated by another person (Nishizawa), which had nothing to do with their autonomy. In conclusion, connecting “body sense separated from one’s autonomy” to one’s autonomy is considered to be one of the important keys to psychotherapy

Development of a mugineic acid family phytosiderophore analog as an iron fertilizer

Iron (Fe) is an essential nutrient, but is poorly bioavailable because of its low solubility in alkaline soils; this leads to reduced agricultural productivity. To overcome this problem, we first showed that the soil application of synthetic 2′-deoxymugineic acid, a natural phytosiderophore from the Poaceae, can recover Fe deficiency in rice grown in calcareous soil. However, the high cost and poor stability of synthetic 2′-deoxymugineic acid preclude its agricultural use. In this work, we develop a more stable and less expensive analog, proline-2′-deoxymugineic acid, and demonstrate its practical synthesis and transport of its Fe-chelated form across the plasma membrane by Fe(III)•2’-deoxymugineic acid transporters. Possibility of its use as an iron fertilizer on alkaline soils is supported by promotion of rice growth in a calcareous soil by soil application of metal free proline-2’-deoxymugineic acid

Elderly people are prone to impair the functions of daily living that require nursing care. If they are vulnerable to participate in society, there is a risk that living alone will become an unfeasible risk for them. To support elderly people living alone to participate in society, local governments have beentaking initiatives to prevent them from becoming housebound, but that in these initiatives are limited. Along with local social welfare councils and welfare committees, student volunteers will contribute to effective community activities to maintain a healthy life expectancy for elderly people. We conducted a health education program and surveyed and analyzed the health status and subjective well-being of elderly people living alone in the study area. Regarding subjective health, 81.1% of participants were currently healthy, as the results suggested that participants were aware of a decline in their mental and physical functioning, were interested in healthcare and health. and as results, they were maintaining their living-alone lifestyle and think how to deal with health matters in their own way
