Multiple Retroperitoneal Schwannomas Mimicking Adrenal Tumors
Schwannomas are benign tumors mostly arising from the head and neck. Retroperitoneal schwannomas are rare. Here we report the case of a 68-year-old woman with multiple retroperitoneal schwannomas. An abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan showed 1 non-enhancing mass with a low-density area, 4.6 cm in diameter, in the left adrenal region and another non-enhancing mass with a low-density area, 2.9 cm in diameter, in the para-aortic region. The patient had regularly undergone CT scans for malignant tumor screening in maintenance dialysis patients. Retrospectively, the 2 tumors had existed in the same regions in previous CT scans and had gradually increased in size. The tumors were completely resected. Pathological diagnosis of both tumors was schwannoma. When a CT scan shows a slowly growing retroperitoneal tumor with a low-density area, schwannoma should be considered. If the tumor increases in size, complete resection should be performed for pathological diagnosis
Post-traumatic diaphragmatic herniation of the liver, examined by positron emission tomography: case report
We present a case of post-traumatic diaphragmatic herniation of the liver, which mimicked an intrathoracic tumor. After an automobile accident, the patient underwent thoracotomies for hemothorax and lung cancer in the right chest. Seven months later, computed tomography (CT) demonstrated a round tumor in the thorax adjacent to the right diaphragm with a higher density than the liver parenchyma. An intrathoracic tumor including a primary or metastatic lung cancer was suspected. However, positron emission tomography (PET) showed that the uptake of fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) was identical to that in the liver, and the tumor appeared to be contiguous with the liver. Thus, we suspected liver herniation. Core needle biopsy revealed liver cells without neoplastic tissue. Upon surgical exploration, herniation of the liver was found and repaired. PET was helpful in providing morphological and functional information leading to accurate diagnosis of liver herniation in this unusual case

Abstract: In this study, we have identified and characterized three genomes from bacteria isolated from the rhizosphere of Triticum aestivum. Streptomyces virginiae CMAA1738 and Paenibacillus ottowii CMAA1739 were obtained from the wheat landrace Iran 1-29-11334, and Pseudomonas inefficax CMAA1741 was isolated from the wheat landrace Karakilcik.On-line first
The impact of soil microbiome diversity on rhizosphere microbial communities'assembly and plant health.
The rhizosphere microbiome plays a significant role in the host plant?s health, such as defense against soil-borne diseases. However, the understanding of how the rhizosphere soil microbiome diversity impacts plant protection in production systems is still limited. This study aims to evaluate the impact of rhizosphere microbiome diversity in wheat plants inoculated with the soil-borne pathogen Bipolaris sorokiniana, with/without the antagonist Pseudomonas sp. CMAA1741, under a gradient of soil microbiome diversity. We hypothesized that the diversity and functionality of the rhizosphere determine the success of the antagonist bacterium establishment in the rhizosphere. Thus, a bioassay was conducted using natural soil, autoclaved soil, and three different dilutions of natural soil on autoclaved soil. The results showed that antagonist inoculated treatments resulted in higher plant height and root dry mass, while, in soils with low diversity, the severity disease index and the biocontrol effect of the antagonist were higher across all treatments that received the fungal pathogen with/without inoculant, respectively. Sterilized soils inoculated with both agents had the most effectiveness in pathogen biocontrol, with enrichment of Chtoniobacter and Chitinophaga bacterial genera in this treatment. Also, an increase of Chitinophaga bacterial genus and Alternaria, Chaetomium, and Waitea fungal genera were observed when just pathogen was inoculated in soils
Radiotherapy for mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma of the ocular adnexa
Objectives: We investigated the results of radiotherapy for mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma of the ocular adnexa. Methods: Twenty-one patients with MALT lymphoma of the ocular adnexa were treated with radiotherapy alone at a dose ranging from 30 to 54Gy. The disease arose from the conjunctiva in 15 patients (9 with bilateral involvement), and from the retrobulbar space in 6 patients (1 with bilateral involvement). Results: All patients with MALT lymphoma achieved a CR or unconfirmed CR (CRu). The 5-and 10-year overall survival rates of all patients with MALT lymphoma were 100% and 90%, respectively. The 5-and 10-year cause-specific survival rates were 100% and 100%, respectively. In all patients with delayed toxicity, the radiation dose was more than 40Gy. Conclusions: Excellent local control and survival can be achieved for patients with MALT lymphoma of the ocular adnexa using radiotherapy alone

The purpose of this study was to investigate composition factor of "Team Satisfaction" on basketball club team members and to suggest the way of improving "Team Satisfaction". The subjects were 144 participant belonging to various basketball club teams. The results were summarized as fellows: 1) Basketball club team members were satisfied with various things of their activities. 2) Five factors were extracted as the determinant factors of "Team Satisfaction". These were "Communication and Mood", "Practicing and Leader", "Motivation of upskilling", "Self-efficacy" and "Winning desire". 3) One factor was contribute to "Team Satisfaction". This was "Communication and Mood". These results suggest that the most important thing to improve "Team Satisfaction" is making a good relationship among team-mates
Features of Phyllodes Tumours and Fibroadenomas Differ on MR Images
This retrospective study aimed to determine how the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and histopathological findings of phyllodes tumours (PT) and fibroadenomas (FA) correlate and verify whether they are useful for preoperative diagnosis.
We retrospectively reviewed 12 PT and 43 FA that were surgically resected after MRI assessment between 2009 and 2015. The shape and signal intensity (SI) of the tumours on T2-weighted images (T2WI), the apparent diffusion coefficient, and SI were dynamically assessed.
High SI areas suggestive of haemorrhage were significantly more frequent on pre-contrast T1WI of PT than that of FA (66.7% vs. 16.2%, p = 0.00034).
The results of the SI analysis showed a higher intratumoural SI for PT than FA on T2WI (7.07 vs. 4.37, p = 0.0022).
Overall enhancement was more intense among PT than FA, while SI was significantly higher at 100 seconds (2.03 vs. 1.60, p = 0.043) when enhanced effects on pre-enhanced tumours were quantified based on SI ratios.
Not only can MRI morphologically differentiate PT from FA, it can also provide information about tissue composition and vascularization, the quantitation of which seems useful for differentiation
