Motion of Fullerenes around Topological Defects on Metals: Implications for the Progress of Molecular Scale Devices
Research on motion of molecules in the presence of thermal noise is central for progress in two-terminal molecular scale electronic devices. However, it is still unclear what influence imperfections in bottom metal electrode surface can have on molecular motion. Here, we report a two-layer crowding study, detailing the early stages of surface motion of fullerene molecules on Au(111) with nanoscale pores in a n-tetradecane chemical environment. The motion of the fullerenes is directed by crowding of the underlying n-tetradecane molecules around the pore fringes at the liquid–solid interface. We observe in real-space the growth of molecular populations around different pore geometries. Supported by atomic-scale modeling, our findings extend the established picture of molecular crowding by revealing that trapped solvent molecules serve as prime nucleation sites at nanopore fringes.D.T. acknowledges Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) for financial support under Grant 15/CDA/3491 and for provision of computing resources at the SFI/Higher Education Authority Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC)
Electric field-modulated non-ohmic behavior of carbon nanotube fibers in polar liquids.
We report a previously unseen non-ohmic effect in which the resistivity of carbon nanotube fibers immersed in polar liquids is modulated by the applied electric field. This behavior depends on the surface energy, dielectric constant, and viscosity of the immersion media. Supported by synchrotron SAXS and impedance spectroscopy, we propose a model in which the gap distance, and thus the conductance, of capacitive interbundle junctions is controlled by the applied field.JT acknowledges generous financial support from: The Cambridge Commonwealth European and International Trust, CONACyT (Mexico), Dyson Ltd, and Pembroke College Cambridge. Rapid production of large-area, transparent and stretchable electrodes using metal nanofibers as wirelessly operated wearable heaters
A rapidly growing interest in wearable electronics has led to the development of stretchable and transparent heating films that can replace the conventional brittle and opaque heaters. Herein, we describe the rapid production of large-area, stretchable and transparent electrodes using electrospun ultra-long metal nanofibers (mNFs) and demonstrate their potential use as wirelessly operated wearable heaters. These mNF networks provide excellent optoelectronic properties (sheet resistance of similar to 1.3 O per sq with an optical transmittance of similar to 90%) and mechanical reliability (90% stretchability). The optoelectronic properties can be controlled by adjusting the area fraction of the mNF networks, which also enables the modulation of the power consumption of the heater. For example, the low sheet resistance of the heater presents an outstanding power efficiency of 0.65 W cm(-2) (with the temperature reaching 250 degrees C at a low DC voltage of 4.5 V), which is similar to 10 times better than the properties of conventional indium tin oxide-based heaters. Furthermore, we demonstrate the wireless fine control of the temperature of the heating film using Bluetooth smart devices, which suggests substantial promise for the application of this heating film in next-generation wearable electronics
Design and Fabrication of Drainage Cleaning Machine
In this project we've fabricated the drainage cleaning gadget. The primary purpose of the project is to lessen the person electricity, time intake for cleansing the drainage. The energy deliver is given to the motor for drainage cleansing from battery. This association includes motor, chain drive, wheel and amassing tank. The work has completed searching on the modern scenario of our countrywide rivers that are sell off with core liters of sewage and loaded with pollution ,poisonous substances ,debris and many others
