Structural Changes and Regional Disparity in China's Inflation

Get PDF
The inflation problem in China has attracted a great deal of international attention in recent years. This paper examines the time series properties of China's CPI series. It is found that the overall inflation series and the inflation of food, tobacco, clothes, urban transport and urban housing are not persistent. Structural breaks in inflation are found in 2003 and 2004. The degree of rural-urban inflation disparity in China is also investigated. We find evidence that rural residents experience higher inflation than their urban counterparts.Structural Break, Unit Root, ADF Test, Rural and Urban Inflation.

A strong convergence theorem on solving common solutions for generalized equilibrium problems and fixed-point problems in Banach space

Abstract In this paper, the common solution problem (P1) of generalized equilibrium problems for a system of inverse-strongly monotone mappings and a system of bifunctions satisfying certain conditions, and the common fixed-point problem (P2) for a family of uniformly quasi-ϕ-asymptotically nonexpansive and locally uniformly Lipschitz continuous or uniformly Hölder continuous mappings are proposed. A new iterative sequence is constructed by using the generalized projection and hybrid method, and a strong convergence theorem is proved on approximating a common solution of (P1) and (P2) in Banach space. 2000 MSC: 26B25, 40A05</p

SIRT3 Protects Rotenone-induced Injury in SH-SY5Y Cells by Promoting Autophagy through the LKB1-AMPK-mTOR Pathway.

SIRT3 is a class III histone deacetylase that modulates energy metabolism, genomic stability and stress resistance. It has been implicated as a potential therapeutic target in a variety of neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's disease (PD). Our previous study demonstrates that SIRT3 had a neuroprotective effect on a rotenone-induced PD cell model, however, the exact mechanism is unknown. In this study, we investigated the underlying mechanism. We established a SIRT3 stable overexpression cell line using lentivirus infection in SH-SY5Y cells. Then, a PD cell model was established using rotenone. Our data demonstrate that overexpression of SIRT3 increased the level of the autophagy markers LC3 II and Beclin 1. After addition of the autophagy inhibitor 3-MA, the protective effect of SIRT3 diminished: the cell viability decreased, while the apoptosis rate increased; α-synuclein accumulation enhanced; ROS production increased; antioxidants levels, including SOD and GSH, decreased; and MMP collapsed. These results reveal that SIRT3 has neuroprotective effects on a PD cell model by up-regulating autophagy. Furthermore, SIRT3 overexpression also promoted LKB1 phosphorylation, followed by activation of AMPK and decreased phosphorylation of mTOR. These results suggest that the LKB1-AMPK-mTOR pathway has a role in induction of autophagy. Together, our findings indicate a novel mechanism by which SIRT3 protects a rotenone-induced PD cell model through the regulation of autophagy, which, in part, is mediated by activation of the LKB1-AMPK-mTOR pathway

Flotation Characteristics and Particle Size Distribution of Micro-fine Low Rank Coal

AbstractIn this work, attempts to float the micro-fine low rank coal and its particle size distribution in the flotation were made. Then, standard screening, FT-IR, XRD and SEM were adopted to characterize the size distribution and flotation of micro-fine Shendong low rank coal. The results indicated that the size fraction of -0.045mm was the dominant size fraction in raw coal with a yield of 91.65% and ash content of 46.25%. Flotation of Shendong low rank coal required a larger dosage of collector, 50kg/t of diesel oil, to achieve a higher combustible matter recovery (63.25%) and flotation efficiency index (40.70%) accompanied with a significant decrease in ash content (22.44 percentage points) due to the hydrophilicity of coal surface. Under this condition, concentrate contained 83.38% of -0.045mm size fraction (38.04% of total particles in feed) with ash content of 24.98%. In comparison, tailing was almost consisted of -0.045mm fraction (93.63%) with a higher ash content of 60.82%. It seems that the higher ash particles in feed were largely migrated in tailing at a proper collector dosage. The analysis of FT-IR, XRD and SEM would contribute to the understanding of the flotation and size distribution

Responses and sensitivities of maize phenology to climate change from 1971 to 2020 in Henan Province, China.

Climate change affects many aspects of the physiological and biochemical processes of growing maize and ultimately its yield. A comprehensive climate suitability model is proposed that quantifies the effects of temperature, precipitation, solar radiation, and wind in different phenological stages of maize. It is calibrated using weather and yield data from China's Henan Province. The comprehensive suitability model showed the capability of correctly hindcasting observed temporal and spatial changes in maize phenology in response to climatic factors. The predicted yield based on the suitability model can well match the recorded field yield very well from 1971-2020. The results of correlation showed that the yields are more closely related to multi-weather factors, temperature and precipitation than to solar radiation and wind. The sensitivity analysis illustrates that temperature and precipitation are the dominant weather factors affecting yield changes based on a direct differentiation method. The comprehensive suitability model can provide a scientific support and analysis tool for predicting grain production considering climate changes
