The implementation of science practicum is one of the challenges in the open distance education system. The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of the Kit IPA variable and the pattern of guidance on the implementation and evaluation of Science Practicum activities in Distance Learning. The type of research in this study is an explanatory research with a quantitative approach involving a number of 306 students who have taken the Science Practicum course in the Elementary School Teacher Education program. Respondents' responses were analyzed using a Likert scale and data analysis using the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results of the data have met the Model Suitability Test (Goodness of Fit Test) which includes: Science Kit and Guidance Patterns have a significant effect on Practicum Implementation. Guidance pattern has a significant effect on practicum evaluation, but Kit IPA and practicum implementation have no significant effect on practicum evaluation. The implication of this research is that it provides the potential for improvement in the implementation of science practicum in distance education due to the needs of the educational community

Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is one of the major causes of death in the worldwide. Clinical manifestations are different. So it's necessary to have knowledge about the types of symptoms experienced by patients with ACS. This study was performed to assay the Relationship of some risk factors and symptoms in patients with acute coronary syndrome. This cross-sectional study, were studied 294 patients with acute coronary syndrome at least 24 hours after admission had survived. Data was collected by a questionnaire that included demographic data form and check list of some symptoms and history of risk factors. There was a significant relationship between STEMI with vomiting (OR=1.94) and anxiety (OR=1.83) and UA with vomiting (OR=0.42). Between sex with weakness (OR=2.29) and anxiety (OR=1.82), diabetes with dyspenea (OR=1.8), weakness (OR=1.02) and tinnitus (OR=2.06) and hyperlipidemia with weakness (OR=2.35) and tinnitus (OR=2.49) was available significant difference. The findings of this study indicate that the appearance of symptoms of acute coronary syndrome were different as for ECG changes and risk factors, and more focused on those symptoms that they are common with any other diseases. Since, many of the symptoms of acute coronary syndrome can be potentially dangerous and life threatening, accurate diagnosis and timely action is crucial for the patients

Aims: The study's purpose was to determine reliability and validity of the King spiritual intelligence questionnaires in veterans of Iran-Iraq Warfare. Methods: In this cross sectional study, 300 veterans of the Iran-Iraq war completed the King spiritual intelligence questionnaires. Principal components analysis (PCA) with varimax rotation was used to assess domain structure of the King spiritual intelligence questionnaires. Internal and external consistency reliability was assessed with Cronbach's alpha and intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC). Results: Internal consistency of King spiritual intelligence questions estimated with Cronbach's alpha, 0.872 and intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC).872 (CI 95%: 0.84 -0.89). The construct validity of the questionnaire was calculated using exploratory factor analysis that showed 3 factors with Eigen values of greater than one, which explained in total 44.7% of the variance. (1, 8 items, α= 0.87; 2, 5. items; α = 0.89; 3, 2 items, α= 0.51). Conclusion: The Persian version of King spiritual intelligence questionnaire demonstrated suitable validity and reliability among the Veterans of Iran-Iraq Warfare. With the consideration of the proper psychometric characteristics, this questionnaire can be used to further research spiritual intelligence in this population

Domestic violence and its association with domains of reproductive health in women: A systematic review

Background and purpose: Violence is one of the main aspects of gender inequality that is a major barrier to achieving the goals of global reproductive health. It is directly associated with women's access to health care and health outcomes. In a systematic review, we aimed to investigate the articles on the relationship between intimate partner violence and women's reproductive health. Materials and methods: Electronic databases including, Scopus, ProQuest, PubMed, and Google Scholar were searched for articles published in English between 2010 and 2017. Results: After evaluation, 31 articles were selected. The lowest and highest prevalence of violence was associated with physical violence (2.8) and psychological violence (75.9), respectively. Moreover, violence was found to be associated with six domains of reproductive health including, not using contraceptive methods, abortion, genital tract diseases, poor pregnancy outcomes, and not using reproductive health services. Conclusion: Systematic review of studies investigated, showed a strong relationship between domestic violence and major aspects of reproductive health. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent domestic violence in order to promote the health of whole community. © 2018, Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. All rights reserved

The intensive culture of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) evaluated in fibreglass tanks (2*2m) with feeding on pellet during 8 weeks. The fish (n=201)of common carp selected from three treatments along with three replicates as the average of fish weight was less than 100(g )which divided into 0.05).The common pellet food was chosen for feeding from market as fish were fed by the mean of 4% of their body weight a day. The result indicated that the mean of particular growth ratio at first treatment (0.54) has higher than second treatment (0.34) but in comparison with third treatment (0.46), there was no statistically significant difference (P<0.05).Also, the conversion ratio at first treatment (5.28) and third treatment (6.09) was lower than second treatment (35.66) and third treatment (20.91) was lower than second treatment (24.24), (P<0.05). This study showed that monoculture in small scale is feasible by utilizing artificial diet, if the water quality is exposed to change. In this survey, the conversion ratio of the fish was relatively high whereas the growth rate was low

Controlling and characterising the deposits from polymer droplets containing microparticles and salt

It is very well known that as suspension droplets evaporate, a pinned contact line leads to strong outwards capillary flow resulting in a robust coffee ring-stain at the periphery of the droplet. Conversely tall pillars are deposited in the centre of the droplet when aqueous droplets of poly(ethylene oxide) evaporate following a boot-strapping process in which the contact line undergoes fast receding, driven by polymer precipitation. Here we map out the phase behaviour of a combined particle-polymer system, illustrating a range of final deposit shapes, from ring-stain to flat deposit to pillar. Deposit topologies are measured using profile images and stylus profilometery, and characterised using the skewness of the profile as a simple analytic method for quantifying the shapes: pillars produce positive skew, flat deposits have zero skew and ring-stains have a negative value. We also demonstrate that pillar formation can be disrupted using potassium sulphate salt solutions, which change the water from a good solvent to a thetapoint solvent, consequently reducing the size of the polymer coils. This inhibits polymer crystallisation, interfering with the bootstrap process and ultimately preventing pillars from forming. Again, the deposit shapes are quantified using the skew parameter

    No full text
Video-Based Interaction (VBI) for teachers does not have any meaning without the presence of an instructor and a process of interaction. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of VBI in Teacher Working Group (TWG) forums to improve teachers’ professionalism in science learning in elementary schools. This study involved 36 teachers in rural and city areas by using a one group pretest - posttest design. N-gain was used to analyze the effectiveness of VBI in TWG forums to improve teachers’ teaching skills. The study showed that VBI significantly increases teacher professionalism to reach professional levels. The results were also consistent with the N-gain category of teacher professionalism in planning, implementation, and relations components
