Monte Carlo Simulation of Correction Factors for Neutron Activation Foils
In the conventional neutron activation analysis, the elemental concentrations are normally determined from the comparison ratios between the measured specific activities of the sample and the standard reference material. An advantage in the comparison ratio method is that the systematic error due to neutron self-shielding and multi-scattering effects is canceled out, and the correction factors can be ignored but the preparation of reference standards to match the same conditions with those of various samples is the main difficulty. In the modern trend of neutron activation analysis, the K0-standardization method has been developed and applied in almost all the NAA laboratories. An important research work in the procedure under this method is the characteristic information regarding the neutron source, such as thermal and epithermal neutron fluxes, and epithermal spectrum shape-factor. These neutron spectrum parameters are experimentally determined by using the activation foils, in which the corrections for all neutron effects cause systematic errors should be taken into account. Using the MCNP5 code, a well-known Monte Carlo simulation program, the results of correction factors of thermal, epithermal and resonance neutron self-shielding factors for Au, Co, Mn, W activation foils are presented in this chapter
Motivations and Barriers Towards The Adoption of Click-And-Collect Service in Vietnam
The demand for a seamless and channel-agnostic shopping experience propels global merchants towards omni-channel retailing. Click-and-collect (C&C), a service that allows customers to place orders online and collect them at a physical pick-up point, is among the fulfilment option in an omni-channel environment. By investigating the market of Vietnam, this research discovers that the convenience to reach a pick-up station, service cost, perceived efforts paid and service compatibility are four factors with significant impacts on the intention to adopt C&C service of customers. Three factors with considerable influence on consumers usage frequency are convenience to access a pick-up location, service compatibility and perceived efforts.
The second finding indicates that customers have different criteria for shopping methods in general and for C&C service in particular. While cost is the most essential element for Vietnamese people when selecting a shopping method, the convenience of accessing pick-up points has the greatest impact on C&C service uptake.
By investigating the operational activities of two businesses providing C&C service in Vietnam, several insights can be gained. First, inconsistent implementation of C&C across industries has resulted in a slow rate of development and adoption. Second, the disparity in collection point network of some existing players obstructs service development. The findings are expected to be useful for setting up strategies to promote C&C service in Vietnamese market
New record for Asia-Pacific of Protoperidinium anomaloplaxum (Peridiniales, Dinophyceae) from Vietnamese waters
Minusculum (Lebour) Balech is one of four subgenera of the genus Protoperidinium Bergh 1881. Only five species of this subgenus have been discovered worldwide, most of which are distributed in cold waters. In this study, Protoperidinium anomaloplaxum (Balech) Balech is reported from Vietnam and thus for the first time from Asia-Pacific waters. This species is illustrated with line drawing, light and scanning electron microscopic photographs and described details of the ornamentation of the thecal plates as well as its geographic distribution.
AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE COMMON ERRORS OF WORD FORM USED IN WRITING OF THE FRESHMEN: A CASE STUDY
English has been used all across the world, including in Vietnam. From middle school to high school and even university, Vietnamese students have numerous opportunities to engage with English grammar, but there is still a significant gap between their understanding and the correct application of English grammar. In fact, Grammar has a significant impact on the writing skills of Vietnamese students in general, and especially the first-year students of English majors who were not much exposed to writing in high school, so they are not yet used to writing at a higher level. The majority of errors in their writings are due to the influence of their mother tongue and a lack of frequent practice and their misuse of word forms, as a matter of fact, the expected results have not been satisfactory. Based on the general insight into the writing competence of the freshmen, the study titled āAn investigation into the common errors of word forms made in the writings of the freshmen: A case studyā was done with the English-major students. A close survey was deliberately done with 142 paragraphs written by the first-year students to investigate the common errors of word forms made in their writings. From what was collected, the study subsequently offered some suggestions for helping the students improve their writing skills.Ā Article visualizations
Saprochaete Capitata Infection in an 80Ć¢ā¬āYear Old Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Patient: A Case Report
BACKGROUND: The fungal disease caused by invasive fungus Saprochaete capitata is becoming an increasingly popular infection. Fungal pathogens mainly occur in patients with immunocompromised disorders such as hematologic malignancies, acute myeloid leukemia, transplant patients.
CASE REPORT: In this study, we presented a COPD patient infected with S. capitata. At the first check, the patient showed cough, dyspnea, chest pain on both sides. The clinical laboratory test result was characterized with high White blood cell (12.8 G/L), HIV negative. The X ray showed bronchitis and emphysema. Bronchoscopy illustrated bronchial mucositis. CT scanner demonstrated pneumonia with fuzzy nodular lesions and thick interstitial organization in both lungs. The patient was treated with ciprofloxacin 800 mg/day; cefuroxime 2250 mmg/day. However, the fever appeared 2 weeks thereafter. The S. capitata was discovered in the bronchial fluid. The patient was then treated with fluconazole 400 mg/day for 14 days. At the end of treatment, all signs and symptoms of S. capitata infection disappeared and the patient recovered.
CONCLUSION: This case study showed that S. capitata infection can occur in the COPD patients and fluconazole is a pertinent drug for treatment of the infection
Kognitivne perspektive, inovativnost i konkurentska prednost stratega: empirijska studija u Vijetnamu
The main aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between strategistsā
intuitive and analytical thinking, innovation, and corporate competitive advantage.
This study not only proposes the new model to the academic world but also provides
the empirical investigation on the direct and indirect effect of a strategistās analytic
reasoning perspective and strategistās generative reasoning perspective on
innovation and competitive advantage as well as the mediating role of innovation
between the strategistās cognitive perspective of reasoning and corporate competitive
advantage. This study conducted questionnaires of 382 samples in state-owned companies, FDI, and private companies in Vietnam. Structure equation modelling
was applied through smart PLS to analyse the valid data. The results provide
substantial evidence of significant relationships between strategistsā cognitive
perspectives of reasoning, innovation, and competitive advantage in the context of
State own, FDI, and private companies in Vietnam. Besides, the findings also show
that there are non-relationships in the direct effect between product innovation and
competitive advantage and between marketing innovation and competitive
advantage. Moreover, the research results imply various managerial implications
regarding how organizations successfully increase their competitive advantage by
increasing their leaderās cognition in management.Glavni cilj ove studije je istražiti odnos izmeÄu intuitivnog i analitiÄkog razmiÅ”ljanja
stratega, inovativnosti i konkurentske prednosti poduzeÄa. Ova studija ne samo da
predlaže novi model akademskom svijetu, veÄ takoÄer pruža empirijsko istraživanje
