    M-LEARNING APPLICATION IN TEACHING BADMINTON FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDENTS IN VIETNAM

    The article evaluates the efficacy of M-learning in instructing the Badminton course for K14 university students at the University of Sports and Physical Education in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Utilizing an experimental design, it contrasts the outcomes of two groups: the K13 students who were taught through conventional face-to-face methods and the K14 students who engaged in blended learning. Both groups were exposed to identical content and assessment procedures. The findings indicate that students in the blended learning approach outperformed their peers in the traditional setting. The study also delves into resource utilization and collects feedback from learners, underscoring the advantages of M-learning in Badminton instruction.  Article visualizations

    CeO2 based catalysts for the treatment of propylene in motorcycle's exhaust gases

    In this work, the catalytic activities of several single metallic oxides were studied for the treatment of propylene, a component in motorcycles' exhaust gases, under oxygen deficient conditions. Amongst them, CeO2 is one of the materials that exhibit the highest activity for the oxidation of C3H6. Therefore, several mixtures of CeO2 with other oxides (SnO2, ZrO2, Co3O4) were tested to investigate the changes in catalytic activity (both propylene conversion and CO2 selectivity). Ce0.9Zr0.1O2, Ce0.8Zr0.2O2 solid solutions and the mixtures of CeO2 and Co3O4 was shown to exhibit the highest propylene conversion and CO2 selectivity. They also exhibited good activities when tested under oxygen sufficient and excess conditions and with the presence of co-existing gases (CO, H2O)

    Rapid impact assessments of COVID-19 control measures against the Delta variant and short-term projections of new confirmed cases in Vietnam

    vital:17277As of 2020, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Vietnam was less than 1500, proving the success of COVID-19 control in Vietnam [1]. Vietnam has been recognized as one of the few countries that successfully controlled COVID-19 in 2020 [2]. Several recent articles have summarised a set of lessons learned, the so-called “Zero-new-case-approach”. These included (i) a rapid and coordinated public health response with a decentralized health care system [3]; (ii) massive quarantine and targeted lockdown; (iii) third-degree contact tracing; (iv) centralized patient management; (v) early school closures and robust border controls; (vi) mask policies and 5K message (5K refers to use face masks in public places, disinfect regularly, keep distance, stop gathering, and make health declaration); and (vii) innovative mass testing strategies in the resource-constraint system (sample pooling strategy of PCR test with 2-7 swaps) [4], These “Zero-newcase-approach” strategies all focused on the non-pharmaceutical aspect of disease control. They aimed to maintain zero community transmission by establishing a comprehensive public surveillance system and enacted drastic measures with the support of the police and military forces. © 2021 THE AUTHOR(S) JoGH 2021 ISoG

    A Bibliometric Analysis of Studies Concerning Policy Issues in Covid-19 Pandemic

    This research analysed the studies of policy on issues related to COVID-19. The results show the most productive countries, the most frequently cited sources, the most co-occurred topics of studies concerning policy issues since the epidemic was a breakout at the beginning. The data in this research were collected from the Scopus database with two search terms, "COVID-19" and "policy" of the social science domain, and published from the first day of 2020 to the search time (September 10, 2020). The final dataset consists of 384 valid documents analysed by descriptive statistics, and co-occurrence analysis was applied in R. Among 46 countries, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, China, India, and Italy are the leading countries that published these studies. Almost all the funded scholars focused on Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The main topics of the articles are "working in COVID-19 period", "community health and social support," "using ICT in teaching and learning," "human rights." Within funded studies, four interesting topics are "social well-being," "ICT infrastructure," "agricultural policy," and "born-digital." This study presents the current situation of how studies concerning policy issues have been issued to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic

    Post-mortem Reproduction from a Vietnamese Perspective—an Analysis and Commentary

    Post-mortem reproduction is a complex and contested matter attracting attention from a diverse group of scholars and resulting in various responses from a range of countries. Vietnam has been reluctant to deal directly with this matter and has, accordingly, permitted post-mortem reproduction implicitly. First, by analysing Vietnam’s post-mortem reproduction cases, this paper reflects on the manner in which Vietnamese authorities have handled each case in the context of the contemporary legal framework, and it reveals the moral questions arising therefrom. The article then offers an account of Vietnamese social norms as an explanation for the tendency to conduct post-mortem reproduction. In arguing that a deeper and more thorough examination of the moral and ethical reasoning is required, the paper advocates in favour of supportive post-mortem reproduction regulation. In doing so, the paper seeks to reconcile the Vietnamese legal framework and post-mortem reproduction experiences of other countries. The article concludes that Vietnam and countries sharing the similar cultural traits should permit post-mortem reproduction explicitly. This would require full engagement with the ethical and legal issues arising, and careful promulgation of regulations and guidelines based on comparative experiences of a range of countries in handling this matter

    Development of a Web-GIS based Decision Support System for earthquake warning service in Vietnam

    This paper describes the development of a Decision support system (DSS) for earthquake warning service in Vietnam using Web GIS technology. The system consists of two main components: (1) an on-line database of earthquakes recorded from the national seismic network of Vietnam, and (2) a set of tools for rapid seismic hazard assessment. Using an online earthquake database, the system allows creating a shake map caused by a newly recorded earthquake. In addition, the Web GIS environment allows any user, including non-professional to get useful information about a just-occurred event and the possible impact caused by the earthquake shortly after its occurrence. A fault-source model developed for Vietnam was used as a part of the hazard calculation and mapping procedure. All information and results obtained from the system are automatically included in the earthquake bulletins, which will be disseminated national wide afterward by the Vietnam earthquake information and tsunami warning Center.The shake maps produced by the DSS in terms of both Peak Ground Acceleration and intensity values are rapidly available via the Web and can be used for emergency response, public information, loss estimation, earthquake planning, and post-earthquake engineering and scientific analyses.     PROBABILISTIC SEISMIC HAZARD ASSESSMENT FOR THE TRANH RIVER HYDROPOWER PLANT NO2 SITE, QUANG NAM PROVINCE

    In this paper, the results of probabilistic seismic hazard assessment (PSHA) for the Tranh river hydropower plant No2 site, Quang Nam province, are presented. A regional earthquake catalog updated until 2014 and most recent data on active faulting in the area with a radial extent of 100 km from the HPP site were used. Applied modern techniques in the PSHA methodology including logic tree and hazard disaggregation allow to adopt different models of seismicity, seismic sources and ground motions for the study area. A set of the probabilistic seismic hazard maps showing distribution of the median peak ground acceleration (PGA) and intensity I (according to the MSK-64 scale) predicted for the periods of approximately 200, 500, 1000 and 10.000 years, respectively was compiled for the region. For the HPP site, the calculated hazard is presented in terms of the hazard curves and the seismic hazard disaggregation graphics at the site. For the 500 year period, maximum shaking in the area with a radial extent of 100 km from the HPP site reaches the level VIII-IX of the MSK-64 scale (in the Tam Ky-Phuoc Son fault zone). At the HPP site, the maximum PGA value ranges between 0.1g and 0.13 g (VII-VIII levels in the MSK-64 scale). The PGA maps present both short - term and long - term forecasts of seismic hazard in Quang Nam province. Calculated shakings at the HPP’s site can be used for seismic safety evaluation and antiseismic design for the HPP’s facilities during its operational time.
