Wavelet-Based Kernel Construction for Heart Disease Classification

© 2019 ADVANCES IN ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERINGHeart disease classification plays an important role in clinical diagnoses. The performance improvement of an Electrocardiogram classifier is therefore of great relevance, but it is a challenging task too. This paper proposes a novel classification algorithm using the kernel method. A kernel is constructed based on wavelet coefficients of heartbeat signals for a classifier with high performance. In particular, a wavelet packet decomposition algorithm is applied to heartbeat signals to obtain the Approximation and Detail coefficients, which are used to calculate the parameters of the kernel. A principal component analysis algorithm with the wavelet-based kernel is employed to choose the main features of the heartbeat signals for the input of the classifier. In addition, a neural network with three hidden layers in the classifier is utilized for classifying five types of heart disease. The electrocardiogram signals in nine patients obtained from the MIT-BIH database are used to test the proposed classifier. In order to evaluate the performance of the classifier, a multi-class confusion matrix is applied to produce the performance indexes, including the Accuracy, Recall, Precision, and F1 score. The experimental results show that the proposed method gives good results for the classification of the five mentioned types of heart disease.Peer reviewedFinal Published versio

THE WATER-DEMAND AND GAP-VOLUME OF AGGREGATE FOR FERROCEMENT

In designing concrete based on paste saturation we should know the water-demand of cement, aggregate and the Gap-volume of aggregate mixture. The water-demand assures the consistency of fresh concrete and the cement-setting. The paste saturated concrete can be designed if the Gap-volume of aggregate is known. The experimental results of the author in this investigation shows such analytical relationships from which the water-demand and the Gap-volume of aggregate can easily be determined for the case of the gradually and continuously graded aggregates with maximal particle size (D = 1:2:4 mm)

Land Reform and Farm Land Rental Market Operation in the Northern Uplands of Vietnam

This paper examines the factors affecting the participation of farm households in farm land rental markets with particular focus on the impact of the land reform. The operational outcomes of such market participation are also analysed. The study used a panel dataset of farm households surveyed before and after the land reform with Random Effect Tobit model. The analysis showed that the land reform have contributed to increased land rental participation. The operation of the market has both efficiency and equity outcomes. Therefore, constraints to functioning of land rental market are difficult to justify. In other words, farm land rental should be promoted to bring such desirable outcomes.land reform, land rental market participation, efficiency and equity in land use, northern uplands.
