Web-based Management and Assessment System for Postgraduate Research Symposium of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

    Get PDF
This research project is to develop a management system that computerizes the process of managing and assessing in educational organizations. It will be applied in the case of postgraduate research symposium in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). The society has evolved in a more modern and educational background, many countries has considered education as one of the most important factors in development. Due to the increasing number of students every year, the management and assessment processes have always been an administrative burden for academic staffs to collaborate and keep track of the student performance. The objective of this system is to become a centralized management and assessment portal for students, academic staffs, supervisors, and external examiners, which provides full control over the entire submission and evaluation processes. In the scope of UTP, the research symposium of postgraduate students is focused and the system is built on a web-based architecture which allows postgraduate students to submit their symposiums for their supervisors to evaluate and approve by digitalized assessment forms

Exploiting secure performance of full-duplex decode and forward in optimal relay selection networks

In the presence of an illegitimate user, we investigate the secrecy outage probability (SOP) of the optimal relay selection (ORS) networks by applying decode-and-forward (DnF) based full-duplex (FD) relaying mode. The closed-form expressions for the allocations of the end-to-end signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) in each wireless network are derived as well as the closed-form expression for the exact SOP of the proposed ORS system is presented under Rayleigh fading schemes. As an important achievement, SOP is also compared between orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) schemes. Our results reveal that the SOP of the suggested scheme can be considerably influenced by several parameters involved, including the number of relays, the average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of eavesdropper links, transmit power and the average residual self-interference (SI) enforced on the FD relays.Web of Science244767

On the density at infinity of definable functions

In this paper, we give a simple proof that the density at infinity of fibers of a definable function is locally Lipschitz outside the set of asymptotic critical values.Comment: 7 pages, comments are welcom

Half-duplex energy harvesting relay network over different fading environment: System performance with effect of hardware impairment

    Get PDF
In this paper, we introduce a half-duplex (HD) energy harvesting (EH) relay network over the different fading environment with the effect of hardware impairment (HI). The model system was investigated with the amplify-and-forward (AF) and the power splitting (PS) protocols. The system performance analysis in term of the outage probability (OP), achievable throughput (AT), and bit error rate (BER) were demonstrated with the closed-form expressions. In addition, the power splitting (PS) factor was investigated. We verified the analytical analysis by Monte Carlo simulation with all primary parameters. From the results, we can state that the analytical and simulation results match well with each other.Web of Science911art. no. Unsp 228

Questionnaire development for strategic english learning : processes and outcomes

    Get PDF
This paper reports on the four-stage construction of the English Language Learning Strategy Questionnaire (ELLSQ), employed in a research study on language learning strategies (LLSs) among Vietnamese tertiary students. Firstly, a needs analysis for the questionnaire development is provided. Secondly, various steps in the adaptation and initial development of the ELLSQ are described in detail, including the review of relevant literature, consultation with survey experts, and focus group discussions with target learners. Thirdly, the refinement of the ELLSQ is addressed through the conduction of informal expert reviews; and finally, its validation through field pre-tests is reported. The reliability and validity of the ELLSQ was undertaken through a pilot test with participation of 97 students, who were part of the target population of the formal study. The main purpose of this pilot test was to ensure the workability of the instrument and to establish reliability, face and content validity of the questionnaire. Practical implications for future attempts are embedded regarding the construction of reliable and valid questionnaires in a new research discourse
