    The Role and Characteristic of Love in 1 Corinthians 13

    In this paper, I discuss the role and characteristics of Love in 1 Corinthians 13. Before going into detailed treatment of this topic, I sought to clarify why Paul writes this letter, and the coherent unity of the letter. I also recognize that it is necessary to clarify the term ‘Love’ in the context of First Corinthians. It is equally important to discern the thematic weight and the position of chapter 13 in the context of the whole epistle. I utilize the structural criticism which considers the chapter in question as the central part of the ‘sandwiched’ construction between chapters 12 and 14. Chapter 12 outlines the principal importance of the various gifts: while chapter 14 articulates the phenomenon of tongues and the relationship to transmitting the Word into the world. In considering the central theme of the paper, I seek to explore the indispensable role of ‘Love’ among other essential Spiritual gifts; without Love, Faith and Hope and Good works are of empty significance. My inquiry into this topic led me to the inevitable analyzing and discussing the characteristics of Love. It is interesting to note that there is a structural, internal technique utilized by Paul. It can be deduced that he used a particular system of combining two positives, eight negatives, and then five more favorable terms to do justice to the concept of Love. In the final part of the exposition, I concentrate on expounding the eternal nature of Love and its surpassing quality compared to other gifts of the Spirit. After analyzing the role and nature of Love in the central section of my analysis, I mention the position of 1 Corinthians 13 in the Church’s current life, especially in Pope Francis’s teachings. Specifically, it is my purpose to shed light upon the concept of Love from a modern Christian literary/theological point of view. Ultimately, I was able to develop a basis of New Testament understanding and find important resonance within the primary theme and internal thought of 1 Cor. 13 and two recent Apostolic documents: Amoris Laetitia and Fratelli Tutti

    Bond-slip Behaviour of NSM GFRP Bars in Reinforced Recycled-Aggregate Concrete: Experiments and a Modified Model

    Bond-slip behaviour of glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars embedded in conventional concrete has been widely investigated. In contrast, the bond-slip behaviour of near-surface mounted (NSM) GFRP bars bonded in reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) seems to be less explored, while recycled materials have been increasingly used due to reasons of environmental pollution and resource exhaustion. This study aimed to experimentally and theoretically examine the bond-slip behaviour of NSM GFRP bars in reinforced RAC under monotonic and cyclic loadings. To achieve this aim, twenty-four tests were performed, which were divided into two groups by monotonic and cyclic loadings. In each group, twelve tests were performed on ten reinforced RAC specimens and two reinforced normal aggregate concrete (NAC) specimens. The test results confirmed the brittle shear failure of concrete in the proximity of a resin-concrete surface. Bond-slip behaviour can be characterized by nonlinear and linear branches, in which the linear branch dominates the behaviour. Under monotonic and cyclic loadings, the average slips of GFRP bars in reinforced RAC were 0.238 and 0.284 mm, and their coefficients of variation (COV) were relatively large at 0.142 and 0.130, respectively. In contrast, ultimate loads had a relatively low COV of around 0.038. The effect of cyclic loading significantly increased the ultimate slip by 19.3%, whereas it negligibly reduced the ultimate load; consequently, the stiffness was reduced by 19.4%. A modified smooth model was proposed to predict the bond-slip behaviour of NSM GFRP bars in reinforced RAC under monotonic and cyclic loadings.     A hierarchical architecture for increasing efficiency of large photovoltaic plants under non-homogeneous solar irradiation

    Under non-homogeneous solar irradiation, photovoltaic (PV) panels receive different solar irradiance, resulting in a decrease in efficiency of the PV generation system. There are a few technical options to fix this issue that goes under the name of mismatch. One of these is the reconfiguration of the PV generation system, namely changing the connections of the PV panels from the initial configuration to the optimal one. Such technique has been widely considered for small systems, due to the excessive number of required switches. In this paper, the authors propose a new method for increasing the efficiency of large PV systems under non-homogeneous solar irradiation using Series-Parallel (SP) topology. In the first part of the paper, the authors propose a method containing two key points: a switching matrix to change the connection of PV panels based on SP topology and the proof that the SP-based reconfiguration method can increase the efficiency of the photovoltaic system up to 50%. In the second part, the authors propose the extension of the method proposed in the first part to improve the efficiency of large solar generation systems by means of a two-levels architecture to minimize the cost of fabrication of the switching matrix

    Replay detection and multi-stream synchronization in CS:GO game streams using content-based Image retrieval and Image signature matching

    In GameStory: The 2019 Video Game Analytics Challenge, two main tasks are nominated to solve in the challenge, which are replay detection - multi-stream synchronization, and game story summarization. In this paper, we propose a data-driven based approach to solve the first task: replay detection - multi-stream synchronization. Our solution aims to determine the replays which lie between two logo-transitional endpoints and synchronize them with their sources by extracting frames from videos, then applying image processing and retrieval remedies. In detail, we use the Bag of Visual Words approach to detect the logo-transitional endpoints, which contains multiple replays in between, then employ an Image Signature Matching algorithm for multi-stream synchronization and replay boundaries refinement. The best configuration of our proposed solution manages to achieve the second-highest scores in all evaluation metrics of the challenge

    Chemical constituents from the leaves of Styrax argentifolius H.L. Li and their antioxidative activity

    Searching for bioactive agents from medicinal plants, the phytochemical investigation on the EtOAc extract of the Vietnamese Styrax argentifolius leaves has resulted in the isolation and structural determination of five compounds, including one nor-neolignan egonoic acid (1), one lignan (+)-pinoresinol (2), one sterol (20R)-3β-hydroxysitgmasta-5,22-dien-7-one (3), and two triterpenoids lupeol (4), and 2α,3α,24-trihydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid (5). The chemical structures of these secondary metabolites were elucidated by NMR and MS spectral data. All isolated compounds were first observed in S. argentifolius species. Sterol 3 and triterpenoid 5 were detected in genus Styrax for the first time. With the IC50 value of 19.10 µg/mL, compound 2 possessed the strong activity in DPPH radical scavenging assay
