AstroFit: An Interface Program for Exploring Complementarity in Dark Matter Research

AstroFit is an interface adding astrophysical components to programs for fitting physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) to experimental data from collider searches. The project aims at combining a wide range of experimental results from indirect, direct and collider serarches for Dark Matter (DM) and confronting it with theoretical expectations in various DM models. Integral means spectrum of whole-plane SLE

We complete the mathematical analysis of the fine structure of harmonic measure on SLE curves that was initiated by Beliaev and Smirnov, as described by the averaged integral means spectrum. For the unbounded version of whole-plane SLE as studied by Duplantier, Nguyen, Nguyen and Zinsmeister, and Loutsenko and Yermolayeva, a phase transition has been shown to occur for high enough moments from the bulk spectrum towards a novel spectrum related to the point at infinity. For the bounded version of whole-plane SLE studied here, a similar transition phenomenon, now associated with the SLE origin, is proved to exist for low enough moments, but we show that it is superseded by the earlier occurrence of the transition to the SLE tip spectrum.Comment: 14 pages, 1 figure; final versio

The Goodman-Nguyen Relation within Imprecise Probability Theory

The Goodman-Nguyen relation is a partial order generalising the implication (inclusion) relation to conditional events. As such, with precise probabilities it both induces an agreeing probability ordering and is a key tool in a certain common extension problem. Most previous work involving this relation is concerned with either conditional event algebras or precise probabilities. We investigate here its role within imprecise probability theory, first in the framework of conditional events and then proposing a generalisation of the Goodman-Nguyen relation to conditional gambles. It turns out that this relation induces an agreeing ordering on coherent or C-convex conditional imprecise previsions. In a standard inferential problem with conditional events, it lets us determine the natural extension, as well as an upper extension. Teaching Ways and Learning Ways Revisited

In learning and teaching of languages, numerous theories have been put forward. These theories, normally influenced by developments in the fields of linguistics and psychology, have inspired several approaches to the teaching of second and foreign languages. This paper revisits English language teaching approaches, both traditional and modern, as well as learning styles and teaching styles. Such learning style models as The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI); Kolb’s Experiential Learning Model; the Felder-Silverman Learning Styles Model are explored in-depth in this paper.
