    Sustaining Vietnamese Economic Development by Improving the Transparency of Choice of Law Decisions

    Without a doubt, Vietnam has enjoyed outstanding economic performance since the adoption of doi moi in 1986. To a significant extent, Vietnam has accomplished this through the dramatic increase in international trade and investment. However, further economic progress will be undermined if international partners begin to question the fairness of the Vietnamese legal system – especially in the application of choice of law principles. At best, a perceived lack of transparency in choice of law decisions will increase uncertainty; at worst, it will foster the impression that Vietnamese Courts do not treat international parties fairly. Accordingly, this article recommends that all Vietnamese civil court cases involving non-Vietnamese parties should be published in a public, easily searchable database that discloses the traditional case identification information, the law applied, and the underlying rationale for the ultimate choice of law selection in the case

    On asymptotic periodic solutions of fractional differential equations and applications

    In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions of fractional differential equations of the form DCαu(t)=Au(t)+f(t),u(0)=x,0<α1,() D^{\alpha}_Cu(t)=Au(t)+f(t), u(0)=x, 0<\alpha\le1, ( *) where DCαu(t)D^{\alpha}_Cu(t) is the derivative of the function uu in the Caputo's sense, AA is a linear operator in a Banach space \X that may be unbounded and ff satisfies the property that limt(f(t+1)f(t))=0\lim_{t\to \infty} (f(t+1)-f(t))=0 which we will call asymptotic 11-periodicity. By using the spectral theory of functions on the half line we derive analogs of Katznelson-Tzafriri and Massera Theorems. Namely, we give sufficient conditions in terms of spectral properties of the operator AA for all asymptotic mild solutions of Eq.     Deep Learning-Based Signal Detection for Dual-Mode Index Modulation 3D-OFDM

    In this paper, we propose a deep learning-based signal detector called DuaIM-3DNet for dual-mode index modulation-based three-dimensional (3D) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DM-IM-3D-OFDM). Herein, DM-IM-3D- OFDM is a subcarrier index modulation scheme which conveys data bits via both dual-mode 3D constellation symbols and indices of active subcarriers. Thus, this scheme obtains better error performance than the existing IM schemes when using the conventional maximum likelihood (ML) detector, which, however, suffers from high computational complexity, especially when the system parameters increase. In order to address this fundamental issue, we propose the usage of a deep neural network (DNN) at the receiver to jointly and reliably detect both symbols and index bits of DM-IM-3D-OFDM under Rayleigh fading channels in a data-driven manner. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed DNN detector achieves near-optimal performance at significantly lower runtime complexity compared to the ML detector

    Removal of Power Line Interference from Electrocardiograph (ECG) using Proposed Adaptive Filter Algorithm

    ECG signals in measurements are contaminated by noises including power line interference. In recent years, adaptive filters with different approaches have been investigated to remove power line interference in ECG.In this paper, an adaptive filter is proposed to cancel power line interference in ECG signals. The proposed algorithm is experimented with MIT-BIH ECG signals data base. The algorithm2019;s results are compared with the results of other adaptive filter algorithms using Least Mean Square (LMS), Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) by Signal to Noise (SNR). Theses works are performed by LabVIEW software

    Hydrophyte communities in the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon

    The Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon in Thua Thien-Hue province is the largest lagoon in South East Asia and also one of the places having the largest area of seagrass in Vietnam. The study results from 2009 to 2017 showed that 6 seagrasses species were identified (Halodule uninervis is a newly recorded species, however, Halophila minor is not recorded) and there were 8 freshwater grass species (with the exception of Potamogeton maackianus), with a total area of 2,840 ha. In particular, the area of seagrass has been recovering significantly from 1,000 hectares in 2009 to 2,037 hectares in 2017

    Properties of Concrete Containing Rubber Aggregate Derived From Discarded Tires

    This study carried out the experiment to evaluate the effects of different contents and sizes of rubber particles derived from discarded tires used for replacing fine and coarse natural aggregates, on the workability of fresh rubberized concrete and the compressive and flexural strengths of hardened rubberized concrete. The study results showed that the workability of fresh rubberized concrete was improved when replacing natural fine aggregate (sand) with fine rubber particles (2.5-5 mm) at the replacing proportions of 30-50% by volume, and when replacing natural coarse aggregate (crushed stone) with coarse rubber particles (5-20 mm) at the replacing proportions of 10-30% by volume. With respect to the mechanical properties of hardened rubberized concrete, a larger reduction in the compressive and flexural strengths was generally found when the replacing proportions increased and when coarse aggregate rather than fine aggregate was replaced by rubber particles at all replacing proportions (10-50%). However, the study results also indicated that using fine rubber particles for replacing fine natural aggregate at the low replacing proportion (up to 10%) might not cause the significant effect on the compressive and flexural strength of rubberized concrete

    In this paper, by using the spectral theory of functions and properties of evolution semigroups, we establish conditions on the existence, and uniqueness of asymptotic 1-periodic solutions to a class of abstract differential equations with infinite delay of the form \begin{equation*} \frac{d u(t)}{d t}=A u(t)+L(u_t)+f(t) \end{equation*} where AA is the generator of a strongly continuous semigroup of linear operators, LL is a bounded linear operator from a phase space B\mathscr{B} to a Banach space XX, utu_t is an element of B\mathscr{B} which is defined as ut(θ)=u(t+θ)u_t(\theta)=u(t+\theta) for θ0\theta \leq 0 and ff is asymptotic 1-periodic in the sense that limt(f(t+1)\lim\limits_{t \rightarrow \infty}(f(t+1)- f(t))=0f(t))=0. A Lotka-Volterra model with diffusion and infinite delay is considered to illustrate our results.Comment: 13 page
