    A Reliable and Efficient Wireless Sensor Network System for Water Quality Monitoring

    Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are strongly useful to monitor physical and environmental conditions to provide realtime information for improving environment quality. However, deploying a WSN in a physical environment faces several critical challenges such as high energy consumption, and data loss.In this work, we have proposed a reliable and efficient environmental monitoring system in ponds using wireless sensor network and cellular communication technologies. We have designed a hardware and software ecosystem that can limit the data loss yet save the energy consumption of nodes. A lightweight protocol acknowledges data transmission among the nodes. Data are transmitted to the cloud using a cellular protocol to reduce power consumption. Information in the cloud is mining so that realtime warning notifications can be sent to users. If the values are reaching the threshold, the server will send an alarm signal to the pond\u27s owner phone, enable him to take corrective actions in a timely manner. Besides, the client application system also provides the feature to help the user to manage the trend of a physical environment such as shrimp ponds by viewing charts of the collected data by hours, days, months. We have deployed our system using IEEE 802.15.4 Standard, ZigBEE, KIT CC2530 of Texas Instrument, and tested our system with temperature and pH level sensors. Our experimental results demonstrated that the proposed system have a low rate of data loss and long energy life with low cost while it can provide real-time data for water quality monitoring

    STUDENTS’ ERRORS IN SOLVING MATHEMATICAL WORD PROBLEMS AND THEIR ABILITY IN IDENTIFYING ERRORS IN WRONG SOLUTIONS

    Solving mathematical word problems is a difficult, complex and intellectual activity. The formation of problem solving skills is much more difficult than calculation skills because the problems are related to many concepts and a lot of mathematical relationships. Therefore, students are inevitable to commit errors to deal with them. This study shows the errors of 160 3rd grade students regarding some kinds of word problems in Mathematics 3 in Vietnam. The results indicate that children commit many errors due to many different reasons such as: subjectivity, carelessness, wrong application of the calculation rules, incorrect identification of problem kinds and wrong calculation.  Article visualizations

    Context-driven Policies Enforcement for Edge-based IoT Data Sharing-as-a-Service

    Sharing real-time data originating from connected devices is crucial to real-world intelligent Internet of Things (IoT) applications, i.e., based on artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML). Such IoT data sharing involves multiple parties for different purposes and is usually based on data contracts that might depend on the dynamic change of IoT data variety and velocity. It is still an open challenge to support multiple parties (aka tenants) with these dynamic contracts based on the data value for their specific contextual purposes.This work addresses these challenges by introducing a novel dynamic context-based policy enforcement framework to support IoT data sharing (on-Edge) based on dynamic contracts. Our enforcement framework allows IoT Data Hub owners to define extensible rules and metrics to govern the tenants in accessing the shared data on the Edge based on policies defined with static and dynamic contexts. We have developed a proof-of-concept prototype for sharing sensitive data such as surveillance camera videos to illustrate our proposed framework. The experimental results demonstrated that our framework could soundly and timely enforce context-based policies at runtime with moderate overhead.     Red-emitting Ba2Si5N8Eu2+ conversion phosphor: A new selection for enhancing the optical performance of the in-cup packaging MCW-LEDs

    In this research, the influence of the red-emitting Ba2Si5N8Eu2+ convention phosphor on the optical performance of the 7,000K and 7,700K in-cup packaging multi-chip white LEDs (MCW-LEDs) is investigated. The effect of the red-emitting Ba2Si5N8Eu2+ convention phosphor is demonstrated based on Mie Theory by Mat Lab and Light Tools software. The research results indicated that the optical performance of MCW-LEDs was crucially affected by the red-emitting Ba2Si5N8Eu2+ phosphor's concentration. This paper provides an essential recommendation for selecting and developing the phosphor materials for MW-LEDs manufacturing.Web of Science51art. no. 148615

    The Effectiveness of Applying Realistic Mathematics Education Approach in Teaching Statistics in Grade 7 to Students' Mathematical Skills

    The research was carried out to verify the effectiveness of applying Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) on the development of skills required by students in statistical content in grade 7. For achieving research objectives, the pedagogical experiment was conducted in the form of intrinsic legalization for forty-eight 7th-grade students at Tang Phu Nhan B Junior School, District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Accordingly, data on pre-test results, study sheets, post-test, and student learning performance were collected and analyzed qualitatively. The results were assessed based on the criteria corresponding to the required skills for the statistical content, including the criteria for data collection, classification, and representation according to the given criteria for the skill, data collection, and organization capabilities; simple problem formation and problem-solving criteria arise from the existing statistical figures and charts for data analysis and processing skills. The primary mathematical statistics method was used to evaluate the achievement level of students for each criterion. Thereby, the experimental results showed that applying the RME approach in teaching statistical content positively impacted the development of some skills that students needed to achieve. Also, a number of guidelines were provided to guide the enhancement of RME activities

    FACTORS AFFECTING THE ACADEMIC RESULTS OF MASTER STUDENTS IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY, VIETNAM: A SURVEY STUDY

    The study results were based on the survey data of 24 students  studying the master program in math education at Can Tho University, Vietnam. We used the questionnaire to find out the factors affecting students' learning outcomes: Learning time, learning conditions, learning environment, personal level, learning methods, collaborative learning, learning attitudes. The results show factors such as learning conditions, learning environment, time for leaning, qualifications, teaching methods, learning methods, cooperation in learning, attitude in learning are factors that significantly affect the learning of master students in Mathematics education. Therefore, universities with high-level training programs should have adequate facilities for students' learning; lecturers know how to use teaching methods to promote self-study and self-study for students, improve their ability to work independently, the ability to cooperate in the learning and research process of students. In other words, universities must uphold  their responsibilities when implementing intensive training programs, helping learners with necessary competencies as expected of the community and society.  Article visualizations

    Enhancement of color rendering index for white light LED lamps by red Y2O3:EU3+ phosphor

    We present an application of the red Y2O3:Eu3+ dopant phosphor compound for reaching the color rendering index as high as 86. The Multi-Chip White LED lamps (MCW-LEDs) with high Correlated Color Temperatures (CCTs) including 7000 K and 8500 K are employed in this study. Besides, the impacts of the Y2O3:Eu3+ phosphor on the attenuation of light through phosphor layers of the various packages is also demonstrated based on the Beer-Lambert law. Simulation results provide important conclusion for selecting and developing the phosphor materials in MCW-LEDs manufacturing

    Acetate wheat starch improving blood glucose response and bilan lipid on obesity dyslipidemia mice

    Resistant starch is particularly concerned with beneficial effects in regulating blood glucose concentration and lipid metabolism, reducing the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to validate the effects of wheat starch acetate containing 32.1% resistant starch on postprandial blood glucose response and lipid profile on obesity, dyslipidemia Swiss mice induced by a high-fat diet. The result showed that there was a restriction on postprandial hyperglycemia and remained stable for 2 hours after meal efficiently comparing with the control group fed natural wheat starch. Simultaneously, when maintaining the dose of 5g/kg once or twice a day for 8 weeks, wheat starch acetate to be able to reduce body weight and blood glucose, triglyceride, cholesterol levels compared to the control group (p<0.05)

    A SURVEY OF STUDENTS’ ABILITY OF IDENTIFYING ERRORS IN WRONG SOLUTIONS FOR THE MATHEMATICAL PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE MONOTONICITY OF FUNCTIONS

    The monotonicity of a function plays an important role in the general mathematics curriculum in Vietnam, because it is considered as an effective tool for solving mathematical problems involved with the monotonic intervals of functions, their extreme, absolute maximum value and absolute minimum value. Normally, students commit errors in solving these problems because of their complexity and difficulty. In addition, specific characteristics of knowledge also make children make mistakes. The sample consisted of 362 students, and they had the task of identifying errors in false assumptions. From the results of the survey, it was found that when dealing with the monotonicity of the functions, students were still misled.  Article visualizations

    STUDENTS’ OPINIONS ON VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE: A CASE STUDY

    The problem of employment is always a crucial problem and is the concern of most parents and school students. The survey on the perception of 40 students about vocational guidance was carried out in Nguyen Viet Dung High School in Can Tho City, Vietnam.
