    Organic Fertilizer Production and Application in Vietnam

    Crop production is an important subsector of Vietnam’s agriculture, has an impressive achievement in last 30 years and based on the intensive production with increasing use of chemical fertilizer and pesticide. Consequences are the negative effects on environment and human health and food safety. Organic agriculture has become a trend worldwide and is developing rapidly in the world. In Vietnam the certified organic farming area has expanded since 2012. Organic market revenue in Vietnam is estimated to be at $132.15 million a year. Most Vietnamese certified organic products are exported to international markets. Organic agriculture using organic fertilizer is one of Vietnam government’s priorities. Vietnam already produced organic fertilizer from different materials by using different production technologies, but the production capacity is small and does not meet the demand for organic agriculture. Vietnam government encourages, promotes the organic fertilizer production, application and has the policy to develop the organic fertilizer in Vietnam

    User Selection Approaches to Mitigate the Straggler Effect for Federated Learning on Cell-Free Massive MIMO Networks

    This work proposes UE selection approaches to mitigate the straggler effect for federated learning (FL) on cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output networks. To show how these approaches work, we consider a general FL framework with UE sampling, and aim to minimize the FL training time in this framework. Here, training updates are (S1) broadcast to all the selected UEs from a central server, (S2) computed at the UEs sampled from the selected UE set, and (S3) sent back to the central server. The first approach mitigates the straggler effect in both Steps (S1) and (S3), while the second approach only Step (S3). Two optimization problems are then formulated to jointly optimize UE selection, transmit power and data rate. These mixed-integer mixed-timescale stochastic nonconvex problems capture the complex interactions among the training time, the straggler effect, and UE selection. By employing the online successive convex approximation approach, we develop a novel algorithm to solve the formulated problems with proven convergence to the neighbourhood of their stationary points. Numerical results confirm that our UE selection designs significantly reduce the training time over baseline approaches, especially in the networks that experience serious straggler effects due to the moderately low density of access points.Comment: submitted for peer review

    Spectral and Energy Efficiency Maximization for Content-Centric C-RANs with Edge Caching

    This paper aims to maximize the spectral and energy efficiencies of a content-centric cloud radio access network (C-RAN), where users requesting the same contents are grouped together. Data are transferred from a central baseband unit to multiple remote radio heads (RRHs) equipped with local caches. The RRHs then send the received data to each group's user. Both multicast and unicast schemes are considered for data transmission. We formulate mixed-integer nonlinear problems in which user association, RRH activation, data rate allocation, and signal precoding are jointly designed. These challenging problems are subject to minimum data rate requirements, limited fronthaul capacity, and maximum RRH transmit power. Employing successive convex quadratic programming, we propose iterative algorithms with guaranteed convergence to Fritz John solutions. Numerical results confirm that the proposed joint designs markedly improve the spectral and energy efficiencies of the considered content-centric C-RAN compared to benchmark schemes. Importantly, they show that unicasting outperforms multicasting in terms of spectral efficiency in both cache and cache-less scenarios. In terms of energy efficiency, multicasting is the best choice for the system without cache whereas unicasting is best for the system with cache.     Energy-Efficient Design for Downlink Cloud Radio Access Networks

    This work aims to maximize the energy efficiency of a downlink cloud radio access network (C-RAN), where data is transferred from a baseband unit in the core network to several remote radio heads via a set of edge routers over capacity-limited fronthaul links. The remote radio heads then send the received signals to their users via radio access links. We formulate a new mixed-integer nonlinear problem in which the ratio of network throughput and total power consumption is maximized. This challenging problem formulation includes practical constraints on routing, predefined minimum data rates, fronthaul capacity and maximum RRH transmit power. By employing the successive convex quadratic programming framework, an iterative algorithm is proposed with guaranteed convergence to a Fritz John solution of the formulated problem. Significantly, each iteration of the proposed algorithm solves only one simple convex program.     EFFECTS OF SUBSTITUENTS ON CH BOND DISSOCIATION ENTHALPIES OF ENT-KAURANE DITERPENOIDS: A DFT STUDY

    C-H bond dissociation enthalpies (BDEs) of seven ent-kaurane diterpenoids extracted from Croton tonkinensis Gagnep. have been investigated by using density functional theory (DFT) method. The calculations were performed at the M05-2X/6-31+G(d) level of theory. Additionally, insight into the effects of different substituents including –NH2, –OH, –NO2, –SH, –CN, –Cl, –CONH2, –CH-(CH3)2, –NHCOCH3, –OCOCH3 and –C2H5 on BDE have also been provided. The results showed that the BDE value of ent-16(S)-18-acetoxy-7b-hydroxykaur-15-one compound is lowest, being 83.5 kcal/mol. Among substituents binding at C16 position of this molecule, –NH2 has the most remarkable influence on the BDE (C-H) value. Indeed, the BDE of C16-H significantly decreases from 83.5 to 68.4 kcal/mol when replacing –CH3 group by –NH2 one at the C16 position. The obtained results may provide more information for organic synthesis of ent-kaurane based – novel antioxidant compounds

There are many myths on this subject that, without being informed, can lead to false misconceptions on the subject. Through an informative video, important facts will be discussed and covered while myths are corrected. This includes problems that occur when trying to achieve pregnancy and health risks that may affect fertility in both males and females. Tips and information about what happens at a urologist and gynecologist appointment will be included to make the idea of scheduling a fertility appointment seem less foreign. Topics that may happen during an appointment will also be listed such as positive and negative impacts on sperm, or ovum, and how the age of the parents can affect the fetus’ health. Patient rights will also be enlightened, as well as the importance of receiving proper medical attention. Overall, the main goal of the project is to encourage and stress the importance of being open with your partner about any STD’s (sexually transmitted diseases) or fertility problems before or while trying for a baby.     Si11Mn0/+ cluster is endohedral or exohedral: a proof by DFT calculation

    The geometries of Si11, Si11Mn+ and Si11Mn0 clusters have been determined by the method of density functional theory using B3P86/6-311+G(d) level of theory. The pure silicon clusters Si11have cage structure associating with a low spin state.Although the geometrical structure of the most stable isomer of Si11Mn+ cationic cluster is exohedral, the endohedral isomers have their calculated IR spectra fitting well with the experimental IRMPD spectra. The Si11Mn0 neutral cluster is found to be most stable in both exohedral and endohedral forms. The most stable isomers of manganese-doped silicon clusters Si11Mn0/+ possess high spin states and local magnetic moment of the Mn atom is reduced or even completely quenched when it is encapsulated inside the Si11 cage.     Streptococcus suis, an Important Cause of Adult Bacterial Meningitis in Northern Vietnam

    Streptococcus suis can cause severe systemic infection in adults exposed to infected pigs or after consumption of undercooked pig products. S. suis is often misdiagnosed, due to lack of awareness and improper testing. Here we report the first fifty cases diagnosed with S. suis infection in northern Viet Nam.In 2007, diagnostics for S. suis were set up at a national hospital in Hanoi. That year there were 43 S. suis positive cerebrospinal fluid samples, of which S. suis could be cultured in 32 cases and 11 cases were only positive by PCR. Seven patients were blood culture positive for S. suis but CSF culture and PCR negative; making a total of 50 patients with laboratory confirmed S. suis infection in 2007. The number of S. suis cases peaked during the warmer months.S. suis was commonly diagnosed as a cause of bacterial meningitis in adults in northern Viet Nam.
