Neural networks for modelling and control of a non-linear dynamic system

The authors describe the use of neural nets to model and control a nonlinear second-order electromechanical model of a drive system with varying time constants and saturation effects. A model predictive control structure is used. This is compared with a proportional-integral (PI) controller with regard to performance and robustness against disturbances. Two feedforward network types, the multilayer perceptron and radial-basis-function nets, are used to model the system. Strategien zur Förderung des lebenslangen Lernens in Bund und Ländern. Ergebnisse eines studentischen Forschungsprojektes an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

Dieser thematische Bericht präsentiert die Ergebnisse der Arbeit eines studentischen Forschungsprojekts. Im Rahmen dieses Projekts wurden umfangreiche Dokumentenbestände von Landesparlamenten und Landesregierungen im Zeitraum von 2008 bis 2013 inhaltsanalytisch ausgewertet, um Maßnahmen und Initiativen zu ermitteln, die in den Bundesländern zur Förderung des Lebenslangen Lernens an Hochschulen entwickelt wurden. Dabei konnte gezeigt werden, dass sich zwar die konkreten Aktivitäten der einzelnen Bundesländer zur Förderung des Lebenslangen Lernens deutlich voneinander unterscheiden, gleichzeitig aber weitgehend gemeinsame strategische Ziele verfolgt werden, wie beispielsweise die Förderung der Chancengleichheit und die Erhöhung der Durchlässigkeit zwischen beruflicher und akademischer Bildung. Insbesondere die Maßnahmen zur Erreichung dieser Ziele wurden mit unterschiedlicher Reichweite und Intensität verfolgt. A Transformation Based on the Equality between Terms

We present a new transformation of Prolog programs preserving operational equivalence. Our transformation --- EBC (equality based continuation) transformation --- relies on the introduction of equations between terms. These equations are used to introduce alternative and more e#- cient representations of terms. When applied to binary Prolog programs, EBC is able to perform the following optimizations by mere source to source transformations: removal of existential variables in programs using di#erence lists and accumulators, reduction of the number of occurchecks, interprocedural register allocation when executed on the WAM, linearization of recursions, optimization of continuation-like user data structures
