The Importance of Scholarship to Law School Excellence

    Get PDF
As we have learned from Dan Coquillette, Bob Kaczorowski, and John Sexton, access to substantial funding is undoubtedly a prerequisite for a law school to enjoy excellence. Funding, that is, is a necessary, but not sufficient condition for excellence. Something else—intellectual vision—is also required

Consequences of Low Energy Dynamical Supersymmetry Breaking

    Get PDF
Relatively simple models can be constructed in which supersymmetry is dynamically broken at energies of 10510710^5-10^7 GeV. Models of this kind do not suffer from the naturalness and cosmological difficulties of conventional supergravity models, and make definite predictions for the spectrum of supersymmetric particle masses. Thus ``Renormalizable Visible Sector Models'' are a viable alternative to more conventional approaches. This talk mostly summarizes the results of a recent paper written with Michael Dine and Yuri Shirman.Comment: PlainTex, 3 pages, Parallel Session Talk presented at Conference ``Beyond the Standard Model IV'', Lake Tahoe, CA, Dec 199

Stress corrosion cracking evaluation of precipitation-hardening stainless steel

Accelerated test program results show which precipitation hardening stainless steels are resistant to stress corrosion cracking. In certain cases stress corrosion susceptibility was found to be associated with the process procedure

The generalized Fenyes-Nelson model for free scalar field theory

    Get PDF
The generalized Fenyes--Nelson model of quantum mechanics is applied to the free scalar field. The resulting Markov field is equivalent to the Euclidean Markov field with the times scaled by a common factor which depends on the diffusion parameter. This result is consistent between Guerra's earlier work on stochastic quantization of scalar fields. It suggests a deep connection between Euclidean field theory and the stochastic interpretation of quantum mechanics. The question of Lorentz covariance is also discussed.Comment: 6 page
