Revisiting readability of management information systems journals

Academicians and practitioners in the Information Systems (IS) use the IS publications to acquire information about the latest developments in the field. Some publications are harder to understand than others and may not be effective if the reader is not capable of fully comprehending the contents. Therefore, of great consequence is the readability of journals in the field. Análisis de equipos de pruebas ópticos automatizados

The present projects aims to characterise the performance of an optical test equipment system. The existing system consists of a c-band tuneable laser and an optical spectrum analyser, which are automated by a computer through LabVIEW software. The test system is analysed in terms of accuracy and precision and a dynamic calibration is explored to improve the performance of the system. Specifications are discussed and recommendations are made on how to improve the device test procedure with the available equipment. Finally several optical devices manufactured in the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre are tested within the analysed system. The stopband and its variability according to different injected currents are characterised in terms of reflectivity, where finally the calibration is applied to achieve more precise results. El sistema existente se compone de un láser sintonizable de banda C y un analizador de espectro óptico, que están automatizadas por un ordenador a través del software LabVIEW. El sistema de ensayo se analiza en términos de exactitud y precisión y se explora una calibración dinámica para mejorar el rendimiento del sistema. Se discuten las especificaciones y se hacen recomendaciones sobre cómo mejorar el procedimiento de prueba de dispositivos con el equipo disponible. Finalmente varios dispositivos ópticos fabricados en el James Watt Nanofabrication Centre se prueban dentro del sistema analizado. La banda de rechazo y su variabilidad de acuerdo a diferentes corrientes inyectadas se caracterizan en términos de reflectividad, donde finalmente se aplica la calibración para obtener resultados más precisos. UCTx: a multi-agent system to assist a transplant coordination unit

We present a system called UCTx, designed to model and automate some of the tasks performed by a Transplant Coordination Unit (UCTx) inside a Hospital. The aim of this work is to show how a multi-agent approach allows us to describe and implement the model, and how UCTx is capable of dealing with another multi-agent (Carrel, an Agent Mediated Institution for the exchange of Human Tissues among Hospitals for Transplantation) in order to meet its own goals, acting as the representative of the hospital in the negotiation. Extending the Carrel system to mediate in the organ and tissue allocation processes: a first approach

In this paper we extend the formalization of Carrel, a virtual organization for the procurement of tissues for transplantation purposes, in order to model also the procurement of human organs for transplants. We will focus in the organ allocation process to show how it can be formalized with the ISLANDER formalism. El metamorfismo del sector El Vellon-Pedrezuela (Sistema Central Español)

El presente trabajo aborda el estudio metamorfico del sector «El Vellon - Pedrezuela». Mediante la determinación de los diferentes tipos de paragenesis minerales que contienen los materiales que afloran en este sector (metapelitas. metasamitas. anfibolitas y rocas calcosiiicatadas). de sus relaciones interminerales y de sus penodos de blastesis. se establece un metamorfismo regional progresivo de grado medio. Dicho metamorfismo se caracteriza por unas condiciones de 5.25 Kbar y 550 UC para un periodo de interfase yariando estas durante la segunda fase a 4 4 0.5 Kbar y 600 JC. Ei gradiente metamorfico aumenta di: 26 oC/Km. a 380 4 5 oC/Km desde el periodo de interfase a la segunda fase hercinica
