Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester Loaded PEG–PLGA Nanoparticles Enhance Wound Healing in Diabetic Rats
Delayed wound healing is a serious complication of diabetes and a main reason for foot amputation. Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) is a main active constituent of honeybee propolis with reported appealing pharmacological activities. In the current study, CAPE was loaded onto PEG–PLGA nanoparticles and showed a particle size of 198 ± 7.3 nm and polydispersity index of 0.43 ± 0.04. An in vivo study was performed to appraise the wound-healing activity of CAPE-loaded PEG–PLGA nanoparticles (CAPE-NPs) in diabetic rats. Wound closure was significantly accelerated in rats treated with CAPE-NPs. This was confirmed via histological examinations of skin tissues that indicated expedited healing and enhanced collagen deposition. This was accompanied by observed antioxidant activity as evidenced by the prevention of lipid peroxidation and the exhaustion of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities. In addition, CAPE-NPs showed superior anti-inflammatory activity as compared with the regular formula of CAPE, as they prevented the expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6) as well as tumor necrosis-alpha (TNF-α). The pro-collagen actions of CAPE-NPs were highlighted by the enhanced hyroxyproline content and up-regulation of Col 1A1 mRNA expression. Furthermore, the immunohistochemial assessment of skin tissues indicated that CAPE-NPs enhance proliferation and angiogenesis, as shown by the increased expression of transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) and platelet-derived growth factor subunit B (PDGF-B). In conclusion, CAPE-loaded PEG–PLGA nanoparticles possess potent healing effects in diabetic wounds. This is mediated, at least partially, by its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and pro-collagen as well as angiogenic activities
Neutrosophic D’Agostino Test of Normality: An Application to Water Data
The D’Agostino test has been widely applied for testing the normality of the data. The existing D’Agostino test cannot be applied when the data have some indeterminate observations or observations which are obtained from the complex systems. In this paper, we present a D’Agostino test under neutrosophic statistics. We propose the D’Agostino test to test the normality of the data having indeterminate observations. The design of the proposed test is given and implemented with the help of real data. From the comparison, it is concluded that the proposed test is effective, adequate, and suitable to be applied in the presence of indeterminacy
Control Chart for Failure-Censored Reliability Tests under Uncertainty Environment
Existing control charts based on failure-censored (Type-II) reliability tests were designed using classical statistics. Classical statistics was applied for the monitoring of the process when observations in the sample or the population were determined. Neutrosophic statistics (NS) are applied when there is uncertainty in the sample or population. In this paper, a control chart for failure-censored (Type-II) reliability tests was designed using NS. The design of a control chart for the Weibull distribution, which is applied when there is a lack of symmetry using neutrosophic statistics, is given. The proposed control chart was used to monitor the neutrosophic mean and neutrosophic variance, which are related to the neutrosophic scale parameter. The advantages of the proposed control chart over the existing control chart are discussed
Shewhart Attribute and Variable Control Charts Using Modified Multiple Dependent State Sampling
In this article, modified multiple dependent (or deferred) state sampling control charts for the attribute and the variable quality characteristics are presented. The proposed control charts are designed using the symmetry property of the normal distribution. The control chart coefficients are estimated through simulation at different levels of the parameters using the normal distribution. The proposed control chart scheme is evaluated by calculating the in-control average run lengths and out-of-control average run lengths. Tables are constructed for the selection of parameters for different control limit coefficients under several shift levels for the attribute data as well as the variable data. Examples are included for the practical application of the proposed control chart schemes. The proposed control chart scheme is also compared with the existing control charts. It has been observed that the proposed schemes are better in quick detection of the out-of-control processes
The W/S Test for Data Having Neutrosophic Numbers: An Application to USA Village Population
The W/S test under neutrosophic statistics is proposed in this paper. The Monte Carlo simulation under the neutrosophic statistical interval method is proposed and applied to study the sensitivity of various neutrosophic statistical distributions. The power of test curves for neutrosophic distributions is presented. The efficiency of the proposed W/S test under neutrosophic statistics is compared with that of the W/S test under classical statistics. The proposed test is explained with the aid of an example
