Children’s subjective well‑being, peer relationships and resilience : an integrative literature review

This study presents an integrative review of the scientifc literature on children’s subjective well-being (SWB) and its association with peer relationships and resilience. Articles addressing children’s SWB published in English and Portuguese from 2014 to 2020 were investigated. The data bases were PubMed, PsycINFO, SciELO, Scopus. 14 studies were selected after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Most of the articles were published in English, were empirical studies, with quantitative design, and samples of children in the school context. There was an association between children’s SWB and peer relationships, with contribution of personal (e.g. sex) and contextual (e.g. school environment) variables to the relationship between these constructs. Individual (e.g. self-esteem) and contextual (e.g. positive parenting) aspects of resilience were found as variables that are related to children’s SWB. The review highlights the potential of positive peer relationships in childhood as a predictor of both SWB and resilience

COVID-19: Reflections on the Crisis, Transformation, and Interactive Processes Under Development

With a global extent, the pandemic of the new coronavirus and the resulting measures to contain the contagion imposed immediate changes in the routine of people and societies. In view of this historical event, the first part of this theoretical study discussed its relationship with the concept of crisis, while circumscribing human development processes, mobilizing reorganizations in life trajectories. In the second part, the intensification of the use of digital tools to support communication during social isolation was highlighted, particularly reflecting on new interactive arrangements and inter-corporeal experiences. The paper reflects on the proximal processes in the new interactive and contextual configurations through the bioecological theory of human development and, based on concepts of the enactive theory, discusses possible implications of the new perceptual fields and the production of meanings with the repositioning of the body and new modes of engagement. The study highlights that the changes, events, relationships, and effects that we are experiencing (trans)form our forms of sociability and bases of psyche.publishedVersionPeer reviewe

Os Usos do Tempo Livre entre Jovens de Classes Populares

RESUMO O presente estudo, de caráter quantitativo, pretendeu investigar aspectos relacionados ao tempo livre de jovens de classes populares. Participaram da pesquisa 291 jovens (53,3% meninas), de 15 a 19 anos (M = 16,3; DP = 1,09), estudantes de ensino médio em escolas públicas da Grande Vitória, ES. Os dados foram coletados através de questionário e analisados através do software SPSS. Os resultados apontaram, principalmente, para os diferentes fatores envolvidos nas formas de apropriação do tempo livre entre esses jovens, não relacionados estritamente à renda, mas também a aspectos como gênero, meio em que vivem, estilos de vida e grupos de que participam
