Comprehensible Input and Proficiency-Based Grading: A Curriculum Designed for Novice-Mid French Students
Narum, Ingrid. (2020). Comprehensible input and proficiency-based grading: a curriculum designed for novice-mid French students.
The research question addressed in this capstone project is, âHow do comprehensible input and proficiency-based grading affect language learning in the classroom?â Theories and strategies related to comprehensible input and proficiency-based grading in the foreign language classroom, focusing on instruction and assessment was researched. Best practices were identified and established that move away from traditional methods in the language classroom. The outcome of this research is a unit plan designed for novice-mid French students. The unit plan includes daily lessons that utilize comprehensible input strategies, student self-reflection and proficiency assessments based in real-world contexts
Childlessness and the church : an investigation of the tension that is to be found in theRoman Catholic Church between church teaching on assisted reproduction
Master's thesis in global studies. School of Mission and Theology, May 2009The thesis is about the tension found in the Roman Catholic Church between Church teaching on assisted reproduction and the opinions of lay people, theologians and members of the clergy on this topic. It is both a documentary study and a qualitative study of members of the faithful to discover the reasons for their choices concerning certain reproductive methods and also their interpretation of Church teaching

A Review of Chronic Lateral Ankle Instability
Ankle injuries constitute one of the most common and most frequent injuries affecting the lower extremities, with lateral ligament sprains comprising the majority of the ankle injuries. The development of chronic lateral ankle instability is a relatively common occurrence following an acute ankle sprain. Previously the treatment of chronic lateral ankle instability has been primary surgical intervention, but more recently the initial treatment is shifting toward a conservative approach emphasizing functional rehabilitation of the unstable ankle. Frequently the treatment of recurrent sprains and chronic instability addresses only the symptoms; however, a treatment program addressing the underlying causes of instability needs to be implemented in order to restore normal stability to the ankle.
The purpose of this literature review is to examine the normal anatomy and biomechanics of the ankle joint, describe the difference between mechanical and functional instability, and discuss the etiology of chronic lateral ankle instability. Furthermore, a conservative management approach consisting of a functional rehabilitation program is outlined to provide general guidelines for the conservative treatment of chronic instability
Making the Grade: School-Based Telemedicine and Parental Consent
This Comment advocates for a uniform state-by-state regulation, requiring schools to obtain parental consent immediately before any telemedicine service is provided to their children at school. Alternatively, the constitutional issues could be eliminated if telemedicine consent forms enumerate a finite and limited list of what medical services may be provided. These reforms will ensure not only that parentsâ and childrenâs constitutional rights are protected, but also that schools and doctors provide the most informed health care services. Part II describes a background of school-based health, as well as the benefits and risks of offering telemedicine in schools. Part III explains the Fourteenth Amendment constitutional right of parents to control and manage the health care of their minor children, and the Fourth Amendment right of children to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures. Part IV argues that states that do not require immediate parental consent before providing telemedicine services violate the Constitution because telemedicine parental consent forms are too vague and ambiguous and therefore do not adequately protect the rights of parents to control the medical care of their children. The section compares various state laws and regulations regarding telemedicine and highlights the lack of legislation protecting the right of parents to consent to medical treatment.
This Comment ultimately argues that states should implement a uniform standard that requires schools to contact parents immediately before administering any telemedicine services, or alternatively, that requires states to provide telemedicine consent forms with a restricted, limited list of telemedicine services that the school may provide
Joint Forecasting of Salmon Lice and Treatment Interventions in Aquaculture Operations
The need for joint forecasting of parasitic lice and associated preventative treatments stems from large monetary losses associated with such treatments, and the distribution of potential future treatments can be used in operational planning to hedge their associated risk. We present a spatio-temporal forecasting model that accounts for the joint dynamics between lice and treatments where spatial interaction between sites is derived from hydrodynamic transportation patterns. The model-derived forecasting distributions exhibit large heterogeneity between sites at significant levels of exposure which suggests the forecasting model can provide great value in assisting operational risk management
Data i geometriundervisningen
I undervisningen benytter elevene Cabri II. Resultatene som kommer fram analyseres med det for Ăžye Ă„ se om vi gjennom Ă„ arbeide med Cabri II kan framheve misoppfatninger, slik at elevene kan utvikle begreper knyttet til mangekanter
