Kisan Call Centre (KCC) is one of the major initiatives taken up by the Ministry ofAgriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India to provide timely agriculture and allied sector information to the farming community through landline or mobile connection. The service is provided through a toll-free number of 1800-180-1551. Considering the importance of KCC, the research study was conducted in Mahaboobnagar District of Telangana State in India with a sample size of 90 farmers to find out and analyze benefits obtained by the farming community through Kisan Call Centre Services. The results revealed that maximum number of the respondents expressed that KCC advisory was able to save cost of cultivation and in forecasting the pest and disease outbreak in a particular region. The study also showed that farming experience, source of irrigation, contact with extension agencies, participation in extension methods, perception towards mobile phones in farming and innovativeness showed positive and significant relationship with the benefits obtained by respondents

This research focuses on improving the stock rotation of the raw materials warehouse of a sheep wool yarn production plant. The objective is to reduce excessive operating costs, the misuse of resources and improve the distribution of materials in the warehouse. This article develops an innovative solution, where the 7S, Poka-yoke, Slotting, and Kardex tools were used to improve the deficiencies in the inventory management systems and the storage conditions of the materials, as well as errors in the stock register. The case study is divided into four stages analysis of the problems and causes, improvement of inventory management activities and tools, evaluation of the impacts generated, and validation of the proposed model. This was carried out in the simulation software Arena, where an increase from 0.83 to 2.4 in raw material turnover, reduced errors in inventory control, and an improvement in the efficiency of inventory management were observed. This case study provides a foundation for other lines of investigation and the model's use by businesses with comparable traits.Revisión por pare

Implementation of a Lean Manufacturing and SLP-based system for a footwear company

Paper aims: This research article addresses an innovative solution to face one of the main problems in the footwear industry, namely the high order non-fulfillment rate. Originality: This research offers companies in the footwear industry the possibility of implementing Andon through a structured and planned process that allows expediting problem solving. The advantage of this system is the ability to signal the status of workstations through rapid visual identification. Moreover, in this way social distancing is also secured, in line with World Health Organization guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Research method: The article presents four phases through which the case study was addressed. Planning (determination of objectives), Restructuring of the Operations Area, Improvement of the Production Line and Continuous Improvement. Main findings: An Arena simulation system was used to establish a new scenario where the defective product indicator decreases by 3.13% and productivity improves by about 38%. In turn, the resulting increase in the number of orders enhances company sales and profits, as well as the ability to meet the customer demand in a timely manner. Implications for theory and practice: The case study suggests that the main causes of this issue (high order non-fulfillment rate) are the increasing rate of defective goods, delays in the production process, and excessive time consumption in the movement of staff and materials. This research serves as the basis for future lines of research, as well as for other organizations with similar characteristics to implement the proposal

Productivity Enhancement through a Proposed Methodology in the Cutting Process of SMEs

The textile industry is still an essential sector in the global economy, and Peru, it plays a significant role in job creation. However, it often faces challenges such as a lack of innovation, high competition that decides imported products, and low productivity. To effectively address this problem and improve competitiveness in the market, implementing the Lean Manufacturing tools just like that 5S, standardized work, and Kaizen es proposed. These tools focus on addressing the high cycle times in the production process and have proven to be effective in improving the efficiency and productivity of textile companies. Specifically, the research focused on the cutting process of the representative product, the dress, and the result s showed a significant improvement in production, increasing from 26 to 33 garments per Man-Hour(M-H). In conclusion, implementing Lean Manufacturing tools can improve the productivity and competitiveness of the textile companies in Peru, and their implementation es recommended to address the challenges and opportunities of the sector.Revisión por pare

Design and Analysis of a Wind Turbine Blade with Dimples to Enhance the Efficiency through CFD with ANSYS R16.0

In the global scenario, wind turbines and their aerodynamics are always subjected to constant research for increasing their efficiency which converts the abundant wind energy into usable electrical energy. In this research, an attempt is made to increase the efficiency through the changes in surface topology of wind turbines through computational fluid dynamics. Dimples on the other hand are very efficient in reducing air drag as is it evident from the reduction of drag and increase in lift in golf balls. The predominant factors influencing the efficiency of the wind turbines are lift and drag which are to be maximized and minimized respectively. In this research, surface of turbine blades are integrated with dimples of various sizes and arrangements and are analyzed using computational fluid dynamics to obtain an optimum combination. The analysis result shows that there is an increase in power with about 15% increase in efficiency. Hence, integration of dimples on the surface of wind turbine blades has helped in increasing the overall efficiency of the wind turbine
