Stress Analysis of Intervertebral Substitute by using Lumbar Vertebrae model

    Get PDF
Stress distribution in the intervertebral substitute inserted in set of two lumbar vertebrae model by compressive stress measurements is reported. The intensity of stress from the back shows maximum value under vertical compressive load

A high-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia derived from a complete hydatidiform mole with coexisting fetus identified by short tandem repeats analysis: A case report

A complete hydatidiform mole coexisting with a fetus (CHMCF) is a rare form of twin pregnancy. High-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) can occur after a CHMCF pregnancy, although the frequency is low. In cases of GTN, the clinical diagnosis and that based on the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) scoring system can differ. This case report concerns a patient with a choriocarcinoma that was initially diagnosed and treated as a low-risk stage III GTN following a live birth from a CHMCF pregnancy. We used short tandem repeat (STR) analysis to identify the causative pregnancy as the patient's earlier complete hydatidiform mole. Clinicians should anticipate a high-risk GTN when treating persistent trophoblastic disease (PTD) in patients with a non-typical course

Occurrence and distribution of Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Liviidae) and Tamarixia radiata (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) in Pará state, Brazil

ABSTRACT: This study presents and discusses the results of a survey for the presence of Diaphorina citri Kuwayama and its natural enemies in Citrus spp. citrus and Murraya sp. myrtle plants in Pará State, Brazil. From 2013 to 2017, observations were made in five mesoregions of the State, and where D. citri was present, branches were examined to quantify eggs, nymphs and mummies with parasitoid emergence holes and to obtain parasitoids. D. citri adults were used to detected the bacterium through nested polymerase chain reaction (NESTED-PCR). Psyllids were found in citrus and myrtle plants. A total of 583 parasitoid specimens of Tamarixia radiata (Waterston) were obtained. The bacterial detection test was negative for Candidatus Liberibacter spp. Psyllids and parasitoids were present in the Lower Amazon, Metropolitan area, Northeastern Pará, Southeastern Pará and Southwestern Pará mesoregions. The presence of D. citri in citrus, with was previously absent in this host, alters the risk situation for Huanglongbing (HLB) in the State. These results will aid in developing preventive or containment measures through phytosanitary protection

The Effect of Chain Length on Phase Diagram for the Systems of Symmetric Long Chain Ketone and n-Alkane

Phase diagrams for the binary systems of symmetric long chain ketone and n-alkane (Kn/Cn, n: the number of carbon atoms) were determined by DSC and polarizing microscopic observations. The systems of K25/Cn, ranging from C25 to C29, was examined. These systems had similar characteristics in the phase diagram. It consisted of two regions of solid solution for lower concentrations of K25 and eutectic for higher ones. The critical concentration between these two regions increased as the difference in the chain length of both components was increased. This behavior was interpreted in terms of entropy contribution from transversal and longitudinal dispositions of ketone molecules. The systems of K29/C29 and K39/C39 were also examined. The critical concentration increased with the increase of chain length
