    Get PDF
Using new digital technology in education has become a reality everyone must accept with the development of Education 5.0. Moreover, online learning is no longer alien to most university students after the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, the traditionally practical-focused entrepreneurship course is also available online. However, little extant literature has investigated student engagement in online learning. Therefore, this paper aimed to establish a new model to show how student engagement in online learning affected individual entrepreneurial orientation (IEO) and entrepreneurial intention (EI). This paper employed the online student engagement (OSE) model, the concept of IEO and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in developing the research model. The data were analyzed using partial least squared-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicated that IEO positively affected two elements of OSE, namely emotion and participation. A positive relationship was found between IEO and EI. It further found that IEO mediated the relationships between emotion and EI as well as between participation and EI. Therefore, it concluded that IEO was a crucial determinant of EI and it enhanced the relationship between OSE and EI. This paper produced both literature and practical outcomes. Literary, it produced a new model which explained the relationships among OSE, IEO and EI. Practically, it identified critical factors that higher education institutions could take into consideration in developing student entrepreneurs. It was also critical in supporting Malaysian governmental agendas that focused on developing competitive entrepreneurs, such as the Economic Transformation Program (ETP) and Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education)

The present study examined the role of demographic variables as the moderator between organizational variables and job stress. A sample size of 177 teachers participated in this study revealed that teachers in Tawau and Lahad Datu experienced low stress levels. This study found that demographic variables do not serve as the moderator between organizational variables and job stress

Talent management in the manufacturing sector: A systemic literature review

    Get PDF
This article conducts a systematic literature review (SLR) analysis and relates to talent management (TM) in the manufacturing industry. The objectives are first, to provide a comprehensive analysis of TM research in the manufacturing industry; second, to identify and discuss key research topics, and third, to recommend avenues for future research. The study examines publications that were published between 2008 and 2022, which were thoroughly searched and obtained from four established databases: Scopus, Web of Science, Mendeley, and Google Scholar. According to the findings, academics are becoming more interested in TM in the manufacturing industry, which appears to be related to a scarcity of talent with high knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs), which contributes to negative organisational outcomes. The article presents findings that have relevance for both academia and practitioners. It provides data on existing research while also emphasizing the need for further investigation into the discovery, value, and implementation of TM. As a result, this article offers a pathway for researchers to conduct empirical studies on the role of TM practices in effectively and efficiently managing manufacturing talent with high KSAs. Furthermore, the article adheres to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis (PRISMA) requirements for SLRs, ensuring a structured approach to the content and methodology of the study

A prospective study on patterns of use of schizophrenia medications in outpatient pharmacy department, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Selangor, Malaysia

Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric disorder and pharmacotherapy plays a major role in its management. The 1950s and early 1960s saw milestones in the introduction of psychotropic drugs in clinical practice. A review of drug prescriptions in different settings provides an insight into the pattern of drug use, identifies drug-related problems and may be used to compare recommended guidelines with actual practice. This effort led to the evaluation of the drug prescribing pattern of antipsychotics in patients attending the psychiatric clinic at a government hospital. The data from 371 antipsychotic medication prescriptions that included 200 prescriptions for schizophrenia were collected during one month (1rst-31rst August 2008) at the outpatient pharmacy department. The mean age of patients was 35.0 years (SD = 1.131), with a male to female ratio of 2:1. The most widely used oral antipsychotic was haloperidol (16.3%) while the most common depot preparation prescribed was zuclopenthixol decanoate (8.8%). The daily dose of the average antipsychotic prescribed in this clinic was 342.06 mg equivalent of chlorpromazine. There was no relation between the doses received and ethnicity of the patient (Malay, Chinese or Indian). However, there was a significant relationship between the prescribed dose and patient age (P < 0.042). Nearly 32% of the schizophrenia patients were prescribed with atypical antipsychotics such as olanzapine (10.8%), risperidone (10.0%), quetiapine (7.6%) and clozapine (3.2%). Monotherapy was given to 73.0% of the schizophrenia patients. The majority of patients also received antidepressants. To conclude, this study gave evidence that physicians had a strong preference for monotherapy with conventional antipsychotic drugs while the use of atypical drugs was less prevalent
