    Temperature-Dependent Polarized Raman Spectra of CaFe2O4

    The Raman spectra of CaFe2O4 were measured with several exact scattering configurations between 20 and 520K and the symmetry of all observed Raman lines was determined. The Ag and B2g lines were assigned to definite phonon modes by comparison to the results of lattice dynamical calculations. No anomaly of phonon parameters was observed near the magnetic ordering temperature TN = 160K.Comment: 4 pages, 1 table, 4 figure

    With the use of Akeno calorimeter, the attenuation of particles in concrete is analyzed as the function of the shower size of 10 to the 5th power to 10 to the 7th power. The attenuation length does not depend much on the shower size but depends a little on the shower age. The average value is approx. 150 g/sq cm for s = 0.5 to 0.85 and approx. 40 g/sq cm for s = 0.85 to 1.15. These values and their fluctuations are consistent with the equi-intensity curves of extensive air showers (EAS)

    Genetic analysis of tolerance to rice tungro bacilliform virus in rice (Oryza sativa L.) through agroinoculation

    Balimau Putih [an Indonesian cultivar tolerant to rice tungro bacilliform virus (RTBV)] was crossed with IR64 (RTBV, susceptible variety) to produce the three filial generations F1, F2 and F3. Agroinoculation was used to introduce RTBV into the test plants. RTBV tolerance was based on the RTBV level in plants by analysis of coat protein using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The level of RTBV in cv. Balimau Putih was significantly lower than that of IR64 and the susceptible control, Taichung Native 1. Mean RTBV levels of the F1, F2 and F3 populations were comparable with one another and with the average of the parents. Results indicate that there was no dominance and an additive gene action may control the expression of tolerance to RTBV. Tolerance based on the level of RTBV coat protein was highly heritable (0.67) as estimated using the mean values of F3 lines, suggesting that selection for tolerance to RTBV can be performed in the early selfing generations using the technique employed in this study.     Measurement of energy muons in EAS at energy region larger thean 10(17) eV

    A measurement of low energy muons in extensive air showers (EAS) (threshold energies are 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.38 GeV) was carried out. The density under the concrete shielding equivalent to 0.25 GeV at core distance less than 500 m and 0.5 GeV less than 150 m suffers contamination of electromagnetic components. Therefore the thickness of concrete shielding for muon detectors for the giant air shower array is determined to be 0.5 GeV equivalence. Effects of photoproduced muons are found to be negligible in the examined ranges of shower sizes and core distances. The fluctuation of the muon density in 90 sq m is at most 25% between 200 m and 600 m from the core around 10 to the 17th power eV

    Studi Tentang Aplikasi Kompos Ub Pada Pertumbuhan Dan Hasil Tanaman Talas (Colocasia Esculenta (L.) Schott Var. Antiquorum) Yang Ditanam Di Lahan Kering Pada Musim Kemarau

    Kelompok tanaman dari umbi-umbian seperti tanaman talas memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan karena dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber bahan pangan alternatif yang sehat dan aman. Akan tetapi produksi umbi talas pada lahan kering masih rendah. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya untuk meningkatkan produksi umbi talas pada lahan kering dengan aplikasi bahan organik. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mempelajari pengaruh tingkat pemupukan kompos UB pada pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman talas dilahan kering dan menentukan tingkat pemupukan kompos UB yang optimum pada tanaman talas. Penelitian dilaksanakan dari bulan Mei – November 2014 di dusun Jetak Lor, desa Mulyoagung, Dau, Malang. Bahan yang digunakan ialah bibit tanaman talas varietas Antiquorum dan kompos UB. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok yang menempatkan dosis kompos UB sebagai perlakuan, terdiri dari 6 taraf yaitu: 0% (0 ton ha-1), 25% (1,51 ton ha-1), 50% (3,02 ton ha-1), 75% (4,53 ton ha-1), 100% (6,05 ton ha-1) dan 125% (7,56 ton ha-1). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil panen per hektar yang lebih tinggi didapatkan pada aplikasi kompos UB dengan dosis 125%, yaitu sebesar 12,77 ton ha-1
