    Colonoscopy Quality Assessment

    Get PDF
Colonoscopy is the cornerstone of colorectal cancer screening programs. There is significant variability in the quality of colonoscopy between endoscopists. Colonoscopy quality assessment tracks various metrics in  order  to  improve  the  effectiveness  of  colonoscopy,  aiming  at  reducing  the  incidence  and  mortality  from colorectal cancer. Adenoma detection rate is the prime metric, as it is associated with the risk of interval  cancers.  Implementing  processes  to  measure and improve the adenoma detection rate  is  essential to improve the quality of colonoscopy

Infectious Mononucleosis: A Case Report With Unusual Features and Abnormal Laboratory Findings

Despite the widespread Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infections, we continue to see new reports with strange and unusual manifestations of the infection, which raises the question of how well we understand this pathogen. The age of contracting the infection is increasing in developed countries, which is changing the clinical presentation of those who get infected during their adolescence or early adulthood. In these stages, liver involvement is more prominent, and other physical symptoms are less apparent. Therefore, an update on infectious mononucleosis (IM) variable manifestation is required to make healthcare providers aware of this shift. This case stands as an example of the new shift as a patient scheduled for elective surgery suddenly presented with subclinical hepatitis caused by primary EBV infection. Our patient presented with few physical symptoms but had a classical picture of EBV-induced hepatitis on blood analysis. The diagnosis was missed by many physicians due to the varied presentations of IM. This case corresponds to the new evidence that suggests that hepatic involvement is one of the most prominent manifestation in the adult population with primary EBV infection

Preparation and Characterization of Green Fe3 O4 Nanoparticle Using the Aqueous Plant Extract of Gundelia tournefortii L.

In this work, the magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4-NPs) synthesized using a simple, fast, and environmentally acceptable green approach. Gundelia Tournefortii Extract, an aqueous plant extract, was used for the first time in green synthesis to prepare nanoparticles as reducing, capping, and stabilizing agents. Such biomolecules as flavonoids, alkaloids, and antioxidants are found in the aqueous leaf extract, and their presence has been determined to have an important role in the synthesis of Fe3O4-NPs. The techniques used in this analysis include Fourier Transform Infrared, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy-Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction, Transmission Electron Microscopy, and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer. The Vibrating Sample Magnetometer demonstrated that the samples were superparamagnetic, with a magnetization value of 48.6 emu/g. The prepared nanoparticle was applied to  remove Chrystal Violet (CV), Malachite Green(MG), and Safranin (S) dyes from prepared aqueous solutions with the adsorption capacity of 13.9, 15.6, and 14.4 mg/g respectively

Bulk entanglement entropy in perturbative excited states

    Get PDF
We compute the bulk entanglement entropy across the Ryu-Takayanagi surface for a oneparticle state in a scalar field theory in AdS3. We work directly within the bulk Hilbert space and include the spatial spread of the scalar wavefunction. We give closed form expressions in the limit of small interval sizes and compare the result to a CFT computation of entanglement entropy in an excited primary state at large c. Including the contribution from the backreacted minimal area, we find agreement between the CFT result and the FLM and JLMS formulas for quantum corrections to holographic entanglement entropy. This provides a non-trivial check in a state where the answer is not dictated by symmetry. Along the way, we provide closed-form expressions for the scalar field Bogoliubov coefficients that relate the global and Rindler slicings of AdS3

Emergency Management System Design for Accurate Data: A Case Study

    Get PDF
In any city – smart or not – emergency response is a critical service. In smart cities, the use of technology to manage access to and dispatching of emergency vehicles is particularly important. However, when a system must manage processes spanning multiple computers, clock drift becomes a prominent issue. We show the impact that clock drift can have in a prototype emergency management dispatch system along with a case-study illustrating design techniques that can remedy this issue

Evaluation of Crocus sativus L. Quality Using FTIR Spectroscopy

    Get PDF
Crocus sativus L. is one the important spices that gives food a distinctive color and taste as well as its medicinal value. Its quality can be estimated using different analysis methods. In This study we used FTIR spectroscopy to Evaluate Crocus sativus L. quality at MEDICO Lab 2023. FTIR Spectroscopy is a fast and reliable analytical method for quality saffron evaluation. The results of FTIR spectra indicated functional groups related to O-H, C=C, C=O, C-O, C(O)–O, C-H, C-H (cis-) and C-H (trans-). Also, our samples lacked the distinctive bands of the active substances of crocetin. Furthermore, the flowers in our samples contained different numbers of stigmas, evidence of the genetic mixing of the bulbs used
