Myth in the novel “The Mark of Athena” by Rich Riordan

This thesis is the research about the myth in the novel “The Mark of Athena” by Rich Riordan. This research used semiological approach by Roland Barthes. The objectives of this research are (1) To find the kinds of myth in the novel “The Mark of Athena” by Rich Riordan, (2) To find the connotation meaning of the myth in the Novel “The Mark of Athena” according to Barthes. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The data of this research are taken from Rich Riordan’s novel “The Mark of Athena” which is published in 2012. In collecting the data, the researcher used note taking as instrument. In this research the researcher found that there are three kinds of myths in the novel are; rebirth myths, eschatological myths, the tricksters myths. The connotation meaning of myth found in the novel are; eternity, judgment day, and braggart. The implication of this research to give understanding about kinds of myths the readers or to the next researchers that interested learns about myths issues in the literary work

Malaysian and Indonesian Learners: They Are Judges of How They Learn English Most Effectively in and Out of Classrooms

The position of English is that of a Second Language in Malaysia and a Foreign Language in Indonesia. But the objective is the same that is to enable the learners to communicate effectively and efficiently in social and professional situations. Learners' beliefs and learners' strategies are also part of the learning processes. Strategies are ways of managing the complex information that the learners are receiving about the target language. This study aims to find out (i) the learners' beliefs on the importance of English (ii) what the learners will do (strategies) to manage their own learning. 100 respondents participated in the study. They responded to open ended questions. The results show that there are similarities and differences in the ways the Malaysian and Indonesian learners perceived the importance of English. They also have similarities and differences in their strategies to manage their own learning to achieve their goals. As a conclusion, even though the two countries adopted different language policy, the learners of English as a Second and Foreign Language have their own enthusiasms and they make judgements about how to learn the language effectively and they have the awareness of what language learning is like

Penggunaan Algoritma Genetik Untuk Mencari Parameter Rumus EMPI 17 Indikator

Sebuah sistem yang dapat mendeteksi krisis ekonomi dan keuangan secara lebih awal merupakan salahsatu kebutuhan yang berkembang, khususnya sejak terjadinya krisis mata uang yang menghantam kawasan Asiasejak 1997. Diharapkan dengan adanya sistem tersebut, maka krisis ekonomi atau keuangan dapat diantisipasisedini mungkin. Saat ini banyak terdapat pendekatan atau model yang dapat digunakan untuk membuat sistemtersebut. Makalah ini menyajikan bagaimana model algoritma genetik (genetic algorithm) mencari parameterdari rumus EMPI (Exchange Market Pressure Index) yang dapat digunakan untuk memprediksi kemungkinanterjadinya krisis mata uang dalam suatu horison peringatan tertentu ke depan. Model ini menggunakan sampeldata antara Juli 1997 hingga Desember 2004

Peran Promosi Kesehatan terhadap Tingkat Motivasi Pasien Mendapatkan Layanan Fisioterapi di Puskesmas Bantimurung

The role of health promotion and the level of patient motivation getting physiotherapy services in public health center of BantimurungPurposeThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the result of media meeting coverage on breastfeeding promotion in mass media. MethodsThis study used a pre-experimental quantitative research with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population samples of this research were all patients who are in the working area of Puskesmas Bantimurung, Bantimurung district of Maros during the years 2013-2014 totaling 46 people, and all patients were respondents in the study. ResultsThe results of data processing show the increase of patient motivation to get physiotherapy services in the working area of Puskesmas Bantimurung. Results show the motivation increased 20.06%. ConclusionThis finding suggests that health promotion is proven to increase patient motivation in the work area of Puskesmas Bantimurung. It is expected that patients will continue to maintain an active role in the search for physiotherapy services in accordance with the conditions and also remain always active in seeking information about their disease

Pemanfaatan Projected Motion Media Untuk Meningkatkan Pemahaman Konsep Mahasiswa Pada Mata Kuliah Ilmu Pengetahuan Bumi Dan Antariksa (Ipba)

Ilmu Pengetahuan Bumi dan Antariksa (IPBA) merupakan salahsatu bidang Ilmu yang harus dikuasai oleh calon pendidik di SMPmaupun SMA.Oleh karena itu Program Studi Pendidikan fisika IKIPPGRI Semarang memasukkan salah satu mata kuliah ini untuk dipelajari oleh calon guru. IPBA merupakan ilmu yang membutuhkanpemahaman konsep.Selama ini banyak mahasiswa fisika yang kurangmemahami konsep dalam perkuliahan IPBA karena selama ini dosenhanya menggunakan media konvensional.Oleh karena itu dibutuhkanmedia yang tepat untuk pemahaman konsep IPBA. Salah satu caranyaadalah dengan menggunakan projected motion media.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen.Metode penelitianini dengan adanya uji instrument terlebih dahulu.Lalu instrument diuji cobakan pada kelompok eksperimen. Metode ini menggunakannilai gain untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman konsepmenggunakan media ini.Berdasarkan penelitian, peneliti dapat mengambil kesimpulanbahwa dengan menggunakan projrcted motion media dapatdigunakan sebagai media pemaham konsep

The Prediction Potential Areas of Catching Cakalang (Katsuwonus Pelamis) Based on Chlorophyll-a Distribution Using Satellite Image Npp Viirs in West Sumatra Waters

The purpose of this studywas to determine the potential area for catchingcakalang (Katsuwonuspelamis) based on the distribution of chlorophyll-a satellite image of the NPP VIIRS in West Sumatra Waters by 2013. The methods used in this study are a survey method and spatial analysis. The results of this studysuggest that the location of the fishing ground cakalang by 2013 is at position 00 25 \u27 48 " N – 50 34 \u27 48" S and 950 25 \u27 23 " E-1000 57 \u27 E. Distribution of chlorophyll-a who analyzed satellite images of NPP VIIRS between 0.13-0.26 mg/m3 whereas maximum CPUE as much as 0,1875 kg/trip in April. Correlation between chlorophyll-a and CPUE have strong relationship i.e. 0.60 while the influence of these variables both 36% among other factors. The resulting regression equation both of these variables showed that the increasing chlorophyll-a caused the decline of the CPUE

Analisis Daya Gabung Galur Mandul Jantan Dan Heterosis Pada 12 Padi Hibrida (Oryza Sativa L.)

Padi hibrida yang memiliki nilai heterosis tinggi merupakan hibrida unggul. Pemuliaan varietas hibrida memerlukan galur-galur murni yang unggul sebagai tetua. Pendugaan nilai daya gabung umum (DGU) dan daya gabung khusus (DGK) mampu mengklasifikasikan kemampuan galur-galur murni dalam menghasilkan hibrida yang memiliki kombinasi dari tetua-tetuanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan : 1. Untuk mengetahui nilai DGU pada galur-galur mandul jantan (GMJ) dan DGK pada hibridanya, 2. Untuk mengetahui nilai heterosis dan heterobeltiosis pada beberapa padi hibrida. Penelitian dirancang menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan meliputi 19 genotip yaitu 12 padi hibrida hasil persilangan 4 GMJ/3 penguji (restorer) beserta 7 tetuanya. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Tunggulwulung, Lowokwaru, Malang dengan ketinggian + 450 mdpl, dan suhu rata-rata harian 23-290C. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2013 – Mei 2014. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, karakter hasil dari gmj CGMJ14P02F menunjukkan nilai DGU terbaik, nyata, dan positif. Selain karakter hasil, nilai DGU positif dan nyata juga ditunjukkan pada jumlah gabah total per malai. Nilai DGK pada karakter hasil menunjukkan bahwa hibrida CGMJ14P02F/R114002R memiliki nilai DGK tertinggi dan nyata dan pada karakter lain, jumlah gabah isi per malai juga menunjukkan nilai nyata DGK. Nilai heterosis karakter hasil menunjukkan bahwa CGMJ14P02F/R114002R memiliki nilai heterosis dan heterobeltiosis terbaik dan didukung oleh tingginya nilai heterosis dan heterobeltiosis jumlah gabah isi per malai dan persentase gabah isi per malai
