Canonical transformation for stiff matter models in quantum cosmology
In the present work we consider Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models in the
presence of a stiff matter perfect fluid and a cosmological constant. We write
the superhamiltonian of these models using the Schutz's variational formalism.
We notice that the resulting superhamiltonians have terms that will lead to
factor ordering ambiguities when they are written as operators. In order to
remove these ambiguities, we introduce appropriate coordinate transformations

In the present work, we study the quantum cosmology description of closed
Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models in the presence of a positive cosmological
constant and a generic perfect fluid. We work in the Schutz's variational
formalism. If one uses the scale factor and its canonically conjugated momentum
as the phase space variables that describe the geometrical sector of these
models, one obtains Wheeler-DeWitt equations with operator ordering
ambiguities. In order to avoid those ambiguities and simplify the quantum
treatment of the models, we introduce new phase space variables. We explicitly
demonstrate that the transformation leading from the old set of variables to
the new one is canonical. In order to show that the above canonical
transformations simplify the quantum treatment of those models, we consider a
particular model where the perfect fluid is dust. We solve the Wheeler-DeWitt
equation numerically using the Crank-Nicholson scheme and determine the time
evolution of the initial wave function. Finally, we compare the results for the
present model with the ones for another model where the only difference is the
presence of a radiative perfect fluid, instead of dust.Comment: Revtex4, 18 pages, 2 EPS figure
Propagation of spatially entangled qudits through free space
We show the propagation of entangled states of high-dimensional quantum
systems. The qudits states were generated using the transverse correlation of
the twin photons produced by spontaneous parametric down-conversion. Their
free-space distribution was performed at the laboratory scale and the
propagated states maintained a high-fidelity with their original form. The use
of entangled qudits allow an increase in the quantity of information that can
be transmitted and may also guarantee more privacy for communicating parties.
Therefore, studies about propagating entangled states of qudits are important

Analytical results for a Bessel function times Legendre polynomials class integrals
When treating problems of vector diffraction in electromagnetic theory, the
evaluation of the integral involving Bessel and associated Legendre functions
is necessary. Here we present the analytical result for this integral that will
make unnecessary numerical quadrature techniques or localized approximations.
The solution is presented using the properties of the Bessel and associated

Field results on developed three-phase four-wire shunt active power filters
Abstract-This paper presents three-phase four-wire Shunt Active Power Filters with ability to compensate current harmonics, power factor, and current unbalance. The power stage of the Active Power Filters is based on a two-level four-leg inverter. The switching technique is based on an optimized periodic sampling strategy, and the digital controller uses the Theory of Instantaneous Reactive Power (p-q Theory) expanded for three- phase four-wire systems. The presented Active Power Filters were successfully demonstrated in four different facilities. The presented experimental results show the performance of the Active Power Filters in operation with very different load profiles
Cnidaria, Scleractinia, Siderastreidae, Siderastrea siderea (Ellis and Solander, 1786): Hartt Expedition and the first record of a Caribbean siderastreid in tropical Southwestern Atlantic
Samples of Siderastrea collected by the geologist C. F. Hartt during expedition to Brazil (19th century), anddeposited at the National Museum of the Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, have been re-examined. Taxonomicalanalyses resulted in the identification of a colony of S. siderea from offshore northern Bahia state. Following recentstudies, the occurrence of Caribbean siderastreids to western South Atlantic provides new criteria to assess intra- andinterpopulational morphological variation of the endemic S. stellata, refuting historical trends of synonymizations possiblybiased by long-term taxonomical misunderstandings
Noncommutative Derivation of the Planck's Radiation Law
The Planck's radiation law for the blackbody radiation spectrum was capable
to explain the experimentally-measured blackbody spectrum. In order to get this
result, Planck proposed his radiation law in a two-fold way: 1) by an
\textit{ad hoc} modification of the assumed connection between energy and
entropy for thermal radiation; 2) by assuming that the calculation of the
entropy of an oscillator in thermal equilibrium with radiation is carried out
by discrete units of energy. As a consequence, the energy quantization, linear
in frequency, was thus introduced into physics. However, the energy
quantization of the simple harmonic oscillator was originally postulated by
Planck in an incomplete way, i.e., the ground state energy was not assumed to
be null. Of course, this issue has been solved in different ways over time.
Despite of this, we propose an alternative way to fix this issue by describing
harmonic oscillators at noncommutative(NC) framework, where the non-null ground
state energy naturally arises as a NC contribution. With this approach, the
Planck's quantum theory is updated and, consequently, becomes compatible with
the quantum mechanics inaugurated in 1925
