    Effects of thermal and quantum fluctuations on the phase diagram of a spin-1 87Rb Bose-Einstein condensate

    We investigate effects of thermal and quantum fluctuations on the phase diagram of a spin-1 87Rb Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) under a quadratic Zeeman effect. Due to the large ratio of spinindependent to spin-dependent interactions of 87Rb atoms, the effect of noncondensed atoms on the condensate is much more significant than that in scalar BECs. We find that the condensate and spontaneous magnetization emerge at different temperatures when the ground state is in the brokenaxisymmetry phase. In this phase, a magnetized condensate induces spin coherence of noncondensed atoms in different magnetic sublevels, resulting in temperature-dependent magnetization of the noncondensate.     Tunneling of a composite particle: Effects of intrinsic structure

    We consider simple models of tunneling of an object with intrinsic degrees of freedom. This important problem was not extensively studied until now, in spite of numerous applications in various areas of physics and astrophysics.     Law Number 5 of 1960 (UUPA), is a legal instrument that regulates land affairs and creates a single national land law. Basically an individual can have land rights, in Article 21 paragraph 1 states that the subject of ownership is an Indonesian citizen, right of ownership can be transferred, one of which is through the sale and purchase with proof of sale and purchase deeds made by the Acting Authority, and the referral to Government Regulation Number 8 of 2012, Articles 1320 and 1868 of the Civil Code , and how to register it according to Government Regulation Number 24 of 1997 and State Minister of Agrarian Regulation Number 3 of 1997. The method used in this research is the normative juridical research method supported by Empirical Juridical. Based on the results of this study it was concluded that Political Law through Instructions 898/I/V/A/1975 concerning the prohibition of ownership of land rights by Indonesian citizens of Chinese descent carried out by the Special Region of Yogyakarta to protect indigenous people who are economically weak, even though it is contrary to the Law Principal of Agrarianism, because ethnic Chinese are considered to be superior in financial terms, a form of positive discrimination is a form of the Sultan’s wish as the High Leader of Yogyakarta in protecting its financially weak people and the Deed of sale and purchase in the city of Yogyakarta that has been signed by the parties, witnesses as well as land deed officials, are not obliged to include the phrase Indigenous/ Non-Indigenous as long as the Land Deed Makers Officer makes a New Legal Document namely a statement that the sale and purchase is done by being able to reduce the Property Rights to another right for Indonesian citizens of Chinese descent, selling can be done by n the requirement that land ownership has become a Building Use Right if it does not have to start with the PPJB or the deed of releas

    A simple model is considered to study the effects of finite size and internal structure in the tunneling of bound two-body systems through a potential barrier.     Particle Monte Carlo simulation of string-like colloidal assembly in 2 dimensions

    We simulate structural phase behavior of polymer-grafted colloidal particles by molecular Monte Carlo technique. Interparticle potential, which has a finite repulsive square-step outside a rigid core of the colloid, was previously confirmed via numerical self-consistent field calculation. This model potential is purely repulsive. We simulate these model colloids in the canonical ensemble in 2 dimensions and find that these particles containing no interparticle attraction self-assemble and align in a string-like assembly, at low temperature and high density. This string-like colloidal assembly is related to percolation phenomena. Analyzing the cluster size distribution and the average string length, we build phase diagrams and discover that the average string length diverges around the region where the melting transition line and the percolation transition line cross. This result is similar to Ising spin systems, in which the percolation transition line and the order-disorder line meet at a critical point.Comment: 11 pages, 14 figure

    Further Analyses of the Safety of Verubecestat in the Phase 3 EPOCH Trial of Mild-To-Moderate Alzheimer’s Disease

    Background: Verubecestat, a BACE1 inhibitor that reduces AÎČ levels in the cerebrospinal fluid of humans, was not effective in a phase 3 trial (EPOCH) of mild-to-moderate AD and was associated with adverse events. To assist in the development of BACE1 inhibitors, we report detailed safety findings from EPOCH. Methods: EPOCH was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled 78-week trial evaluating verubecestat 12 mg and 40 mg in participants with mild-to-moderate AD diagnosed clinically. The trial was terminated due to futility close to its scheduled completion. Of 1957 participants who were randomized and took treatment, 652 were assigned to verubecestat 12 mg, 652 to verubecestat 40 mg, and 653 to placebo. Adverse events and relevant laboratory, vital sign, and ECG findings were assessed. Results: Verubecestat 12 mg and 40 mg were associated with an increase in the percentage of participants reporting adverse events versus placebo (89 and 92% vs. 82%), although relatively few participants discontinued treatment due to adverse events (8 and 9% vs. 6%). Adverse events that were increased versus placebo included falls and injuries, suicidal ideation, weight loss, sleep disturbance, rash, and hair color change. Most were mild to moderate in severity. Treatment differences in suicidal ideation emerged within the first 3 months but did not appear to increase after 6 months. In contrast, treatment differences in falls and injuries continued to increase over time. Conclusions: Verubecestat was associated with increased risk for several types of adverse events. Falls and injuries were notable for progressive increases over time. While the mechanisms underlying the increased adverse events are unclear, they may be due to BACE inhibition and should be considered in future clinical development programs of BACE1 inhibitors

    Superconducting gap function in the organic superconductor (TMTSF)2ClO4 with anion ordering; First-principles calculations and quasiclassical analysis for angle-resolved heat capacity

    We calculate angle-dependent heat capacity in a low magnetic field range on the basis of Kramer-Pesch approximation together with an electronic structure obtained by first-principles calculations to determine a superconducting gap function of (TMTSF)2ClO4 through its comparisons with experiments. The present comparative studies reveal that a nodal d-wave gap function consistently explains the experimental results for (TMTSF)2ClO4. Especially, it is emphasized that the observed unusual axis-asymmetry of the angle-dependence eliminates the possibility of s-wave and node-less d-wave functions. It is also found that the directional ordering of ClO4 anions does not have any significant effects on the Fermi surface structure contrary to the previous modelings since the two Fermi surfaces obtained by the band calculations almost cross within the present full accuracy in first-principles calculations.Comment: 8 pages, 11 figures, Accepted in Phys.     Generalized Area Law under Multi-parameter Rotating Black Hole Spacetime

    We study the statistical mechanics for quantum scalar fields under the multi-parameter rotating black hole spacetime in arbitrary D dimensions. The method of analysis is general in the sense that the metric does not depend on the explicit black hole solutions. The generalized Stefan-Boltzmann's law for the scalar field is derived by considering the allowed energy region properly. Then the generalized area law for the scalar field entropy is derived by introducing the invariant regularization parameter in the Rindler spacetime. The derived area law is applied to Kerr-AdS black holes in four and five dimensions. Thermodynamic implication is also discussed.Comment: 27 pages, no figure
