Changes in the soil cover under the impact of shortterm climate fluctuations
The purpose of this work was to identify the reaction soil cover for short-term climatic variations on. Based on the analysis, large-scale soil maps were compiled at different times using GIS technolog
Soil water retention curve of agrogray soils: influence of anisotropy and the scaling factor
The soil water characteristic or soil water retention curve (WRC) of medium-loamy gray forest soil horizons was studied in cylinder-shaped samples of disturbed and undisturbed structure. The sample height varied within 2-4 cm and the diameter within 4.5-10 cm. The soil monoliths were sampled in three profiles: vertically, along the slope, and across the slope in accordance with the intrasoil paleorelief formed by the fun-nel-shaped surface of the second humus horizon. The experimental WRC were approximated with the van Genuchten equatio
Urban sprawl in the regional settlement system: a case study of Belgorod and Stary Oskol-Gubkin metropolitan areas
The paper defines factors and methods of studying spatial sprawl of Belgorod and Stary Oskol-Gubkin metropolitan areas. A differentiation of population dynamics in Belgorod regional settlement system is made. Built-up areas are found to occupy larger territories and display a higher development density, while the population size in metropolitan areas does not change significantl
Eco-morphologic Aspects of Differentiation and Identification of Species Armillaria mellea Sensu Lato in Coppice Oakeries of Belgorod Region for the Purposes of Exploitation of Natural Resources
The article deals with matters of differentiation and identification of species of the complex Armillaria mellea sensu lato in loco in coppice oakeries of Belgorod region in Russian Federation. On the basis of results of comparison of local ecomorphotypes descriptions and known descriptions of Armillaria mellea s. l. European species it was stated that in Belgorod region’s oakeries there are two species belonging to the complex Armillaria mellea s. l.: Armillaria cepistipes and Armillaria gallic
Agrolandscape ecotones potential for rational nature management
The article deals with matters of studying mechanisms of agrolandscapes adaptation to dynamic environment based on using environment - forming and environment - stabilizing potential of such landscape components as ecotones. Premised on results of ecotones research, obtained by the authors in the territory of Russia’s forest - steppe zone, the article suggests optimal parameters of the protective fo rest plantation system inclusive of ecotone
