Traversable wormholes in a string cloud
We study spherically symmetric thin-shell wormholes in a string cloud
background in (3+1)-dimensional spacetime. The amount of exotic matter required
for the construction, the traversability and the stability under radial
perturbations, are analyzed as functions of the parameters of the model.
Besides, in the Appendices a non perturbative approach to the dynamics and a

Thin-shell wormholes with a generalized Chaplygin gas
In this article, spherically symmetric thin-shell wormholes supported by a
generalized Chaplygin gas are constructed and their stability under
perturbations preserving the symmetry is studied. Wormholes with charge and
with a cosmological constant are analyzed and the results are compared with
those obtained for the original Chaplygin gas, which was considered in a
previous work. For some values of the parameters, one stable configuration is

Discrete Model of Ideological Struggle Accounting for Migration
A discrete in time model of ideological competition is formulated taking into
account population migration. The model is based on interactions between global
populations of non-believers and followers of different ideologies. The complex
dynamics of the attracting manifolds is investigated.
Conversion from one ideology to another by means of (i) mass media influence
and (ii) interpersonal relations is considered. Moreover a different birth rate
is assumed for different ideologies, the rate being assumed to be positive for
the reference population, made of initially non-believers. Ideological
competition can happen in one or several regions in space. In the latter case,
migration of non-believers and adepts is allowed; this leads to an enrichment
of the ideological dynamics. Finally, the current ideological situation in the
Arab countries and China is commented upon from the point of view of the
presently developed mathematical model. The massive forced conversion by

The Anderson Model out of equilibrium: Time dependent perturbations
The influence of high-frequency fields on quantum transport through a quantum
dot is studied in the low-temperature regime. We generalize the non crossing
approximation for the infinite-U Anderson model to the time-dependent case. The
dc spectral density shows asymmetric Kondo side peaks due to photon-assisted
resonant tunneling. As a consequence we predict an electron-photon pump at zero
bias which is purely based on the Kondo effect. In contrast to the resonant
level model and the time-independent case we observe asymmetric peak amplitudes
in the Coulomb oscillations and the differential conductance versus bias
voltage shows resonant side peaks with a width much smaller than the tunneling
rate. All the effects might be used to clarify the question whether quantum

Resonant Photon-Assisted Tunneling Through a Double Quantum Dot: An Electron Pump From Spatial Rabi Oscillations
The time average of the fully nonlinear current through a double quantum dot,
subject to an arbitrary combination of ac and dc voltages, is calculated
exactly using the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green function technique. When driven
on resonance, the system functions as an efficient electron pump due to Rabi
oscillation between the dots. The pumping current is maximum when the coupling

Stability of Chaplygin gas thin-shell wormholes
In this paper we construct spherical thin-shell wormholes supported by a
Chaplygin gas. For a rather general class of geometries we introduce a new
approach for the stability analysis of static solutions under perturbations
preserving the symmetry. We apply this to wormholes constructed from
Schwarzschild, Schwarzschild-de Sitter, Schwarzschild-anti de Sitter and
Reissner-Nordstrom metrics. In the last two cases, we find that there are
values of the parameters for which stable static solutions exist.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures; v2: minor changes and new references added.

Electron irradiation induced reduction of the permittivity in chalcogenide glass (As2S3) thin film
We investigate the effect of electron beam irradiation on the dielectric
properties of As2S3 Chalcogenide glass. By means of low-loss Electron Energy
Loss Spectroscopy, we derive the permittivity function, its dispersive
relation, and calculate the refractive index and absorption coefficients under
the constant permeability approximation. The measured and calculated results
show, to the best of our knowledge, a heretofore unseen phenomenon: the
reduction in the permittivity of <40%, and consequently a modification of the
refractive index follows, reducing it by 20%, hence suggesting a significant
change on the optical properties of the material. The plausible physical
phenomena leading to these observations are discussed in terms of the homopolar
and heteropolar bond dynamics under high energy absorption.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figures, manuscript in preparation to send to Physical

Nonlinear Response of a Kondo system: Direct and Alternating Tunneling Currents
Non - equilibrium tunneling current of an Anderson impurity system subject to
both constant and alternating electric fields is studied. A time - dependent
Schrieffer - Wolff transformation maps the time - dependent Anderson
Hamiltonian onto a Kondo one. Perturbation expansion in powers of the Kondo
coupling strength is carried out up to third order, yielding a remarkably
simple analytical expression for the tunneling current. It is found that the
zero - bias anomaly is suppressed by an ac - field. Both dc and the first
harmonic are equally enhanced by the Kondo effect, while the higher harmonics
are relatively small. These results are shown to be valid also below the Kondo

The derivation of the Eliashberg -- type equations for a superconductor with
strong correlations and electron--phonon interaction has been presented. The
proper account of short range Coulomb interactions results in a strongly
anisotropic equations. Possible symmetries of the order parameter include s, p
and d wave. We found the carrier concentration dependence of the coupling
constants corresponding to these symmetries. At low hole doping the d-wave
