Auslander Systems
The authors generalize the dynamical system constructed by J. Auslander in 1959, resulting in perhaps the simplest family of examples of minimal but not strictly ergodic systems. A characterization of unique ergodicity and mean-L-stability is given. The new systems are also shown to have zero topological entropy and fail to be weakly rigid. Some results on the set of idempotents in the enveloping semigroup are also achieved
Low-energy, planar magnetic defects in BaFe2As2: nanotwins, twins, antiphase and domain boundaries
In BaFe2As2, structural and magnetic planar defects begin to proliferate
below the structural phase transition, affecting descriptions of magnetism and
superconductivity. We study using density-functional theory the stability and
magnetic properties of competing antiphase and domain boundaries, twins and
isolated twins (twin nuclei) - spin excitations proposed and/or observed.
These nanoscale defects have very low surface energy (-~Jm),
with twins favorable to the mesoscale. Defects exhibit smaller moments confined
near their boundaries -- making a uniform-moment picture inappropriate for
long-range magnetic order in real samples. {\it{Nano}}twins explain features in
measured pair distribution functions, so should be considered when analyzing
scattering data. All these defects can be weakly mobile and/or have
fluctuations that lower assessed "ordered" moments from longer spatial and/or

Paradigms for Parameterized Enumeration
The aim of the paper is to examine the computational complexity and
algorithmics of enumeration, the task to output all solutions of a given
problem, from the point of view of parameterized complexity. First we define
formally different notions of efficient enumeration in the context of
parameterized complexity. Second we show how different algorithmic paradigms
can be used in order to get parameter-efficient enumeration algorithms in a
number of examples. These paradigms use well-known principles from the design
of parameterized decision as well as enumeration techniques, like for instance
kernelization and self-reducibility. The concept of kernelization, in
particular, leads to a characterization of fixed-parameter tractable

Theory of the evolutionary minority game
We present a theory which describes a recently introduced model of an
evolving, adaptive system in which agents compete to be in the minority. The
agents themselves are able to evolve their strategies over time in an attempt
to improve their performance. The present theory explicitly demonstrates the
self-interaction, or so-called market impact, that agents in such systems
experience
Predictability of large future changes in a competitive evolving population
The dynamical evolution of many economic, sociological, biological and
physical systems tends to be dominated by a relatively small number of
unexpected, large changes (`extreme events'). We study the large, internal
changes produced in a generic multi-agent population competing for a limited
resource, and find that the level of predictability actually increases prior to
a large change. These large changes hence arise as a predictable consequence of

Combined inhibitory effect of nisin with EDTA against Listeria monocytogenes in soy-protein edible coating on turkey frankfurters stored at 4°C and 10°C
Several food contamination outbreaks are linked to Listeria monocytogenes. More effective methods are needed to prevent the growth and recontamination of L. monocytogenes on ready-to-eat (RTE) food products. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to evaluate the inhibitory activities of nisin (10,000 IU/mL), EDTA (sodium Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid: 1.6 mg/mL), and the combination of nisin (10,000 IU/mL) with EDTA 1.6 mg/mL either in brain-heart-infusion (BHI) media at 37°C for 72 h or in soy-protein edible coating on the surface of full-fat commercial turkey frankfurters against the cell populations of approximately 106 colony forming units (CFU/mL) of L. monocytogenes. The surface-inoculated frankfurters were dipped into soy-protein film forming solutions with and without the addition of antimicrobial agents [(nisin (10,000 IU) or EDTA (0.16%) or the combination)] and stored at either 4°C or 10°C. The inhibitory effects of edible coatings were evaluated on a weekly basis for 45 d. The greatest inhibitory activities of 6 log cycle reductions of L. monocytogenes were found when nisin was combined with EDTA and eliminated 6 log cycles of L. monocytogenes in both systems. In the combined nisin (10,000 IU) with EDTA (0.16%) treatment, the L. monocytogenes population was reduced to undetectable levels after 15 h or 7 d incubation in BHI at 37°C or on turkey frankfurters stored at 4°C and 10°C, respectively. This research has demonstrated that the use of an edible film coating containing nisin with EDTA is a promising means of controlling the growth and recontamination of L. monocytogenes on RTE meat products
Bc spectroscopy in a quantum-chromodynamic potential model
We have investigated spectroscopy with the use of a
quantum-chromodynamic potential model which was recently used by us for the
light-heavy quarkonia. We give our predictions for the energy levels and the
1 transition widths. We also find, rather surprisingly, that although
is not a light-heavy system, the heavy quark effective theory with the
inclusion of the and corrections is as successful
