Detection of hidden structures on all scales in amorphous materials and complex physical systems: basic notions and applications to networks, lattice systems, and glasses

Recent decades have seen the discovery of numerous complex materials. At the root of the complexity underlying many of these materials lies a large number of possible contending atomic- and larger-scale configurations and the intricate correlations between their constituents. For a detailed understanding, there is a need for tools that enable the detection of pertinent structures on all spatial and temporal scales. Towards this end, we suggest a new method by invoking ideas from network analysis and information theory. Our method efficiently identifies basic unit cells and topological defects in systems with low disorder and may analyze general amorphous structures to identify candidate natural structures where a clear definition of order is lacking. This general unbiased detection of physical structure does not require a guess as to which of the system properties should be deemed as important and may constitute a natural point of departure for further analysis. The method applies to both static and dynamic systems.Comment: (23 pages, 9 figures

Unified Power Flow Controller to Control Reactive Power

The developing countries use thyritor, GTO, IGBT, MOSFET, and many other electronic device. These are use for switching devices because its initial cost is low. The switching device are mechanical and then operating signal are sent to circuit where final control action take place, these are the slow process. Another problem are also associated with mechanical switch that it cannot control frequently[2]. To reduced this problem use in FACTS technology. It is developed in 1990. It can also use series and shunt condition. It is power electronic based and static device such as Thyristors, Gate turn offs(GTO), Insulated gate bipolar transistors(IGBT), Insulated Gate Commutated thyristors (IGCT),they can be controlled very fast as well as different control algorithms adapted to various situations[5]. The FACTS technology is use for controlling the both types of powers and enhancing the USAble capacity of present transmission systems[6]. It has increase line capacity .The ability of FACTS controllers to adjust the power system electrical parameters including series and shunt impedances, current, voltage, phase angle, and the damping oscillations etc. The FACTS devices has various power electronics devices [1]

It is very important to control the power flow along the transmission line. Thus to control and improve the performance of ac power systems, we need the various different types compensators Now-a-days the Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) is very popular and essential device in power systems. After introducing the FACTS technology, power flow along the transmission lines becomes more flexible and controllable. Several FACTS-devices have been introduced for various applications in power system. Among a variety of FACTS controllers, Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is the most powerful and versatile device

Long-term stability test of a triple GEM detector

The main aim of the study is to perform the long-term stability test of gain of the single mask triple GEM detector. A simple method is used for this long- term stability test using a radioactive X-ray source with high activity. The test is continued till accumulation of charge per unit area > 12.0 mC/mm2. The details of the chamber fabrication, the test set-up, the method of measurement and the test results are presented in this paper.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure

Systematics of elliptic flow in heavy-ion collisions

We analyze elliptic flow from SIS to RHIC energies systematically in a realistic dynamical cascade model. We compare our results with the recent data from STAR and PHOBOS collaborations on elliptic flow of charged particles at midrapidity in Au+ Au collisions at RHIC. In the analysis of elliptic flow at RHIC energy, we find a good fitting with data at 1.5 times a scaling factor to our model, which characterizes that the model is required to have extra pressure generated from the subsequent parton scattering after the initial minijet production. In energy dependence of elliptic flow, we notice re-hardening nature at RHIC energies. Both these two observations would probably imply the possible formation of quark-gluon plasma

Bivariate tt-distribution for transition matrix elements in Breit-Wigner to Gaussian domains of interacting particle systems

Interacting many-particle systems with a mean-field one body part plus a chaos generating random two-body interaction having strength λ\lambda, exhibit Poisson to GOE and Breit-Wigner (BW) to Gaussian transitions in level fluctuations and strength functions with transition points marked by λ=λc\lambda=\lambda_c and λ=λF\lambda=\lambda_F, respectively; λF>>λc\lambda_F >> \lambda_c. For these systems theory for matrix elements of one-body transition operators is available, as valid in the Gaussian domain, with λ>λF\lambda > \lambda_F, in terms of orbitals occupation numbers, level densities and an integral involving a bivariate Gaussian in the initial and final energies. Here we show that, using bivariate tt-distribution, the theory extends below from the Gaussian regime to the BW regime up to λ=λc\lambda=\lambda_c. This is well tested in numerical calculations for six spinless fermions in twelve single particle states.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure
