Exchange shift of stripe domains in antiferromagnetically coupled multilayers
Antiferromagnetically coupled multilayers with perpendicular anisotropy, as
[CoPt]/Ru, Co/Ir, Fe/Au, display ferromagnetic stripe phases as the ground
states. It is theoretically shown that the antiferromagnetic interlayer
exchange causes a relative shift of domains in adjacent layers. This ``exchange
shift'' is responsible for several recently observed effects: an anomalous
broadening of domain walls, the formation of so-called ``tiger-tail'' patterns,
and a ``mixed state'' of antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic domains in
[CoPt]/Ru multilayers. The derived analitical relations between the values of
the shift and the strength of antiferromagnetic coupling provide an effective
method for a quantitative determination of the interlayer exchange

Skyrmionic textures in chiral magnets
In non-centrosymmetric magnets the chiral Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya exchange
stabilizes Skyrmion-strings as excitations which may condense into multiply
modulated phases. Such extended Skyrmionic textures are determined by the
stability of the localized "solitonic" Skyrmion cores and their geometrical
incompatibility which frustrates regular space-filling. We present numerically
exact solutions for Skyrmion lattices and formulate basic properties of the

Theory of vortex states in magnetic nanodisks with induced Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions
Vortex states in magnetic nanodisks are essentially affected by
surface/interface induced Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions. Within a
micromagnetic approach we calculate the equilibrium sizes and shape of the
vortices as functions of magnetic field, the material and geometrical
parameters of nanodisks. It was found that the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya coupling
can considerably increase sizes of vortices with "right" chirality and suppress
vortices with opposite chirality. This allows to form a bistable system of
homochiral vortices as a basic element for storage applications.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure
Multilevel Clustering Fault Model for IC Manufacture
A hierarchical approach to the construction of compound distributions for
process-induced faults in IC manufacture is proposed. Within this framework,
the negative binomial distribution is treated as level-1 models. The
hierarchical approach to fault distribution offers an integrated picture of how
fault density varies from region to region within a wafer, from wafer to wafer
within a batch, and so on. A theory of compound-distribution hierarchies is
developed by means of generating functions. A study of correlations, which
naturally appears in microelectronics due to the batch character of IC
manufacture, is proposed. Taking these correlations into account is of
significant importance for developing procedures for statistical quality
control in IC manufacture. With respect to applications, hierarchies of yield

Chiral skyrmions in thin magnetic films: new objects for magnetic storage technologies?
Axisymmetric magnetic lines of nanometer sizes (chiral vortices or skyrmions)
have been predicted to exist in a large group of noncentrosymmetric crystals
more than two decades ago. Recently these magnetic textures have been directly
observed in nanolayers of cubic helimagnets and monolayers of magnetic metals.
We develop a micromagnetic theory of chiral skyrmions in thin magnetic layers
for magnetic materials with intrinsic and induced chirality. Such particle-like
and stable micromagnetic objects can exist in broad ranges of applied magnetic
fields including zero field. Chiral skyrmions can be used as a new type of
highly mobile nanoscale data carriers
Evaluation of the current state of aquatic ecosystems and the problems of the protection of biological resources during development of kruzenshternskoye gcf
The results of studies of the current state of freshwater ecosystems and their biotic components in the western part of the Yamal Peninsula are presented in the article. Based on the evaluation of the structure of communities of phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthos, and whitefishes, the range of problems related to the protection of biological resources during the development of the Kruzenshternskoye gas field is defined. The data on species composition and quantitative indicators of hydrobionts of different types of waterbodies and watercourses in the lower reaches of the Mordyyakha and Naduyyakha Rivers basins is the basis for environmental monitoring of water objects during development and exploitation of the Kruzenshternskoye gas field. Estimation of the fish fauna state and their food base in the territory of the Kruzenshternskoye GCF according to the monitoring program is present. The river delta zones are the most important feeding areas of the salmonid and whitefishes valuable fish species in the territory of Kruzenshternskoye GCF. In cases where water bodies and watercourses are not completely demolished for the construction of GCF facilities, changes of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of communities of hydrobionts after the end of operations are reversible. River ecosystems are restored within a shorter period of time in comparison to lacustrine ones. Proposals for the protection of fisheries resources and monitoring of aquatic ecosystems on the basis of comprehensive studies are reported. Recommendations on reducing the anthropogenic impact on aquatic ecosystems in the development period are present. The results of the investigation were used in the development of the environmental protection part of the Kruzenshternskoye deposit project. Precursor phenomena at the magnetic ordering of the cubic helimagnet FeGe
We report on detailed magnetic measurements on the cubic helimagnet FeGe in
external magnetic fields and temperatures near the onset of long-range magnetic
order at K. Precursor phenomena display a complex succession of
temperature-driven crossovers and phase transitions in the vicinity of .
The A-phase region, present below and fields kOe, is split in
several pockets. Relying on a modified phenomenological theory for chiral
magnets, the main part of the A-phase could indicate the existence of a
Skyrmion lattice, the adjacent A pocket, however, appears to be related to
helicoids propagating in directions perpendicular to the applied field.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
