5 GHz TMRT observations of 71 pulsars
We present integrated pulse profiles at 5~GHz for 71 pulsars, including eight
millisecond pulsars (MSPs), obtained using the Shanghai Tian Ma Radio Telescope
(TMRT). Mean flux densities and pulse widths are measured. For 19 normal
pulsars and one MSP, these are the first detections at 5~GHz and for a further
19, including five MPSs, the profiles have a better signal-to-noise ratio than
previous observations. Mean flux density spectra between 400~MHz and 9~GHz are
presented for 27 pulsars and correlations of power-law spectral index are found
with characteristic age, radio pseudo-luminosity and spin-down luminosity. Mode
changing was detected in five pulsars. The separation between the main pulse
and interpulse is shown to be frequency independent for six pulsars but a
frequency dependence of the relative intensity of the main pulse and interpulse
is found. The frequency dependence of component separations is investigated for
20 pulsars and three groups are found: in seven cases the separation between
the outmost leading and trailing components decreases with frequency, roughly
in agreement with radius-to-frequency mapping; in eleven cases the separation
is nearly constant; in the remain two cases the separation between the outmost
components increases with frequency. We obtain the correlations of pulse widths
with pulsar period and estimate the core widths of 23 multi-component profiles
and conal widths of 17 multi-component profiles at 5.0~GHz using Gaussian
fitting and discuss the width-period relationship at 5~GHz compared with the

Properties of weighted complex networks
We study two kinds of weighted networks, weighted small-world (WSW) and
weighted scale-free (WSF). The weight of a link between nodes and
in the network is defined as the product of endpoint node degrees; that is
. In contrast to adding weights to links during
networks being constructed, we only consider weights depending on the ``
popularity\rq\rq of the nodes represented by their connectivity. It was found
that the both weighted networks have broad distributions on characterization
the link weight, vertex strength, and average shortest path length.
Furthermore, as a survey of the model, the epidemic spreading process in both
weighted networks was studied based on the standard \emph{susceptible-infected}
(SI) model. The spreading velocity reaches a peak very quickly after the
infection outbreaks and an exponential decay was found in the long time

Plasma oxylipins and unesterified precursor fatty acids are altered by DHA supplementation in pregnancy: Can they help predict risk of preterm birth?
Oxidized lipids derived from omega-6 (n-6) and omega-3 (n-3) polyunsaturated fatty acids, collectively known as oxylipins, are bioactive signaling molecules that play diverse roles in human health and disease. Supplementation with n-3 docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) during pregnancy has been reported to decrease the risk of preterm birth in singleton pregnancies, which may be due to effects of DHA supplementation on oxylipins or their precursor n-6 and n-3 fatty acids. There is only limited understanding of the levels and trajectory of changes in plasma oxylipins during pregnancy, effects of DHA supplementation on oxylipins and unesterified fatty acids, and whether and how oxylipins and their unesterified precursor fatty acids influence preterm birth. In the present study we used liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry to profile oxylipins and their precursor fatty acids in the unesterified pool using plasma samples collected from a subset of pregnant Australian women who participated in the ORIP (Omega-3 fats to Reduce the Incidence of Prematurity) study. ORIP is a large randomized controlled trial testing whether daily supplementation with n-3 DHA can reduce the incidence of early preterm birth compared to control. Plasma was collected at study entry (≈pregnancy week 14) and again at ≈week 24, in a subgroup of 48 ORIP participants-12 cases with spontaneous preterm (<37 weeks) birth and 36 matched controls with spontaneous term (≥40 weeks) birth. In the combined preterm and term pregnancies, we observed that in the control group without DHA supplementation unesterified AA and AA-derived oxylipins 12-HETE, 15-HETE and TXB2 declined between weeks 14-24 of pregnancy. Compared to control, DHA supplementation increased unesterified DHA, EPA, and AA, DHA-derived 4-HDHA, 10-HDHA and 19,20-EpDPA, and AA-derived 12-HETE at 24 weeks. In exploratory analysis independent of DHA supplementation, participants with concentrations above the median for 5-lipoxygenase derivatives of AA (5-HETE, Odds Ratio (OR) 8.2; p = 0.014) or DHA (4-HDHA, OR 8.0; p = 0.015) at 14 weeks, or unesterified AA (OR 5.1; p = 0.038) at 24 weeks had higher risk of spontaneous preterm birth. The hypothesis that 5-lipoxygenase-derived oxylipins and unesterified AA could serve as mechanism-based biomarkers predicting spontaneous preterm birth should be evaluated in larger, adequately powered studies
TMRT observations of 26 pulsars at 8.6 GHz
Integrated pulse profiles at 8.6~GHz obtained with the Shanghai Tian Ma Radio
Telescope (TMRT) are presented for a sample of 26 pulsars. Mean flux densities
and pulse width parameters of these pulsars are estimated. For eleven pulsars
these are the first high-frequency observations and for a further four, our
observations have a better signal-to-noise ratio than previous observations.
For one (PSR J0742-2822) the 8.6~GHz profiles differs from previously observed
profiles. A comparison of 19 profiles with those at other frequencies shows
that in nine cases the separation between the outmost leading and trailing
components decreases with frequency, roughly in agreement with
radius-to-frequency mapping, whereas in the other ten the separation is nearly
constant. Different spectral indices of profile components lead to the
variation of integrated pulse profile shapes with frequency. In seven pulsars
with multi-component profiles, the spectral indices of the central components
are steeper than those of the outer components. For the 12 pulsars with
multi-component profiles in the high-frequency sample, we estimate the core

Walks on weighted networks
We investigate the dynamics of random walks on weighted networks. Assuming
that the edge's weight and the node's strength are used as local information by
a random walker, we study two kinds of walks, weight-dependent walk and
strength-dependent walk. Exact expressions for stationary distribution and
average return time are derived and confirmed by computer simulations. We
calculate the distribution of average return time and the mean-square
displacement for two walks on the BBV networks, and find that a
weight-dependent walker can arrive at a new territory more easily than a

Demonstration of multi-channel 80 Gbit/s integrated transmitter and receiver for wavelength-division multiplexing passive optical network and fronthauling applications
The performance evaluation of a multi-channel transmitter that employs an arrayed reflective electroabsorption modulator-based photonic integrated circuit and a low-power driver array in conjunction with a multi-channel receiver incorporating a pin photodiode array and integrated arrayed waveguide grating is reported. Due to their small footprint, low power consumption and potential low cost, these devices are attractive solutions for future mobile fronthaul and next generation optical access networks. A BER performance of <10(-9) at 10.3 Gbit/s per channel is achieved over 25 km of standard single mode fibre. The transmitter/receiver combination can achieve an aggregate bit rate of 82.4 Gbit/s when eight channels are active
Experimental Long-Distance Decoy-State Quantum Key Distribution Based On Polarization Encoding
We demonstrate the decoy-state quantum key distribution (QKD) with one-way
quantum communication in polarization space over 102km. Further, we simplify
the experimental setup and use only one detector to implement the one-way
decoy-state QKD over 75km, with the advantage to overcome the security
loopholes due to the efficiency mismatch of detectors. Our experimental
implementation can really offer the unconditionally secure final keys. We use 3
different intensities of 0, 0.2 and 0.6 for the pulses of source in our
experiment. In order to eliminate the influences of polarization mode
dispersion in the long-distance single-mode optical fiber, an automatic
polarization compensation system is utilized to implement the active

Epitaxial growth of high quality ZnS films on sapphire and silicon by pulsed laser deposition
We report for the first time, epitaxial growth of high-quality ZnS films on sapphire and silicon substrates, using pulsed laser deposition. X-ray diffraction results show that at all growth temperatures from 200°C to 680°C, epitaxial wurtzite (002) ZnS films have been successfully grown on (1012) sapphire and (001) silicon substrates. X-ray diffraction data yield full width at half maximum 2theta values of 0.13° for as-grown samples, compared with 28 values or 0.09° and 0.08° for the bare sapphire and silicon substrates respectively
