The finite element method analysis of temperature distribution of the FAMA electron cyclotron resonance mini-oven
The mVINIS ion source, a part of FAMA installation at Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences, is able to produce multiple charged heavy ion beams through the utilization of vapors created by the process of melting solids inside the miniature oven (mini-oven). The mini-oven that was used previously could only reach the maximum temperature of 800?C, which is far too low for evaporating most metals. REACTION OF TABLE GRAPE VARIETIES TO LOW WINTER TEMPERATURES
The aim ofthis study was toinvestigate theresistanceof winter buds to lowwinter temperatures oneighttablevarieties of differentripening time. The study was conducted during vine dormancy at three testing dates during winter i.e. over the last ten days of the three winter months of December, January and February. At the first, second and third dates, the air temperature in the freezing chamber was reduced to - 15oC, -20oC, and -10oC, respectively.The analysis of the average values for the study period shows that Muscat Hamburg and Smederevo Muscat had the lowest and highest average percentage of completely frozen buds (48.97% and 58.84%, respectively). The average values for partly frozen buds ranged from 29.17 % in Afuz-Ali to 33.11 % in Muscat Hamburg. The evaluation of the data on unfrozen buds suggests that the average values were within the range of 11.15 % (Smederevo Muscat) to 17.91 % (Muscat Hamburg)
Beyond the bounds of western Europe: Paleolithic art in the Balkan peninsula
Paleolithic art offers unique perspectives on prehistoric societies and cultures. It is also considered a key component of modern human behavior. Until recently, Paleolithic artworks were thought to be geographically restricted to a very few areas, especially southwestern Europe. Discoveries of art in other parts of Europe and other parts of the globe have challenged this vision, expanding the documented distribution of this important cultural phenomenon. As a consequence, there has been renewed interest in less well-known areas, with the goal of determining whether the current lack of art is a reflection of a past reality, the product of limited research, or a matter of preservation. One of these regions is the Balkan Peninsula, a key area for understanding Upper Paleolithic societies given its location at the crossroads of several migration routes into Europe. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the Paleolithic symbolic products, including both rock art and portable art from the Balkans. Recent research has led to new discoveries and insights into the symbolism of this long-neglected area. The present review, combining existing literature and new fieldwork, sheds new light on social and cultural interactions in this part of the continent and leads to a better understanding of its role within the European Upper Paleolithic cultural sphere
Metastatic Breast Cancer Survival according to HER2 and Topo2a Gene Status
The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between amplification of HER2 (Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) and Topo2a (topoisomerase 2a) and their influence on prognosis in metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients. Amplification of both HER2 and Topo2a genes was determined by chromogenic in situ hybridization (CISH) in primary tumor tissue of 71 MBC patients. Starting point for follow-up was the time of diagnosis of metastatic disease. Although there was significant correlation between HER2 amplification and Topo2a alterations, Topo2a amplification was not strictly related to HER2 amplification. Follow-up of patients showed that there was no difference in MBC survival between HER2-nonamplified and HER2-amplified patients for subgroup as whole, but there was significant difference in MBC survival between patients with and without Topo2a amplification. HER2 amplification showed prognostic value in subgroups of patients, as well as Topo2a. Combination of these two genes with different status (nonamplified, amplified, coamplified) indicated that they might have additive effect. Also, it has been shown that Topo2a-amplified cases have poorer survival than Topo2a-nonamplified, when treated with CMF therapy

neandertalaca i njihovog nestanka koji financira Hrvatska zaklada za znanost. Provedena su probna iskopavanja Matetine pećine kod
Kaštela, rekognosciranja zaleđa Kaštela, a nastavljena su ranije započeta istraživanja Velike pećine u Kličevici kod Benkovca i podvodnoga
paleolitičkog nalazišta Kaštel Štafilić. U metode dokumentiranja uvedeno je 3D fotografiranje, a u istraživanje električna rezistentna tomografija.
The paper reports on the first year of research on the project Late Mousterian in the eastern Adriatic - towards understanding of late Neanderthals’
identity and their demise, financed by the Croatian Science Foundation. Trial excavations were carried out in the Matetina pećina cave
near Kaštela, field survey was conducted in the hinterland of Kaštela, and the investigations continued in Velika pećina cave in Kličevica and at
the underwater Palaeolithic site of Kaštel Štafilić. New methods introduced within the project included documentation with 3D photography
and investigation by Electrical Resistance Tomography
