Open Source Dataset and Machine Learning Techniques for Automatic Recognition of Historical Graffiti
Machine learning techniques are presented for automatic recognition of the
historical letters (XI-XVIII centuries) carved on the stoned walls of St.Sophia
cathedral in Kyiv (Ukraine). A new image dataset of these carved Glagolitic and
Cyrillic letters (CGCL) was assembled and pre-processed for recognition and
prediction by machine learning methods. The dataset consists of more than 4000
images for 34 types of letters. The explanatory data analysis of CGCL and
notMNIST datasets shown that the carved letters can hardly be differentiated by
dimensionality reduction methods, for example, by t-distributed stochastic
neighbor embedding (tSNE) due to the worse letter representation by stone
carving in comparison to hand writing. The multinomial logistic regression
(MLR) and a 2D convolutional neural network (CNN) models were applied. The MLR
model demonstrated the area under curve (AUC) values for receiver operating
characteristic (ROC) are not lower than 0.92 and 0.60 for notMNIST and CGCL,
respectively. The CNN model gave AUC values close to 0.99 for both notMNIST and
CGCL (despite the much smaller size and quality of CGCL in comparison to
notMNIST) under condition of the high lossy data augmentation. CGCL dataset was
published to be available for the data science community as an open source
resource.Comment: 11 pages, 9 figures, accepted for 25th International Conference on

Summary of the CMS Discovery Potential for the MSSM SUSY Higgses
This work summarises the present understanding of the expected MSSM SUSY
Higgs reach for CMS. Many of the studies presented here result from detailed
detector simulations incorporating final CMS detector design and response. With
30 fb-1 the h -> gamma,gamma and h -> bb channels allow to cover most of the
MSSM parameter space. For the massive A,H,H+ MSSM Higgs states the channels A,H
-> tau,tau and H+ -> tau,nu turn out to be the most profitable ones in terms of
mass reach and parameter space coverage. Consequently CMS has made a big effort
to trigger efficiently on taus. Provided neutralinos and sleptons are not too
heavy, there is an interesting complementarity in the reaches for A,H ->
tau,tau and A,H -> chi,chi.Comment: 19 pages, 27 figure
The Making of Archiving in Novonikolayevsk (Novosibirsk) in the 1930s in the 20th Century
The article addresses the issues of historiography and source materials analysis on the origin and development of archiving in Novonikolaevsk (since February 1926 – Novosibirsk) in the 1930s of XX century. October 1, 1925 Novonikolayevsk County Archive office was established as a division of the Novosibirsk District Executive Committee, which was responsible for accounting organization and archival documents preservation, pre-revolutionary institutions lists compilation, and after the revolution – for the unchecked archives identification and search, departmental archives revision and instructing of local archivists. By the Resolution of the Siberian Regional Archival Bureau dated July 27 1930 Novosibirsk District Archive Bureau was abolished and for the further institutions and enterprises maintenance the local archives office was organized in Novosibirsk City Executive Committee. Research on different types of historical documents reflecting the characteristics of work organization in Novosibirsk archive Bureau's Department of archives and district executive committees archives, conditions of archival funds formation, classification and use, archivists staff appointments, their accounting and qualifications, allowed to accumulate the historiography and source studies experience on the organization of archives in Novonikolaevsk through the example of the Archival Bureau in the first five years of its existence. Archival materials stored in MPI «Novosibirsk City Archives» and GKU NSO «State Archives of the Novosibirsk region» were used as the documentary basis of the article
On the feasibility to study inverse proximity effect in a single S/F bilayer by Polarized Neutron Reflectometry
Here we report on a feasibility study aiming to explore the potential of
Polarized Neutron Reflectometry (PNR) for detecting the inverse proximity
effect in a single superconducting/ferromagnetic bilayer. Experiments,
conducted on the V(40nm)/Fe(1nm) S/F bilayer, have shown that experimental spin
asymmetry measured at T = 0.5TC is shifted towards higher Q values compared to
the curve measured at T = 1.5TC. Such a shift can be described by the
appearance in superconducting vanadium of magnetic sub-layer with thickness of
7 nm and magnetization of +0.8 kG.Comment: Changes in the 2nd version: small mistypes are corrected. Manuscript

Influence of annealing on nanocrystal formation in Ni amorphous alloy
It is established that nanocrystals in the alloy samples increase in size with increasing annealing temperature. The rise of resistivity upon annealing at temperatures below 300°C and its significant decrease at higher temperatures is consistent with the change in the amorphous alloy microstructureyesBelgorod State Universit
