This research was aimed to improve students' activeness in speaking using Jigsaw II to class XI IPA 1 of SMAN 1 Kendawangan in academic 2016/2017. In this research, the researcher implemented Jigsaw II as the technique. The actions were designed in order to improve students' activeness in speaking by discussing and presenting the material. The subject of this research were the students from class XI IPA 1 of SMAN 1 Kendawangan in academic year 2016/2017. The method of this research was a classroom action research. The researcher observed the improvement of students' activeness in speaking by collecting the data through observation and measurement technique. The data were in the form of observation checklist, and field notes. The data were collected by analyzing field notes and observation guidelines during the research and by measuring the students' mean score. This research was done in three cycles. The result of this research showed that Jigsaw II was effective to improve students' activeness in speaking. The students' mean score improved from 2.1 in the first cycle, 3 in the second cycle to 3.3 in the third cycle. It can be concluded that students' activeness in speaking taught by Jigsaw II was improved. In other words, this technique can help the students to speak actively

Using Bernoulli Equation to Solve Burger's Equation

In this paper we find the exact solution of Burger's equation after reducing it to Bernoulli equation. We compare this solution with that given by Kaya where he used Adomian decomposition method, the solution given by chakrone where he used the Variation iteration method (VIM)and the solution given by Eq(5)in the paper of M. Javidi. We notice that our solution is better than their solutions

The method that used of this research is quasi experiment make use of two classes, quasi experiment I and quasi experiment II. The population is all of sevent grade students at SMPN 5 Garut period 2014/2015, and the sample is H-sevent grade as quasi experiment I who get kancing gemerincing learning and F-sevent grade as quasi experiment II who get NHT learning with purposive sampling. The purposive sampling is sampling based on certain considerations. The instrument of this research is mathematical understanding skill test and questionnaire. Based on the result of research, known that: (1) found the difference increased of mathematical understanding skill students between who get strategy cooperative learning technique Numbered Head Together (NHT) and kancing gemerincing, (2) the increased quality of mathematical understanding skill quasi experiment I students with technique kancing gemerincing is enough, (3) the increased quality of mathematical understanding skill quasi experiment II students with technique NHT is enough, (5) the student were gived their positive attitude to technique kancing gemerincing, (5) the student were gived their positive attitude to technique NHT, but they were gived their negative attitude to equipping of LKS

Simulations of the Nuclear Recoil Head-Tail Signature in Gases Relevant to Directional Dark Matter Searches

We present the first detailed simulations of the head-tail effect relevant to directional Dark Matter searches. Investigations of the location of the majority of the ionization charge as being either at the beginning half (tail) or at the end half (head) of the nuclear recoil track were performed for carbon and sulphur recoils in 40 Torr negative ion carbon disulfide and for fluorine recoils in 100 Torr carbon tetrafluoride. The SRIM simulation program was used, together with a purpose-written Monte Carlo generator, to model production of ionizing pairs, diffusion and basic readout geometries relevant to potential real detector scenarios, such as under development for the DRIFT experiment. The results clearly indicate the existence of a head-tail track asymmetry but with a magnitude critically influenced by two competing factors: the nature of the stopping power and details of the range straggling. The former tends to result in the tail being greater than the head and the latter the reverse.Comment: 22 pages, 12 figures, submitted to Astroparticle Physic

MSRD-Unet: Multiscale Residual Dilated U-Net for Medical Image Segmentation

Semantic segmentation is an exciting research topic in medical image analysis because it aims to detect objects in medical images. In recent years, approaches based on deep learning have shown a more reliable performance than traditional approaches in medical image segmentation. The U-Net network is one of the most successful end-to-end convolutional neural networks (CNNs) presented for medical image segmentation. This paper proposes a multiscale Residual Dilated convolution neural network (MSRD-UNet) based on U-Net. MSRD-UNet replaced the traditional convolution block with a novel deeper block that fuses multi-layer features using dilated and residual convolution. In addition, the squeeze and execution attention mechanism (SE) and the skip connections are redesigned to give a more reliable fusion of features. MSRD-UNet allows aggregation of contextual information, and the network goes without needing to increase the number of parameters or required floating-point operations (FLOPS). The proposed model was evaluated on three multimodal datasets: polyp, skin lesion, and nuclei segmentation. The obtained results proved that the MSDR-Unet model outperforms several state-of-the-art U-Net-based methods

Nutrient and organic carbon losses by erosion, and their economic and environmental implications in the drylands of Kenya

Erosion causes soil nutrients and financial losses, and negatively impacts the environment. We sought to assess the effects of integrated soil fertility and soil & water management practices on nutrient losses, their equivalent economic losses, and environmental disturbance in the drylands of Tharaka-Nithi County. An experiment was set in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Six treatments implemented included manure + fertilizer + tied ridging under 120 kg ha−1 and 30 kg ha−1 nitrogen (N) application rate, manure + fertilizer + minimum tillage with crop residue mulch under 120 N kg ha−1 and 30 N kg ha−1, Managing Beneficial Interactions in Legume Intercrops with 60 N kg ha−1, and conventional control. A two (120 N kg ha−1 and 30 N kg ha−1) by two (Minimum tillage with mulch and tied ridges) split-plot arrangement was used to evaluate the interaction effect of soil fertility, and soil & water conservation practices. Soil & water conservation and soil fertility management practices reduced soil nutrients and organic carbon losses, ecosystem disturbance, and monetary nutrient losses when isolated or integrated. Minimum tillage with mulch had a higher reduction in the nutrient loss by 20–165% compared to tied ridges. The 120 N kg ha−1 reduced nutrient loss by 16–19% more than 30 N kg ha−1. The enrichment ratio (ER) under all the treatments was above unity, which indicated ecosystem disturbance. Minimum tillage with mulch reduced ER more than the tied ridges, whereas 30 N kg ha−1 had lower ER than 120 N kg ha−1. The equivalent monetary losses of nutrients were as high as 30 USha−1forsoilorganiccarbon,28US ha−1for soil organic carbon, 28 US ha−1 for nitrogen, 73 USha−1forphosphorus,and140US ha−1 for phosphorus, and 140 US ha−1 for potassium per season. The combined treatment with the least economic losses was manure + fertilizer (120 N kg ha−1) + minimum tillage with mulch. Hence, the technology should be promoted for sustainable agricultural productivity. Erosion causes soil nutrients and financial losses, and negatively impacts the environment.
